Yeah the thing is I didn't wanna go aftermarket cause I never planned on over-clocking but at this point I just wanna get this computer built. I got everything put together outside the case and everything seems to work (like they all light up) ((haven't installed windows iso yet)) But yeah I can try to reach out to MSI.
-
Yeah sorry I didn't know that was a thing new to the forum thanks for the tip

Yeah that's the exact one I got when I took the clip mounts off but the threads of the back plate don't go high enough unfortunately.

Hey this is gonna sound kinda odd but does anyone happen to have or know where I could find the stock backplate for a MSI b350 tomahawk motherboard I need it for the stock wraith spire cooler that came with my R5 1600. I bought a backplate online but that only works with clip on coolers. Or another backplate that would be compatible with AM4 socket and a screw in style cooler like the wraith spire. I was trying to save some money and bought a used mobo that didn't come with I/o shield or stock backplate. As a last resort can anyone point me in the direction of a clip-on cooler that I could use with the backplate I bought that is also AM4 compatible?

Yeah at first I was looking for 144hz but then I realized how pricey it is I mean do you think it would be worth spending my own money to get a nice monitor for the future too? Cause I was gonna just get a kinda cheap one now and then maybe later in life have a dual monitor setup like I have now (with my laptop and a shitty like low res second monitor)

Hey I was just wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a cheap monitor I can use with the rig I am making maybe with AMD freesync? I only need it for 1080 I was thinking maybe the HP 22cwa 21.5 in Pavilion, Acer R240HY bidx 23.8-Inch IPS, Acer SB220Q bi 21.5" Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS Ultra-Thin Zero Frame Monitor. Trying to keep it in the $100 range so I can get it for Christmas but yeah I don't really know much about monitors so some suggestions would be very helpful!

lol I didn't plan on getting them all on amazon I just wanted to show the cart so people could know the specific things I wanted haha. Also I like your list too thanks for helping out. Also do you think 450W psu would be enough?? I know the power consumption of this build is low but for the future you know?

Fair so would you say Hz would be more important then?

The title is pretty self explanatory but I have been pc gaming with 1080p on low to medium settings. I'm building a new computer and I want to know is it worth moving to 4K just for gaming, or is 4K more of a workstation thing for photoshop and apps like that because 4K monitors aren't cheap haha

Also what do you think about the 270 or even 170 strix motherboard or do you think 370 so eventually I could upgrade to a better CPU? Also does the 8700K typically run hot like do you think I could get a way with a fan cooler? Also if I don't wanna overclock is there a CPU that's good for gaming but not overclockable? and final question is do you think I need a 1080 for just 4K but not VR?

Do you think I would need 32 Gb of ram?

I just got a pretty good paying job recently and thought I would celebrate with a new computer. Obviously I am not like a millionaire but I would say I would have about $2,000 USD to spend on it. The one thing is I don't care about gaming in VR I just want something I can use dual monitors and play Ark and watch youtube and or twitch. But this computer would be almost exclusively for gaming and content consumption not creation. I was thinking about upgrading to a system that can run games in 4k iv'e never had a computer that could do that before. I know that I want the BitFenix Neo case which is a mid tower so prob an atx board going for kind of a white color scheme. I'm asking for help because I don't know what GPU and CPU would be good for what I want. Thanks for the advice much love<3

I got my laptop about 4-5 years ago its a msi GE70 2PE Apache Pro its running an CPU: I7 4710HQ @ 2.50 GHz 4 core GPU: Nivida GTX 860M Ram: 12 GB disk HGST HTS721010A9E630 500 GB harddrive Windows 10 64 bit Basically it gets super hot as msi's do Now that i'm done college I don't need the portability of a laptop anymore. I'm not gonna get rid of the laptop but I want to build a desktop for my daily driver. When I game I look into the task manager and it seems like most of the load is on memory and disk. I have an additional external fan because my CPU would get really hot like 180 degree F. The main game I am playing at the moment is Ark which is poorly optimized to begin with right now I run it at low to medium settings but I would like to run it at highish at good frame rate. Internet isn't the problem I have decently fast internet. I'm looking at the BitFenix aurora mid tower. I'm also thinking about a matx msi board like bazooka I don't really plan on SLI or anything. My friend said the matx in a midtower might look kinda odd. I really only intend to use this for gaming work stuff will be on my laptop so I can bring it to and from work. I would like to stick with intel processors rather then AMD and nivida graphics. But yeah I'm looking for advice for... brand and amount of Ram CPU I was thinking i5 8400k GPU or GPU(s) ((although i'm new at this so idk if I can SLI)) also should I go for atx or matx board For budget I don't have unlimited money but I managed to save like 1000ish but I could wait until I get more I would like to get the best bang for the buck gaming performance
