Hi guys,
I got a question regarding newer GPU on older hardware. With the new Nvidia GPU launch, I’m planning on switching out my RTX 2080 TI with a new 30-series card.
With the new 3070 card outperforming my 2080 TI (quite ridiculous!), I’m just going to keep rather than selling it. I have an older system that I’m currently using at my parents vacation house. These are the specs:
MoBo: ASUS Rampage IV Formula, Socket-2011
PSU: Corsair AX 860i, 860W
CPU: Intel Core i7-4820K
GPU: 2x ASUS GeForce GTX 780 3GB SLI
RAM: Kingston DDR3 HyperX Beast 16GB
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 240GB 2.5"
Then to my question, will switching out the old 780’s with my RTX 2080 TI give me any performance boost on this system? Or are the other components too old and all I will experience is one big bottleneck?
My reason for asking is that I would rather have some performance improvement on my old computer, then to sell my card on a market already filled with people trying to get rid of their Turing cards for a fraction of the price it cost.
Thanks in advance for any help!
