  1. EDIT i found my answer! windows messed around a lot with the sound settings in the latest update. under Sound settings and "advanced settings" there is "App volume and device preferences." apparently i needed to manually tell OBS which input to use instead of it choosing based on application settings. OP below.
  2. i think i will likely end up going with the Corsair RM650. Tier A on the PSU list, and while it's overkill for my current system, it carries a 10yr warranty and since my tower was built in 2012, there's a strong possibility this PSU could go into my next computer. thanks for making an otherwise confusing decision in a crowded market much, much easier.
  3. brilliant, thanks friend. seeing a crowdsourced tier list was exactly the kind of thing i was after for piece of mind.
  4. hi guys, sorry i'm sure there's like the exact thread posted somewhere but i don't really browse here much, hence why i didn't spend a bunch of time looking. basically, i have no idea what power supply to replace my current one with. LTT seems to push Seasonic quite hard, but i know there are other good options. i used Seasonic's wattage calculator and it recommended i need a 750w power supply. my current one is a no-named generic i had ibuypower put in my computer when i didn't know what i was doing, and after upgrading to the RX 580 it makes funky sounds when under load. here are my questions: - with modular PSU's, do they come with the cables i will need or do i have to order them separate? - would a non-modular / semi-modular have everything i need assuming i'm not a stickler about cable management? (build below) - is Seasonic the brand to beat, or are there others some of you might recommend? thanks, i'm just nervous about change build: 3770k 16gb DDR3 RAM Radeon RX 580 soundcard / SATA SSD / SATA HDD / optical drive (what even are those anymore)
  5. it's an iBUYPOWER machine from 2012, i picked the parts before i became more familiar with the tech so it's likely that it's not a brand name PSU. but literally every component of this machine has been 100% fine since i bought it so i'm not complaining. as long as the dual 6pin to 8pin will be ok i'll go with that for now. appreciate the swift replies, friends.
  6. greetings forum, longtime LTT viewer, first time poster (be gentle!) since i saw an RX 580 dip below $200 i impulse bought it to replace my dinosaur 7870 from 2012. very excited! i also ordered a dual 6 pin -> single 8 pin adapter since i do not have an 8pin available (remember, the system is from 2012). is it safe to assume that as someone who doesn't plan on overclocking their card, this should be fine? my PSU is 700w so plenty of juice to spare, just not the exact plug. card is not here yet and i figure worst case scenario is i should replace the PSU, but am i wrong to assume that i shouldn't run into any trouble?
