  1. I've never really messed with BIOS settings. I couldn't get the same 2133MHz RAM (because it was no longer available). Should I use XMP? Set the Memory speed manually to the higher 2400MHz?
  2. I have:- Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x 4GB) 2400MHz DDR4 And Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x 4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Kits in my ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING Intel Socket 1151 Motherboard. Where should the sticks be placed? and what BIOS settings would be best? Also is there a way I can find out what position my memory sticks are in without disassembling it (the RAM looks identical from the top). TY
  3. No arguments. ------------------------------ Re - FP Be honest with a product. Inform the customer What the deal is *Top of Page* I will retract my previous comment :- "I wish the platform well, but not for me unfortunately. " The more I think about it; the more I hope it fails. I can't afford to pay subs. I'll sub or donate games on the occasion when I can. This is gonna be a tough sell for consumers.. ---------------------------------------------- Re LMG:- I understand the ad stuff and Youtube tax ... Limitations, quality... Linus wants to support his employees. LMG has always been designed to be a business. Reviews are balanced and well thumbnailed, Product Sponsorship is transparent and fun to watch. (Great scope of talent (Love Anthony) All these things are laudable. Don't paywall me though, man.
  4. | That's fine by me. Early adopters, for those that can afford it, is *absolutely fine*. Few "high end" components would ever make it to budget conscious consumers without them. As long as all FP content is available later, and not behind a pay wall" I have *no problems* with it.
  5. Addendum - I don't mind paying content creators, if and when I have the means to do so. There is *no way* I can pay monthly, let alone *every month* so unfortunately I'll not be subscribing and I'll have to miss out. Shame Perhaps this model isn't designed for me; a bit like sports being behind a "Pay Wall". Tech News for the rich, when many people watch to glean information to get good value components, is bizarre. I wish the platform well, but not for me unfortunately.
  6. Maybe for consumers it should be made obvious (Line 1 paragraph1) on the home screen as you described. It's *very* daunting to do a "Sign up" without any explanation of costs etc. TY for the explanation.
  7. Good that the vids are eventually available on YouTube. Shame that Floatplane is a sub thing. I'm money conscious and *NEVER* sign up to Direct Debit monthly subs on *Anything* apart from heating and water for my home. I have no idea why Floatplane is a paid platform. Charging creators *AND* watchers is not gonna work for me. Ever.
  8. I tried to watch float plane to get LTX vids and can't get past a *VERY* bland "Log in / registration Screen". Most media platforms are just click and watch. All I get is a corporate style screen with forced login (which everybody hates, including Linus re: Bethesdsa and Nvidia drivers) I hope this changes. I *think* there might be good vids on there but, quite frankly, I have no idea and I wont be able to confirm it until it's free to watch with no registration required.
  9. 100% Go Fractal Design for Case (superb dust filtering, cool *and* quiet). Dont skimp on your PSU; EVGA do great modular PSU's. I mostly go for Asus MB. Samsung for SSD 2.5" and WD Caviar Black for reliable magnetic storage. If you can get NVme drive on your MB for your OS and fast storage, AData do a crazy value extremely fast NVme " ASX8200NP-480GT-C" great value.
  10. I'm pretty sure that artic 5 thermal paste is *not* electrically conductive. Even so, best to clean off the paste from the heat sinc heat spreader (using isopropyl alcohol if you have it) If not, just use a *very* slightly damp kitchen paper and give it time to dry.
  11. Just on the GPU die. If you spread it thinly ( but covering the entire die ) you're good. GPUs hot spots are all over the die so a thin spread would be perfect.
  12. I just installed SOTTR Demo on Steam to try use the benchmark. I cant find an option to do it. Is there a separate D/L for it (link appreciated), do I need the full game, or am I missing something obvious?
  13. Thanks. I'm not sure what a "boot-kit" is. Sorry for my noobishness. Would I be able to ask the supplier to update the BIOS (before delivery) to make it 3000 compatible, yet also be able be backwards compatible with the 2600? If this is difficult (or impossible) for them to do perhaps that would give me a very good reason to say to them "I think it's best for me to wait until the X570 - 3000 systems to be available". Am I making sense? I'm having to learn quite a lot of new things in a short space of time
  14. It looks like the B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI will support the 3000 series. Will it support pcie4? or is that a feature hard-wired on the PCB specifically for the new X570?
  15. I have on order, a B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI. (2x 16 Gb, RTX 2080) - the company are "awaiting parts" before they build and dispatch it. I was planning on using a Ryzen 5 2600 in it with the possibility of upgrading to Ryzen 3000 in the future. Will this board support the new tech that's currently being announced or... .. Should I quickly try and bail from the order !
