  1. I don't have an exact weight limit except that it should not be too much. I am from Ohio
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. I was not specifically looking for a disecrete GPU since I have another computer, but one is always welcome. Also, I wanted something under 14" but I can look into this laptop.
  3. I missed mentioning it before, but I am okay to buying refurbished/open box from a reputable seller like best buy, Amazon, newegg, etc. And that's a good idea. Upgrading an existing laptop.
  4. I know that there is no exact match for what I am looking for, so please recommend laptops that would be close to what I mentioned above.
  5. Many laptops are not thin/light/or small enough to be carried conveniently.
  6. I know that Chrome OS will be OK for me since I have used it before and anyway I am going to install Manjaro Linux.
  7. I have searched for a lot of laptops but have not found any that satisfy my needs perfectly. The best option I have found is the HP Chromebook x360 14. I don't care about operating systems since I am going to use Manjaro Linux, but, perfect Linux compatibility is a plus(though not the most important). The Chromebook x360 has an i3-8130u which I think will be more than enough for my needs, which are mostly editing documents and some basic programming. I have another, more powerful computer for doing occasional heavy work. I also completely need 8gb memory since I have a lot of tabs/windows open at once. More or upgradable memory is a plus. One place where the HP Chromebook loses out is storage. It has 64 gb of storage which is not enough for two operating systems. If I get that I will have to store files on an SD card. That is also the only reason I am not getting the Chromebook right away. Also, a touchscreen is an important plus, though I could live without one if I really had to. Similarly, a 2-in-1 form factor is a plus. These are some more things 12-14 inch screen 8+ hour battery life Thin and light for portability Not Hard Drive $500 maybe $600 I have also considered the Asus Chromebook flip c434 8gb version, but, I am not sure about the Core M3. Will it be enough to run multiple operations of documents, web pages, and some apps at once? And will that performance keep up for the next 4-5 years? Because in everything else, the C434 bests the x360(except for storage, I would still like 128 gb) So which one of the two laptops would you recommend, or is there another one that would work well. Thanks in advanced, Karmanyaah
  8. Qwerty, Dvorak, Colemak, or something else? While making this poll I am not expecting many people who have non-Qwerty keyboard layouts, but let's wait and watch. If you don't know what this is about, check out this Techquickie video by Taran.
  9. Just interested to know about this topic
  10. For example, why are USB 3.0 front panel connectors different from the actual ports? Why couldn't there be a normal USB 3.0 port on the motherboard and an extension cable to bring it to the front panel? This also applies to other USBs. Also, what other ports have a header vs port situation (except front panel audio, of course). I suspect it has something to do with convenience of connection vs reliability and interference, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Also, I've put this in peripherals since USB applies to them, please tell me if motherboards would be a better topic for this.
  11. 2200g is a good idea. Athlon and Celeron won't work since I might use Plex with 1-2 device (no 4k). And I'll look into the ram. Thanks for the help.?
  12. Does windows do the same? Just wondering. And, then what's the point of motherboard raid? I don't care about what kind of raid it is till my data is safe. I just found that in unraid I could add drives later on which is good for a home build. This is by no means a final list as I wouldn't be building it anytime soon. 13. I know that the answer to this might be very simple, but I want to know if there are ways around this. Is it possible to use Raid 5 with unRaid OS in a theoretical NAS build if the motherboard only officially supports raid 0,1,10? Edit: Doing the Raid without a dedicated card.
  14. Yes, hubs are, but I intend to find a solution that can replicate a hub + is on WiFi + is completely in the admin's control.
