  1. I'm trying to find a motherboard that will better support my existing ram. I ran into issues with my existing motherboard not supporting my ram at it's advertised 3200mhz, more info in the topic below: So i'm just looking for recommendations of a motherboard that's AM4 and supports this ram at 3200mhz. I have no idea how to look into this myself besides reading through QVLs for every motherboard. So i figured i'd ask here, maybe someone here has a motherboard and is already running these modules. Specifically, the modules are PN: F4-3200C16-8GTZR The exact ram: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MTDEYHU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=linus21-20
  2. I have a very strange issue. I recently purchased the parts for a new computer and put it all together. For the most part, it runs fine. I don't have issues with most of the games I play. However, in some cases the system will completely black screen and restart. I've tried looking around in event viewer for why, but can't figure it out. The most consistent case i can reproduce is when i run Escape from Tarkov. Basically, the only way i can get the game to work is if i set my native resolution to 1080p, launch the game, then set the in game resolution to 720p, load a level, then once i'm IN THE LEVEL set my resolution back up to 4k. If when i LAUNCH THE GAME the resolution is anything above 1080p, the computer will black screen and restart. If when i LOAD THE LEVEL the resolution is anything about 720p, the computer will black screen and restart. I've also experienced this black screen issue ONCE with Modern Warfare 2019, but other than that it seems to be running fine. When it did happen, lowering my resolution seemed to fix it. But, being that it only happened once i haven't really been able to reproduce it yet. Normally i would just blame Tarkov, but the fact that it's happened now in another game has me worried. The computer set up is as follows: CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 AF (12nm) Pinnacle Ridge RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200Mhz C16 Motherboard: ASRock B450m/ac GPU: RX 590 FATBOY I'm using a 500w PSU from Thermaltake, so i don't THINK it's a power issue. I've also monitored temperatures, and while the GPU does get up over 80C, it doesn't crash when i stress test it exclusively and it passes that 80C mark in other games without any issues. I'm just having difficulty pinpointing what component is causing this or what is even going on. It may also be important to note that I've been having issues with my ram speed, you can find information about that in this topic:
  3. I've reviewed the QVL for the motherboard and i think it just doesn't support it. I'm using F4-3200C16-8GTZR, they don't specifically list this however all other G.SKILL ram that's 3200 seems to be limited in a similar way.
  4. My last computer was running a Ryzen 5 2600 with this exact ram and had no problems, but that was on a gigabyte b450 aorus as well, not this ASRock board i'm using now.
  5. I tried following this guide and entered the "Safe" timings into my bios, still stuck at 2133
  6. I've already updated the bios to the latest version 1.70
  7. I can't even get it to post with them in slots 2/4 (which are labeled as A2,B2)
  8. I just updated my post, i think i have. The BIOS isn't super intuitive.
  9. I've got: CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 AF (12nm) Pinnacle Ridge RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200Mhz C16 Motherboard: ASRock B450m/ac For some reason no matter what I do, i cannot get my memory to operate at it's advertised 3200Mhz speed. For some reason, it's stuck at 2133 Mhz. I've tried putting the ram into A2, B2 and it simply doesn't post if i do that, or if it does it will only detect one of the sticks. I have to put them into A1 and B1 for them to even come up. I have a feeling that the DIMMs may be mislabeled? Or perhaps I'm misinterpreting something. I've already updated my motherboard bios to the latest version (see the provided CPU-Z "Mainboard" screenshot). I've tried enabling XMP in the bios, and i've tried changing the clock speed in the bios. It doesn't seem to do anything. But the BIOS isn't incredibly intuitive, maybe someone here knows how to use it better than I do? According to the motherboard specifications, it should support running at 3200Mhz The odd thing about this is that further down on that same page, they have this which indicates that pinnacle ridge isn't able to run at 3200 Mhz?
  10. Are case fans not really a requirement for this? Wouldn't the memory and M.2 drive need to be passively cooled?
  11. I definitely prefer performance over aesthetics. The whole thing could be in a cardboard box for all i care, so long as it's protected and runs fine.
  12. I just want to be able to play the games i care about at like medium settings? with people who i play with. I'm not super worried about "game looking pretty", i have a ps4 that does a good enough job of that for me. This is purely for the social aspect since everyone i play with is on PC.
  13. I think the most demanding game i listed was tarkov. I don't know why the rest wouldn't run at 1080p 60fps just fine on like an RX 580, or a GTX 1060. And i did say i would settle for 8GB if it came down to it and things would function.
  14. I'm trying to figure out a gaming solution for the lowest possible cost I can. I'm currently stuck on PS4 ever since I had to sell my old gaming rig, but lately i've been wanting to play some Tarkov among other things. My current budget needs to be LESS THAN $500. Some notes regarding the build: I'm totally happy with 1080p @ 60fps It only needs to support one monitor, although supporting two 1080p monitors would really be preferred. Or even one 1080p for gaming and the other at some super low resolution, so long as i can have discord on the screen since I'm often on discord while I play and i've only had bad experiences with overlays The computer will only be used for gaming / discord. Nothing else intensive will ever run on it I only need core components, no operating system or peripherals. CPU (Ryzen preferred since it comes with a cooler), GPU, PSU, Ram, Motherboard, Cooling. Case. I'd really prefer 16gb of ram, but I'd settle for 8gb if it can get the job done and support the games I'd like to play (listed below). The games I'd like to be able to play at ~60fps. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 Escape from Tarkov Battlefield V Rocket League Overwatch that's it. I'm currently using a 2018 Mac mini on two 4k displays. These would be used with a KVM i already have for gaming, but they would both run at 1080p (or one at 1080p and the other at something lower). Like i said above, i already have all of the peripherals i'd need. Things I've already considered Getting an EGPU for my mac and running bootcam Issues with this include GPU enclosures + GPU cost coming out to ~$400+ doesn't seem worth it when i'd be stuck running on a potentially buggy solution. I'd rather just have a dedicated windows computer for gaming. A gaming laptop I've had a lot of difficulty finding one in the price range I need that would support running the games I want to run at the frame rate i'd like. Pre-builds They just aren't worth it. They're all crazily over priced and then expect you to be happy with a GTX 750. --- I'm looking for recommendations on builds that would acommodate what I'm asking, while keeping the total cost including taxes at or around $500 USD. I'm not sure if this is even feasible, my expectations may be a little skewed since my last gaming computer i spent ~$2000 on and it had really top tier specs. I've been looking around for a while without much luck. So really any input would be much appreciated.
  15. The biggest issue I imagine i'll run into is that the PS4 is OMTP and the phone uses CTIA. (The ground and microphone rings are swapped on the connector). So i don't know if an off the shelf solution would be able to accommodate this.
