  1. I scribbled out the little 5 and Sharpied in a 6 to feel special. Even with the extra few cores the performance is still the same? I know Intel is better for strictly gaming, I was looking into an i5-9600k but the price is so steep that I don't want to give money to Intel just on principle. The performance issues no, just looking at performance gains. Just want to get the most FPS I can for a reasonable cost. Since I got my CPU in 2015, it seems about the time for an upgrade. I'm so impatient lol. I hate waiting since it's so far away it seems like.
  2. It's so far away from summer that I really really don't want to wait lol. I'm just mainly curious to see what the FPS difference would be. It's hard to find FPS charts comparing relatively old CPUs to the new generation ones. All the videos I found were from very small channels that I do not trust with their charts.
  3. Not sure if I should wait for the summer when new Ryzen CPU comes out or if I should just bite the bullet and purchase something right now. I know if I purchase something from AMD right now at least when summer comes I will be able to upgrade to the new generation if the performance is amazing. The price for a current AMD part list with the cpu and ASUS Prime mobo would be about $312 USD on PCPartPicker pricing. Is my aging 6600k holding my GPU back at high refresh 1440p gaming? Would I need to get higher frequency RAM for better Ryzen performance? I bought the RAM in 2015 right before the surge in pricing. ? Current Specs CPU: i5-6600k GPU: GTX 1080ti RAM: 32 GB DDR4-2400 Monitor 1440p 144/165 Hz (Mian display, gaming) 1080p 60 Hz (Second display)
  4. A better gpu isn't worth it? I'm thinking its my gpu holding me back more than my cpu.
  5. My system specs are listed below, I picked up a Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB during Black Friday for $130. Will be a nice replacement for my current boot drive. ~~~~ CPU Intel Core i5-6600K @ 4.0 GHz Cooling CRYORIG - H7 49 Motherboard Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 S RAM Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2400 GPU Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB Dual Series Case NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Storage Samsung 860 EVO 1TB, Crucial M500 240 GB, Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB, Western Digital Black 6 TB PSU Corsair HX850i - 80+ Plat Display(s) Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 27.0" 2560x1440 165 Hz ~~~~ I have quite a few questions I was wondering on what I should upgrade, a few of my system parts are starting to age especially because my monitor is 1440p with a high refresh rate. CPU With AMD finally being a contender in the cpu market, and allowing Zen/Ryzen to mature a little, I was just curious on which company I should go with? I understand that Zen 3 is coming out in 2019, and Ice Lake in 2019 maybe 2020? I am mainly gaming 90% of the time with some light photo and video editing for fun. Once the cpu company question is answered, should I go with an Intel i5 or i7, or AMD Ryzen 5 or 7? Cooling Would a better air cooler be needed for these high core count cpu chips? Motherboard I know I will have to buy a new one, will probably just find a white themed board to fit my color scheme. GPU Should I find a used GTX 1080 ti on eBay or a new RTX 2080, or the million dollar question, wait for second gen RTX? Thanks for helping me out in advance!
