Hmm. I have read that the Cougar CX700M I purchased has some issues with voltage regulation with anything over 560W. This is horrible since it's rated as "700W". I'm going to get my friend to come over tomorrow and I'll try out my trusty 620W Antec High Wattage PSU that guarantees to pull its 620W, which should be sufficient for the RTX 2070 build. I'm suspecting dodgy PSU because limiting CPU to 70% and GPU power limit to 71% solves the problem. Anything higher and computer will reboot when heavy load is applied.

Hey, Have recently built a new PC for a friend, and after a few days his computer has started to reboot itself, while playing games (ie. Rocket league and CS:GO). I'm quite stressed at the moment as it's his rig on the line. Here are the specs: i7-8700 with Thermaltake Frio 12 Silent Cooler 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM Gigabyte RTX 2070 Gaming 8GB 700w Cougar CMX700 80+ Bronze PSU Gigabyte B360 Aorus Gaming Motherboard 480GB Crucial BX500 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD Any ideas on why this could be happening? I've tried monitoring GPU and CPU temps and they seem to be normal

Hey, I've been trying to overclock my card lately but can't seem to reach anywhere near the clocks other people are reaching. Using MSI Afterburner and can't seem to get more than +80mhz without increasing voltage or +100mhz with some voltage tweaks. As per this post here - http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3439503/overclocking-gigabyte-nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-4gb.html OP was able to achieve this with his card: GPU Clock +160MHz Power limiter 134% Mem Clock +450MHz Voltage 63Mv Using the same settings causes my FurMark to crash instantly and for games to freeze. Any ideas? Thanks, Lachlan

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/12856458 Here are the results. My GPU temps don't go much above 60 degrees and CPU in high 60s max. Most settings are round High. I can post a screenshot. Weirdly, running the GTAV benchmark gives results of around 80fps most of the time (and sometimes more). Results are here https://pastebin.com/h5T9mV9d. Scrolling down to the bottom should show my graphics settings too.

So the 3000mhz speed will just throttle down to 2666?
-
Extra cost involved. Team T-Force 3000mhz is cheaper with lifetime warranty. Would I be better off doing that? Unfortunately that doesn’t take into account shipping costs.
-
Was kind of looking to make the most of the 2800 budget. Thanks for the suggestion though! Instead I'll probably go for 2400mhz Corsair Vengeance. Thanks for the input everyone!
-
Assume it would still work though? Well that was certainly an oversight! Whoops. That particular one has an external antenna - thanks for the recommendation.

Have decided that am probably going to build it myself. So, upgraded to an RTX 2070 as it wasn't too much extra compared to the 1070ti. Also have the i7-8700. Was able to put in some choices based on cosmetics (better case and some white LED fans). Additionally, I opted for an 80+ Gold fully modular PSU. Total cost comes to $2688 without windows 10 (which is fine as I can get a key fairly cheaply). https://www.pccasegear.com/sc/xt Pretty happy with how this turned out. Anything painfully stupid I've done with the setup? ?

The K version has higher clock speeds by default - is that worth it? Righteo. The Gigabyte card would be better then? Agree about building it yourself. Am considering doing this. Building this for a friend though. I've built many computers before but still, don't want the responsibility if something is DOA. As for shopping around on parts - not worth it, unless the parts are going to be $20 cheaper from certain places, as shipping costs around that much - none of these places are nearby to me. Is it always the case? Especially with some of the new games coming out taking advantage of higher clock speeds/more cores. A 2600 CPU? Had considered the B series motherboards. Thanks for the input everyone!
