  1. I am a noob to building. Current configuration I'm planing. -AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor -Stock AMD air cooler included with CPU -Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard -G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory -Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive < could change to save money -NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB Video Card -Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic ATX Full Tower Case Current estimated wattage is 389W I was looking at the Corsair RMx (2018). 650 W, 80+ Gold, Fully Modular, ATX. I tried doing some research to figure this out. But doing the math, just turns my brain off. From my basic understanding, you want some room to play, but not to much room. My question, what wattage should I go with. I'm not overclocking, with normal day to day use while running as a Plex server.
  2. Thanks for the help, and suggestions, greatly appreciate it...
  3. Being that I have a Nvidia shield, I'll probably go with a Nvidia brand, being that you can stream games from your PC, using a Nvidia GPU.
  4. My budget is $1500. Currently, I'm looking at spending 966.96, while needing a GPU, and case left to consider.
  5. I'm guessing, I'm really just looking to build something well rounded. And of course long lasting.
  6. In this area, I can be all over the place, using different programs, for different things. Tho, generally, I'm using adobe Ai, and Ps. Depending on what I'm doing, I'll dabble in some 3D programs, like blender. Currently, due to the restraints of my current set up. I usually play Cities Skylines. This game seems to be heavy on RAM, I have no real issue running it on my Dell inspiron 7547, with an i5, not sure what GPU, other then it being a Intel(R) HD Graphics. But I would like to play shooter games, COD, and things like that.
  7. I am a noob to building. Configuration I'm planing -AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor -Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard -AMD stock air cooler -G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory -Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive I have no plans to overclock, or tinker with this computer, after it's built, aside from cleaning it from time to time. This computer will be my daily driver, work station, art studio, etc. While simultaneously being a Plex server. Multiple devices running 1080p content, with future plans to upgrade to 4K devices, and streaming 4K content. With the option of playing games. The motherboard has a HDMI port, so I'm assuming a graphics card isn't necessarily needed. I'm also assuming, in order for me to play games, and watch 4K content on my monitor, I'll need a graphics card. Not looking to spend a lot, if needed, what's the best graphics card for this configuration, and my needs? Of course while keeping consistent in performance with the overall configuration.
  8. Thanks for the advise. It'll be nice, being one less thing to worry about.
  9. I am a noob to building, but I am instinctual when it comes to tech. Fast learner. I'm going with a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, on a Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX AM4 Motherboard. I'm going with air cooling, for a few reasons, mostly having to do with upkeep. Not looking to tinker, and overclock. Just build and play, and clean as needed. RGB is ok, but not needed. The majority of work, this computer will be dealing with, is streaming 1080p content to multiple devices throughout the house using plex. With future plans to upgrade some of these device to 4K. Simultaneously, while streaming to multiple devices, I'll be using the computer as a daily driver. It'll be an art studio for me, using programs like Adobe Ai, MF8, blender. With the option of gaming on top. I'm not sure how much strain, if any will be put onto this CPU. So not sure if the stock air cooler will be sufficient. I mean, I'm not overclocking, but I also do not want something, where the fan is at full blast, the entire time I'm using it. I was looking at a few be quiet air coolers. Maybe a Dark Rock 4, or Dark Rock slim. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks for your help. I'm probably going to go with something I'm familiar with, just for piece of mind.
  11. Greatly appreciate your help. It didn't occur to me, until you said something. I knew transcoding was CPU based. lol I believe you're right, WD Red, or IronWolf is the way to go. Thanks
  12. Perhaps, the firecuda could work? I've only found them with 2TB's tho.
  13. Looking to upgrade my hard drives in my QNap TS-451+. I mostly use this thing as a Plex server. The drives I have in it now, have been a few HDD WD green drives. Had them for about 6 or more years, without a problem, with two of them failing on me in the past few months, with only two left, with one in bad health. It's time to upgrade. Been looking at the Seagate drives, the Barracuda, Firecuda, and the Iron wolf. I've also been looking at the WD Blue, and samsung Evo 860 SSD's. I've been thinking of upgrading the hard drive in my laptop as well. I'm going with a SSD in my laptop. But thought, with an adaptor, could I put a few SSD's in my QNap as well. I'm looking for longevity, and tho, I could get greater capacity from a HDD, I'm also looking for high capacity. I'm also looking for some speed. Not sure if a SSD would help with plex transcoding. If an SSD could help with plex transcoding, I might pay the price. Or go with a traditional HDD for capacity, or go with the best of two worlds, and get a SSHD. Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Reading through some of the other threads. I'm guessing I shouldn't skimp out on just any SSD, due to lifespan. I mean, I'm at least half way through the lifespan of the computer tho. And have plans to build my own, sometime later this year. Still want this computer running tho, especially for the next few months, until I get around to building its replacement. Thanks tho, any recommendations on brands I should look for. I know Samsung, and WD are probably good options.
  15. My computer is starting to show its age. I have a lot of performance issues, most of which seems to be coming from Disk C, and RAM, when monitoring the computers performance. Disk C, always seems to be at 100% use, while the computer is running slow, with 6GB of RAM, tho not maxed out, it's still above 5GB's of use. Ordered 16Gb (2X8Gb) CMS RAM, and I'm thinking of upgrading the hard drive to a SSD. Also ordered a new cooling fan, because that is making noise, just recently. Anywho, the CPU, and GPU, seem to never over run. So I don't think my performance issues has anything to do with them. It's running a i5 4210u 1.70GHz to 2.40GHz. Not sure what the GPU is. Really don't put much stress to the system. Usually just watching stuff on my Plex account, and sometimes playing cities skylines. Like to get back into using Blender, but performance issues with this computer discourage me from even trying to use it. Any idea what the issue might be. Would it be worth upgrading the hard drive to a SSD. And will any SSD due, as long as it has a 2.5 connection? Or should I factory reset the system?
