  1. I got a the card a while ago and noticed that I can't raise the power limit on the card. I tried in Radeon software and in Msi afterburner but it's locked tight. I posted this on reddit a while ago and someone told me that Msi locked the power limit to make the card quieter but I can't find any mention online about this. I want to unlock the power limit, not for oc'ing, there's no need for me right now, but I want it to draw power to it's spec, up to 230W. Right now it's only drawing a max of 185W as shown in Radeon software and HWInfo. The performance is ok, memory and core are definetly hitting spec speeds but it just bugs me. Is there any way to unlock the power draw? Or do you guys have a link to a forum thread about this ?
  2. Also....I don't quite understand your point here " The cooler is nice and cheap but nothing beats having an appropriate cooler that's stock" Are you saying that a stock cooler is better? I was getting 80C with a stock intel cooler while at 70% load.
  3. Yes, you are right, the MB is the wrong one for this system. The PSU's brand is well known in europe and it's pretty good. No SSD, i know, big no no in 2018 but I've lived with an 7 years old system until now and i wanted to focus my budget on the parts that will actually deliver fps. The 6700k was a personal preference because i wanted later upgrade ability with oc(when i change the MB), also the MB had a 1151 socket.... and the system wasn't bought all at once, it was built over the last year whenever i would have enough money saved up( i kept upgrading a pre built i got for christmas last year and i ended up changing all the internals besides the HDD and MB even the case because the gpu wouldn't fit). I am currently saving money for a new MB and an SSD. Do keep in mind that even without an SSD, MB and HDD all of the parts still cost me over $1000 because the price for pc parts in my country is a lot bigger. I managed to get most of my components on sale or from individual vendors who import them and sell them at almost MSRP(actually only the CPU was bought from a vendor from a website like ebay). Now, if i follow my current plan and get a Z270 MB and an SSD would my build be Ok from a 2018 standpoint ?
  4. Thank you for the reply. My original intention was to buy a 7700 but i could not find one for the price of $280. The lowest price was $412 and i got the K variant because I can always upgrade my MB down the road if i need more juice. I actually think it's a good upgrade path. At some point I'll need more than 2 Ram slots and I personally think the 1070 ti is still good for another 2 years.
  5. My system: H110M-CS Asus motherboard(left from an old pre-built, decided to re use it instead of buying a new one) - FREE* sort off Njoy 600W 80+ Silver PSU - $56 1TB HDD - FREE from the same pre built 16 GB RAM Corsair Vengeance CL 16 2400MHz(2x8) - I bought a stick last year for $110 and another stick this year for $60(ram prices were awful, glad they dropped again) MSI GTX 1070ti Armor - $461(on sale from $600, prices in my country are so much higher) Intel I7 6700k with Cooler Master Hyper LED 212 cooler - $280 for the CPU(bought from a website like ebay, new, not used), $43 for the cooler Generic case with two front fans(they actually do a good job, 60C maximum at full load, both CPU and GPU) - $30 TOTAL OF: $1040 Linus's holiday buyer guide just came out and I was wondering if my pc is as good a value as the $1000 pc.
  6. well, i think the this one would be best. it's like the amazon for pc parts of my country emag.ro you might have to convert the money to understand the prices
  7. I live in Eastern Europe, just imagine everything is priced about $70 to $100 more here in terms of pc parts. But feel free to offer anything you think is suited, I'll raise money for it if need be and I won't say no to a kind and free advice. Also thank you for helping
  8. Alright, so, can you recommend me a mid range MB that I could get that would be suited for overclocking? I'm thinking of buying an ATX MB with 4 RAM slots but the cheapest i could find starts at $100. Can I buy some of the cheaper models ? Or should I go up by another hundred $ ?
  9. System specs: ASUS H110M-CS motherboard(mini ATX) I7 6700k with Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Gtx 1070 ti - 8 pin+6 pin power connectors 8GB X 2 Corsair Vengeance 2400 MHz(not in dual channel, mb doesn't support it) 600W PSU 80+ silver from Njoy Use case for system: mainly gaming Some of the information about my specs may seem useless but I wanted to include more information that might matter since I've never dealt with overclocking. I know I bought a CPU that is meant for those that want to overclock it and should know a thing or two about it, i just figured it would be a great way to not have to upgrade very often by overclocking it down the line so it would last me a while longer. My basic question here is if I can overclock this system, both CPU and graphics card using the MB I have right now. I know that the MB isn't all that, honestly it's the cheapest part of my computer, excluding the fans and case. I suppose I should also give more information about the temps I usually have. With my user defined fan curve for both the CPU and graphics card the cpu idles at 33 C and the graphics card at 50 C, while in gaming the CPU reaches 55-65 C while not being 100% and 70 C at 100% utilisation. My graphics card on the other hand sits snugly at 60-65 C while at full load. It gets a little noisy but I don't mind the sound if that means my temps are as low as they can get.
