  1. Thanks for your reply! Thanks! That saves me buying an additional AP! Awesome - that's good to know! Just need to buy the kit access points now! Any recommendations always welcomed! (Although supply is limited where I live.)
  2. I want to upgrade my home network. I live in a fairly large ground floor villa, with thick concrete walls. This makes the wifi in my home terrible when using my ISPs provided router. I'm planning on upgrading using a combination of my own router, a couple of switches, and several access points. Is the this diagram a good networking setup? Is it OK to connect an access point off a switch rather than directly off the router? Can I use unmanaged switches in this setup? The switches are positioned where I have a lot of fixed hardware (PCs, TVs, consoles, etc). Any help or guidance would be really appreciated! In my previous home, I used power line adapters extensively as they were easy to setup. Unfortunately I've moved country and they don't play nicely with my current setup/ring mains.
  3. Luckily, I've received an RMA number for the card. However, I'm not sure if I should RMA the card as it hasn't yet reached 110°C. 102°C does seem painfully close, but I'm not sure if that is a normal temperature. If RMA is not necessary, I can write back to the retailer saying it's not needed.
  4. TL;DR Should I return my reference model AMD RX 7900 XTX if the junction temperature is hitting 102°C? How can I fully stress test my card to see if I will hit the dreaded 110°C? Longer version: I recently bought the reference model AMD RX 7900 XTX after watching a bunch of reviews (including the LTT review). Then, after buying the card, I read a wave of reports stating that certain 7900 XTX cards have been hitting 110°C and thermal throttling (kind of annoying this wasn't picked up during reviews, maybe the review cards were pre-tested?) To "test" my card I played Cyberpunk 2077 max settings at 1440p with ray tracing on. I hit GPU utilisation of 100% (reported in AMD Adrenalin). After an hour of playing, current temperature was 80°C current temperature and junction temperature was 102°C. I had to stop playing, so I'm not sure if these temperatures would have risen further. Is this temperature range normal for a GPU? My previous GPU was a GTX 1080 which hit about 80°C too, I'm not sure what the hotspot temperature was. Is there a test I can run to properly stress test my GPU? Thanks! 5. Hi, I'm facing a really frustrating issue where my system regularly freezes. I have no idea what is causing the issue, but I suspect it's my graphics card. How do I identify which piece of hardware is faulty (or confirm it's the GPU). I switched my GPU to a very, very old one and the issue went away so that indicates GPU in my view. Is there anything I can do to fiz the issue? Any help on this would be amazing! Description of issue Every so often, my system will freeze. I'll be unable to provide any inputs (e.g. moving mouse or typing has no affect) and the display will freeze for 2-3 seconds. Then, the display will go black for 2-3 seconds. Then my display will reappear and everything will be back to normal. If I was playing a game, the game will crash during this. 6. Yes, the NVMe SSD is a relative new addition. Previously, Windows was installed on my SSDs in RAID 0. Here're the steps that I've taken, this seems to have fixed my issue! Deleted and re-created my RAID 0 volume. Unplugged all non boot drives. Performed clean install of windows. Deleted all partitions from my boot drive. In the future, I'll make sure to delete all partitions from my boot drive before installing. Thanks for your help!
  7. Thanks, so the partitions look normal. Any reason why there are multiple instances of Windows being detected?
  8. After performing a clean install of windows, I am prompted to select which OS I would like to load on boot. I'm not sure why multiple versions of Windows are detected. Here are the steps I followed: Created bootable USB drive using Windows Media Creation Tool. Shut down PC. Unplugged all HDDs/SSDs except for the drive I want to install Windows on. Turned on PC, booted from USB. Format my intended boot drive* following Windows installation dialogue. Clean install of windows. When I boot, Windows asks if I want to boot either: Windows 10 (on volume 3) Windows 10 Why am I seeing two options? *I can see multiple partitions on my intended boot drive: Drive 2 Unallocated Space Drive 2 Partition 1 (Type = System) Drive 2 Partition 2 (Type = MSR (Reserved)) Drive 2 Partition 3 (Type = Primary) For context my system has the following drives: 1x NVMe SSD (intended boot drive) 2x SSDs in RAID ZERO (intended to store games) 2x HDDs in RAID ONE (intended to store documents)
  9. Fingers crossed! I've gone back to ASUS saying that there are 6 dead pixels.
  10. Thanks! I'm just worried that ASUS will still reject and argue that some of these aren't in fact dead pixels.
  11. Hi, For xmas this year, I was lucky enough to receive an ASUS VG27AQ monitor. The monitor was ordered by my wife quite early before xmas at the beginning of November for fear of stock shortages. Whilst I received the monitor on 25th Dec, I wasn't actually able to use the monitor until a couple of days ago 4th Jan. When I started using the monitor I noticed that there was a black dot/smudge that wouldn't go away. Alas, these turned out to be a cluster of dead pixels! My first response was to go direct to ASUS under their warranty. I completed an RMA request and sent an image of the dead pixels to ASUS. ASUS rejected the RMA on the basis that their tolerance level is 3-5 dead pixels. I'm struggling to count the dead pixels as I don't really know what counts. I've attached an image of the dead pixels below, how many do you think there are? I've also started a return process with the Seller Aria PC. I live in the UK and should be covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However, I know that starting a legal battle will be slow and that the seller probably won't honour it. Can anyone provide any advice? I'm really upset as this wasn't a cheap monitor and if I had seen the dead pixels earlier I would have instantly returned. TL;DR How many dead pixels can you see below? What can I do to get a refund? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks
  12. Solved my own question! For those interested, the issue was due to the channels being selected by my router. Full credit to Solandri on Tom's Hardware who posted this: Interesting that this is due to weather radar!
  13. I'm having a really weird issue where none of my devices can connect to the 5GHz band of my router (RT-AX56U). They can connect to the 2.4GHz network. This is weird because all of these devices should be able to connect to 5GHz, these are devices like smartphones, laptops, TV etc. I recently replaced my router because my old one (TP-LINK Archer C7) was facing the same issue. I thought that the router was busted so bought a new one. Any ideas what is going on??
  14. I can't see any of my devices connected to my network from my router admin page. The specific devices that I can't see are those which are connected to my WiFi Extender. Not sure why this is? I've turned off DHCP server on my WiFi extenders as I want my router to handle IP assignment. My router is an ASUS RT-AX56U. My WiFi extenders are TP-Link RE505X. Any ideas?
