  1. From the 17th of October you will be able to satisfy your gaming needs by popping into your local Aldi. The retailer will start selling the Medion Gaming Desktop PC and Medion 15.6 Inch Gaming Notebook. Unfortunately these will only be available in the UK. Both devices are retailing at £949.99 although the desktop seems to provide more "bang for the buck". With it's Intel Core i5-9400 Processor & GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. I guess it would be quite easy to compare the PC's with the Wallmart devices, which compared to the Medion are designed "in house". 2. Real world images of Google's Pixel 3 smartphone have leaked revealing that indeed the Pixel 3XL's little sister will be notch free. Specs look good, how do they compare to the previous generation? The pictures from the original post on Reddit are below: The Pixel 3 appears to be miniaturised version of the Pixel 2XL, which I for one am happy about, who needs a notch anyway? 3. The British tech company Dyson has unveiled plans for a 10-mile test track dedicated to testing their electric cars. The new facility is expected to become a "world-class vehicle testing campus strengthening Dyson's R&D credentials. The car is set to launch in 2020, with no details given, maybe it will be a road sweeper? And now for some patriotism: Great news for the south-west region with Dyson continuing their investment after setting up an engineering institute in 2017. From electric vacuums to electric vehicles Sir Dyson is definitely an inspiration and gets full respect from me at least. Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-45345778
  4. Effective from August 21st Mayfield Robotics, the company behind the Kuri home robot, is pausing operations. Launched through Bosch's Startup Platform in 2015 the company failed to develop commercial partnerships leading to the decision to cease operations in October. Another unfortunate end for a "smart assistant" company and it seems likely that we will see more news of this type as the main players develop their solutions further. 5. The issue talked about in the article is to do with google maps, not Android itself. Last I heard Google Maps was still the better option on iOS (correct me if I'm wrong), so switching won't make much difference in this case.
  6. A team of Princeton researchers has confirmed AP's claim that Google records users location data even when "location history" is paused. It seems that the only effect of pausing location history is to stop users, and not Google, from seeing where they have been. To be honest I would prefer if Google was more upfront about the quantity of data they gather instead of giving seemingly useless options to disable/pause "Location history"; definitely now that consumers only have the choice between Android and iOS.
