  1. Hi guys, I got a question regarding newer GPU on older hardware. With the new Nvidia GPU launch, I’m planning on switching out my RTX 2080 TI with a new 30-series card. With the new 3070 card outperforming my 2080 TI (quite ridiculous!), I’m just going to keep rather than selling it. I have an older system that I’m currently using at my parents vacation house. These are the specs: MoBo: ASUS Rampage IV Formula, Socket-2011 PSU: Corsair AX 860i, 860W CPU: Intel Core i7-4820K GPU: 2x ASUS GeForce GTX 780 3GB SLI RAM: Kingston DDR3 HyperX Beast 16GB Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 240GB 2.5" Then to my question, will switching out the old 780’s with my RTX 2080 TI give me any performance boost on this system? Or are the other components too old and all I will experience is one big bottleneck? My reason for asking is that I would rather have some performance improvement on my old computer, then to sell my card on a market already filled with people trying to get rid of their Turing cards for a fraction of the price it cost. Thanks in advance for any help!
  2. Hi guys, First of all I would like to apologise if this topic has been asked and answered several times before on this forum. It probably is. I am considering buying a second RTX 2080 TI and put it in SLI. I can see that this forces my motherboard to put it in x8x8 instead of x16. Is it correct that the NVLink will cancel the downside of this decrease in bandwith? Are there any other downsides I should take into account before going SLI? Any problems with my other components while using SLI? Thanks alot guys. My current rig: MoBo: Asus Formula XI CPU: i9 9900K GPU: Asus RTX 2080 TI ROG Strix Adv. PSU: be quiet! 1200W
  3. Thanks guys for your replies. I’m much wiser now!
  4. Hey! I’ve got a question regarding processor and RAM compatibility. I’m building a new gaming rig and I’m thinking of going with the Intel i7-8086k. I’m also considering 4x8 GB RAM to go with it. On Intel’s webpage I read that it supports up to DDR4 2666 MHz RAM and a Max # of memory channels of 2. From this I have some questions: 1 - Should I avoid getting any RAM that is above 2666 MHz, or will it still work perfectly if I get some that has say 3000 MHz. 2 - That the max number og memory channels is 2, does that mean I should get RAM that is dual channel? Or does it mean that i should only have 2 sticks of RAM? Or maybe none of the above and means something else entirely?:) Thanks for any help! Susp8t
