  1. The only issue is with the case design and how dense its already going to be, there may not be anywhere to put them that doesn't cost airflow. I also though about turning my old PC into a NAS. Is there a way I can do that, and its via a ethernet connection rather then wirelessly? (Looking at this video)
  2. Even though the radiator will be positioned at the top of the case??? In the video, Linus has the fans in a pulling air up from the bottom and out the top orientation, so I can't imagine the side panels are contributing much if at all. Hey, all I'm saying is Linus showed its possible to do it in this case with a 3080 FE, a capture card, and a compatible MOBO. Purpose is just to avoid data loss to the utmost degree. Redundant beyond redundant? Yes, but I've had hard drive failure before that's cost me LOTS of money in reimbursement to clients.
  3. Budget (including currency): I got the dough, but ideally 2500 and under. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex Legends, No Man Sky, Shadow of War, The Witcher 3, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere. Want to be able to hit at 120 FPS on 4K in games (I have a Sony X900H I'll be gaming on) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So here's where the fun begins. I want to create a SFF PC very similar to this build Linus about a year back, but with some key differences. The major differences are: - Same case, the Sliger 580 w/ bifurcated PCIe slots, but with a window panel on the CPU side (I have the NZXT Z53 I'm bringing from my last build), and instead of two 140 MM fans at the bottom, I want to place two 2.5" SSD drives in the spot where one fan could go. These are the drives I'd like to be in RAID - Speaking of RAID, instead of a capture card, I'd like to do a RAID controller connecting to the two SATA SSDs (As a photographer, I'm bringing over a LOT of data and files) - 5800 CPU instead of the 3900 - A non FE 3080 where all the fans face the same direction and pull air in through the slotted panel. My questions are as I begin this process: - In 2022, is a dedicated RAID card necessary, or could I get by with just a software based controller? Keep in mind, I'll also have two NVMe SSDs where the games, apps, and non work related files will be kept. - Will loosing a 140MM fan significantly reduce airflow and performance? Even if I'm using a GPU that's technically better then the FE at cooling a sandwich style layout?
  4. I'm not sure what you mean by that. Explain like I'm 5?
  5. So I recently started playing Shadow of War. Using Geforce Experience it auto configures the image quality to Ultra, however despite it being auto set to ultra, my frame rate is still consistently below 50fps, dipping sometime below 30. Even when I auto config within the game it sets everything to auto, so my assumption is my rig should be able to handle 60fps at Ultra(?). My specs are a Ryzen 7 1700, Msi Geforce 1070, and 32gb of ram. I'm running the game off of an ssd, and I don't have Large Page Mode enabled but I'm working on getting it turned on, but I doubt that alone will fix my problem... right? p.s. When running ultra, the hottest my GPU has gotten is the 71-74C range, so its not throttling.
  6. I know this is probably such a stupid question, but what is the difference in size between 140mm case fan and a 240 radiator (obviously size, but in thickness or length) Bottom line my question is this; if I ask Santa for a AIO that has a radiator that’s 240mm, will it fit the case holes that are currently being inhabited by two 140 fans?
  7. I have a Ryzen 7 1700 and MSI gaming plus 1070. I have Open Hardware Monitor and Ryzen Master open constantly to keep tabs on the temps. They aren't bad, but living in Texas and doing my work/gaming in a room that gets sunlight and direct heat from the sun for 75% of the day, I worry. Is there a software program that'll alert me when my temps reach a certain level (I try to keep everything below 70c and it works most the time), something that'll "ding" if they reach a certain temperature? Real Temp isn't an option bc it isn't compatible with my CPU(?), so what else ya got?
  8. I've had this MSI 1070 gaming x for about a month and a half, and the fans won't run according to their fan control properties. This is the most expensive part of my build, so its very frustrating that it is having so much difficulty simply running fans. Fans won't even start in games. Rather, it start, and then stop almost instantly.
  9. See thats what i thought, but when i had it the other way it wasn't really helping my heat. in fact having it this way drops the temp by 3 degrees
  10. Yeah, it bounces from 1.08 to 1.3 volts If i take the side panel off, wouldn't the decrease in heat happen regradless?
