Hallo everyone,
I have a question regarding a graphics card upgrade for my computer. I have
AMD FX-8320 with 16 GB DDR3
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 (Socket M2): Sata 2 and PCIe 2.0 ports
Power supply: LC600H-12 V2.31 (500W)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 650Ti
I was using HDD and replaced it with a SSD (Samusng EVO 860)now. It made a small difference on the performance as the limitation coming from Sata2 port.
Mainly my goal is to make this computer capable of doing VR. There the main limitation is the graphics card. I am well aware that somehow putting a 1050 or 1060 inside will not give outstanding VR experience with this computer. But a good experience is not my goal. I am a researcher and I just want a setup at home that can execute the stuff, if I ever need it at home.
HTC Vive recommends minimum GTX 1060. Most of 1060 require PCI 3.0 as recommended. Is there any that will work with PCI2.0
So my question is which card I should put in that will just work "okay" for VR?
I will really appreciate your help. I am more of a software guy and do not processes in depth knowledge about the hardware.
Kind regards,
Atif
