    i have been asking for advice on x300 and 4650g and i finaly got em. i managed to make it run and not to over heat and to be silent but i wanted to try to make it work without compromises. x300 is under waranty so modding its case is out of question so i made another. as i see it its biggest problem is a fan that is too close to case, so noise, and also the mesh doesnt allow enough air to be pulled inside, so i made it mesh free and made case slightly bigger so it can fit wraith spire with copper core. i had it in the drawer, thats why that exact cooler i dont have tools to make proper holes for front io but that is ok bcos i mostly dont need it and when i do all the case panels are fixed by welcro on inner frame so i can remove them in a second it can still reach 80c on consecutive runs of cinebench or prime95 but in gaming it doesnt go past 70C on silent mode 4650g igpu@2300mhz 2x8 crucial balistix 3200 cl 16 running at 3533 cl 16

    and if i was ocasionaly trying to game, what kind of fps difference can i expect?

    hi all i am getting 4650g and x300 deskmini and have 2 options for memory and cant decide since i dont know how its gonna affect the apu so i can get crucial 2*8 3200 cl22 sodimm for 50 euros - new taken out of new laptop or i can get crucial balistix 2*8 3200 cl16 sodimm for 100e from amazon dont know much about memory speeds and timings especialy in x300 so not sure if its worth it to go for cl16 memory since i dont know how x300 gonna handle it, is it gonna go full speed or it will run slow as cheaper memory i would rather spend those 50 euros on larger nvme or a better cooler if its not gonna affect performance as much. any advice on this? or any other thoughts about that hardware, really appreciated thanks for any info

    @hysel yes, on both things.. well it went to a friend that fixes laptops tvs and such, so if its something simple he will hopefully find it, if not, ah well then.. all good things come to a end

    hi all problem with my x250 is that when power button is pushed, button lights up for a sec or two and it turns off. thought it was the battery but tried different one and also tried with different charger and its the same last time it was working was playing a video and i just paused and closed the lid, and that was it what i tried: reset button holding power diconecting both batteries and bios battery reseating memory removed both drives even tried different display so i beleive it might be something board and power related, and looking for any info anyone has about same or similar problem and or thing i could try that didnt cross my mind and thanks iwe got another thinkpad that i can use for experimenting but i want to keep that one alive if possible

    with nvidia 1060 netflix goes to full hd, but not above.. thing is i dont know how to check if my hdmi cable is 2.2 compliant.. it is a decent cable but is there a way to test it?

    pc with athlon 3000g is hooked to samsung 4k tv and problem is it wont play even fullhd, it plays mostly 900something or 1280 resolution, so 720p is most i can get.. i know cpu is capable, maybe not for all content, but most normal 4k and all fullhd and on 60hz.. all the usual suspects i have checked, its set to best quality, resolution is 4k@60, tried edge browser and MS store netflix app, tried installing that hevc decoder that MS wants you to buy, network speed is plenty enough and nothing, not even fullhd.. my desktop pc plays in 1080p normaly, cant get above because monitor is 1080p.. 3000g plays youtube 4k60 easily also plays anyhing 4k .265 encoded i throw at it, so the problem is something stupid that i cant get a hold of.. aaand smart tvs are really dumb compared to a pc so dont like using tv software if i dont have to So? any ideas what i can try next? is it even possible to play 4k on pc? thanks for any suggestions!

    hi all i mount my windows shares with this in fstab //192.168.1.10/backup /mnt/backup cifs username=xxx,password=xxx 0 0 buut when i close my laptop for a while those shares doesnt work any more, are busy or something so they cant be unmounted or mounted, so only reboot will do and that takes few min because mx have mounted drives wich cant be unmounted.. that or button power off.. so i look for a way if possible to unmount everything when i close lid on laptop so it doesnt break while in standby, i can easily remount everything with mount -a umountnfs.sh works well for unmounting but duno how to use it automaticaly when laptop goes to standby system is mx kde on thinkpad x260 thanks ;)

    chrome have it turned on by default plus i tried enabling few other settings in chrome://flags -> gpu but no luck

    stats for nerds say it is vp09 and vlc codec info says it is google/on2,s VP9 video (vp90)

    tried chrome, edge and firefox.. chrome and edge stutters when cpu is overwhelmed and firefox just freezes the picture and never continue while audio goes on

    i tried asking this on reddit but no luck so ill try here now ive got old phenom 4 core cpu running at 4ghz. its hooked to a 4k tv now(was 1080p). it is too old to decode 4k@60 youtube by it self. but i own 1060 wich according to internet doesnt have required hardware decoder for vp9. thing is, if i try to watch 4k directly from yt cpu goes 100% and its no good ,but if i download the file and try to watch it, gpu takes over and it works flawlesly, while it is still vp9 codec.. so why doesnt it work from browser? so i am sure gpu is able to decode video since it is a direct download, no convert or recode and its codec says its vp9 4k video, gpu is used about 40-50% while doing that and cpu about 10-15%. so is there a way to watch 4k youtube on pc, some alternative to browsers, program or something that will alow the use of gpu? or am i getting something wrong here about how things work? thanks!

    I have a thinkpad with two drives running w10 and mx kde, and i got a newer version of laptop but unfortunately it cant hold two drives. i know i can leave half a drive empty and install linux alonside win10 but its kinda pain in the a** when i allready have all setup as i want it in backup images of both, what i am asking is it possible to clone mx kde instalation from original laptop to the secondary partition of new laptop and make win and linux boot somehow with few commands from terminal or from windows? installing or fixing boomanager? i am not new to computers but this is something i didnt try before and dunno how to go about it having only one drive is cra* tbh but it is what it is, lets try to make the best of it

    i own x240, x250 and x260... i had a weird problem on x250, cpu temps would spike in seconds from 50 to 90, it would jump from 65 to 90 back to 70 and then back to 90.. i tried repasting and remounting cooler couple of times but that wasnt it, everthing was up to date and i was sure i didnt make a mistake because all the same procedure was done on x240 and x260 and all is good..while in windows temps would go crazy but in linux it would act normal which was weird.. then some.nice dude from reddit told.me that i shouldnt put paste on smaller die on cpu, i thought that cant be it because x240 and x260 had no problems, but tried anyway cos i had no moves left and taadaaa sensor/temp issue was gone. its was weird, stupid and pain in the a** to solve.. so here it is, hope this helps ps: i still have x240 and x260 paste on both dies and it doesnt seem to cause problems

    HI all, i have been tinkering with linux on a occasion for a few months now and i have got past most basic stuff. I have tried a few distros but i am most comfortable using mint kubuntu and last few days mx kde. now, all the stuff i do i think i can manage doing in linux instead in windows, well except gaming. steam is apparently great for gaming on linux but what can one do when all that one has is steam account and zero games from steam. i own 2 gpus, rx580 and 1060, rx 580 is in main pc atm(ryzen2600). Is it possible to game on linux without steam or somehow use steam for allready installed games or install games outside steam with steam? i tried twice with world of warships and witcher, wow's failed both times with broken graphics, witcher kinda worked with about 10 fps. Is there any guide or a tutorial for what i am trying to do if it is even possible thanks

    i dont know wich one is it and wont go disasemble the case now BUT i know it has relatively weak 12v rail, i think it is 25-30 amps and shuts down when gpu(rx580) hits 100% so i took antec 650w(12v 50 amps) from my other case and all is well now, be quiet now powers my old phenom x4@3.9ghz and 120w gtx 1060 and that works just fine also
