  1. Well what other options do I have? Cause I definitely cant afford $500+ for a new card.
  2. Thank you so much for the info. Do you maybe have a link to where I could find this part?
  3. Sad news everyone... after wiping away some of the substance on the card and the plates. I try putting my card back into my pc. Of course doesn't turn on. But I try reversing the order of the 2 different 8/6 pin connectors on the card. I turn it on. Aaaaaaand it blows.... I turn off my pc immediately and after the smoke clears.... I remove it.... this is what I find.... http://imgur.com/gallery/rnKFoXX
  4. Ok thanks all! I'll keep trouble shooting my card to see if I can get it to boot up again with my PC.
  5. I've taken some pictures. Hope it come out well to tell. Also first time using Imgur... http://imgur.com/gallery/ODw7WDl
  6. It does come off pretty easily. I cant tell if any os burnt cause the pcb is dark in color. I will provide the best pictures I can. Haven't checked if any capacitors have leaked, but I'll check now.
  7. Hi all! Hope everyone is well. My graphics card recently went kapoot. I made a thread about it here: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/994718-pc-not-powering-on-with-graphics-card/?tab=comments#comment-11964762 I just opened up the card to see if I could see any bad connections or if anything was fried. I took off the cooler and both front and back plates. When I took off the plates I could see some kind of liquid on the vram and other components. I felt it and it seem like some kind of oil or lubricant. I think its maybe from the thermal pads. It's not only on the chips itself, but also the surrounding areas. As if its spreading. I'm wondering if this could be the cause of my presumed "dead" card. I can provide pictures if need be. If anyone has any knowledge as to what this substance is or if it could have killed my card I'd much appreciate it! Thanks in advance for any advice
  8. Well as far as the software, I was using MSI Afterburner. Like I said I reset my bios settings and cleared the MSI settings once in was able to boot into windows. Another thing I should mention is that putting the 980ti in the pcie slot without putting the power pins in it doesn't effect the pc turning on. Of course it wont see it or be able to use it, but the LEDs on the card light up and it looks like the fans are trying to spin every couple of seconds. I'll have to try plugging it into a different PC tomorrow as I don't have access to another atm.
  9. Hi all very first post on the forums. I have a small problem with my graphics card. So I just recently got a 980ti, upgraded from a 970, and it's been working fine the past few months since I've got it. But this past week and a half I've been having random restarts while playing games. I ignored it ignorantly not looking into the problem. But while trying out a lil overclocking on Monday (11/12/18) the pc turned off, and didn't turn back on.... I assumed the worse but ended up concluding it was my PSU. So I got my tester and... tested it. All things check out. After a lot of trouble shooting, and reseting my bios, I found that my PC would turn on on when the graphics card was not plugged in. I was baffled as to why this was, considering I've have the card for well over 6 months with no problems. I tried plugging into my other pcie slot and same issue. Lone behold, I put my 970 back in and it's perfectly fine. I'm really baffled. Although I assume my answer is to get another PSU eith higher wattage. Oh yeah my specs: Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 Rev2.1 16gb ddr3 1600mhz (x1-8gb,x2-4gb) I7 4790K 4.0ghz (base) 4.4 ga (boost) EVGA 980ti ACX 2.0 (with backplate) CX750m 80+ bronze Corsair PSU Any input is much appreciated:) I also apologize if I don't respond in a timely manner, I am new to forum posting
