  1. Definitely calm, I explained the situation and the rep said they would talk about it internally and after that I'll just got a denial. I replied I wasn't used to this and maybe they could be more forgiving because it was only two weeks out of warranty, but they just denied. There was no service possible and no help from Asus to maybe fix it myself. It was just like: then it's probably dead, you'll need to buy a new card.
  2. You know what's funny, I managed to fix the card on my own. As I was going for a workaround on the card, thinking plugging in the fan connector on the motherboard somehow and controlling it trough software like fanspeed, I noticed one of the pins of the fan connector was sticking out a little. I gave it a firm push and now the card is working again. Not with any help whatsoever from Asus. If there technicians did there job just the slightly, they could have saved me a lot of trouble. This is easy knowledge for them, they could have asked me if the pins where ok. I'm not very technical at all, so I didn't thought this could be the issue. That said, I'm not buying Asus anytime soon, what Ross is saying is totally correct, very much so because I'm in the market for a new rig. I'm not spending money on products from a company that are only capable of telling me a product is out of warranty end of story. And providing no service when something brakes two weeks out of warranty, maybe that's ok where you come from but here it's just plain idiotic.
  3. Yes this is exactly what I mean, thank you. I understand all others and don't disagree, I suppose where they are from companies don't really care much about there customers. Here in The Netherlands, however, it's common a company does it best to go the extra mile to make sure a customer is happy. Not helping in any way when a product is only two weeks out of warranty sure is playing by there own rules but is considered pretty bad service. And denying it without any offer of help to try and isolate the problem or other sollution ( like offering a open box card or new card with a discount for example) is considered pretty rude around these parts. So no, I'm definitely not buying or recommending Asus products anytime soon as I know there are many companies that do go the extra length.
  4. If you are serious about editing 4k material, you should at least use 32gb of ram. You might pull off 16gb if it's only once in a while, but it's not recommended. So if you will be doing 4k editing on a regular basis, definitely go for 32gb with maybe room to upgrade in the future( so take 2x16 instead of 4x8, you can put in another 2x16 in the future)
  5. So one would think. But it actually beat the Rx 580 in fps scores. And I don't know any cheaper then a free repair or replacement really. I'm having a fury replacing it atm, also happy with that.
  6. This is actually not entirely true. The consumer laws in my country state that a product needs to be working for the amount of time that you may expect from a product. That means, by law, the 3 year warranty Asus stated doesn't really mean anything. But the law is sadly vague and the question is, how long can you expect a graphics card to run normally untill it brakes. So maybe it's black and white in Canada or the USA, I'm used to different costumer service. Most company actually cares about consumers and will never deny service when something breaks only two weeks out of warranty.
  7. I don't know, they only said they wouldn't repair it for me. That's it, they didn't offer any other options. But even if they would, it would probably come down to be more expensive then a new card all together.
  8. I don't care, there are great companies out there who go and provide service far longer then there warranty states. I can't think of any company that I dealt with in the past that would make a fuzz about something stupid like this. Because they care about there customers.
  9. So, my Asus ROG Trix 290x, that has done a great job in my system for 3 years, which I bought brand new, died on me two weeks outside it's normal warranty, which is 3 years from Asus where I live. It actually didn't totally die, but the fans ramp up to 100%, immediately when I turn on my PC. The vendor says it's a pcb issue or at least the card is telling the fans to speed up to 100%. It's definitely not a cooling issue since all thermals are fine. But, solving the problem is not why I'm posting. I'm posting because I get zero service from Asus on this matter. Yes, you could state that this card broke outside it's warranty, but I couldn't believe my ears when Asus denied any kind of customer service or coulance because it was only 2 darn weeks out of the warranty of 3 years. They didn't even offer any other kind of service, they just told me 'bad luck, we won't do anything'. I know companies that go and provide real service to there customers, but as Asus is mentioned so many times on the channel, I just wanted to add my 2 ct and warn people that this is actually how they handle things at Asus Anno 2018. At least I know I won't buy any Asus products anymore.
