  1. they do have thunderbolt. the question is, will the integrated graphics route video through the dock via an pci-e usb c card
  2. Agreed, but that's the not use case. Here is a little more context I probably should have added. I gave a guy a new laptop at work (I am a sysadmin at a small software company). We are moving away from desktops to laptops, and as a part of this move to laptops we are adding dell docking stations to every desk to facilitate mobility in the office. This guy wants to work from home a few days a week. He bought a matching docking station for himself at home and wants to be able to plug his work laptop AND his home desktop to it so he doesnt have to swap cables in his home office. Wondering if the USB C card will work in this case, so he can just swap easily. He is not playing games, etc.
  3. I am not sure which thread would be best for this question. Would a new Dell USB C docking station (Dell Dock- WD19 130 PD) + Dell Inspiron 660 Desktop with integrated graphics + a PCI-E PCI Express 4X to USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) 2-Port Type C Expansion Card work with two monitors?
  5. A co-worker has a dell laptop and he suspects at least one of the fans in it are not running. I have used SpeedFan in the past, but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a newer utility for monitoring fan speed in a laptop? Thanks!
  6. Thanks, Secret Server does look pretty good, Any idea of what it costs, roughly?
  7. Is there such a thing as multi-user password management programs? Where you can have different levels of access for passwords? Thanks!
  8. That all sounds like good advice, and I will try to follow ii, especially about the autotune. Any pointers on how to do that stuff. It's not showing in my signature, and might have some bearing, but I have i7-9700k with a Corsair H100iv2 AIO, and my video is nvidia gtx1070ti. That is my weak point, I guess, Any advice, considering that? I mostly play MMO RPGs, but the most challenging game I play right now is FF15. Monitor is an ultrawide 1080 with 160hz refresh.
  9. What are the things you change in the BIOS with a new motherboard? This is my first decent motherboard, an Aorus z390 Ultra. I have enabled XPM, and used the autotune to overclock a little, but I am a total noob at motherboards and their settings. I would appreciate any advice, links to videos/tutorials, especially by people with experience with Aorus motherboards in general, and the z390 Ultra in particular. Thank you in advance!
  10. @GoldenLag that was kind of what i was thinking... also, when new cards come out, they will be sky high priced, and I am seeing some sales on 1080ti's right now...
  11. And I am on the fence about team red or team blue... I would like to support team red because team blue are d*******s but it really is a better choice for my use case. Suggestions and guidance on that is also appreciated! As is all the advice here so far! thanks! RS
  12. @GoldenLag and @Konrad_K conflicting suggestions... someone want to come in with the tie breaker??
