  1. I don't think the i5 will be able to keep up, but the i7 will definitely do a much better job and shouldn't be a major bottleneck.
  2. Alright, it appears that I looked up the wrong stuff lol sorry Thanks for correcting me, at least I learned something.
  3. i836 is used for 32 bit and x86-64 is for 64 bit. Literally look it up.
  4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_80386 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64 i386 is the abbreviation of the first 32 bit cpu, the intel 80386
  5. 32 bit is either i386 or 32 bit. x86 stands for x86-64, meaning it is 64 bit.
  6. x86 is a shorter way of saying x86-64, so 64 bit.
  7. You don't need another type. If one stick works fine, it just means you are unlucky. It is good ram, and it's quite a good price (from newegg), so i'd just rma it, and if you are nice to the support person, they might give you a bit of a discount no guarantees
  8. Definitely. Currently I use that mouse as my main and it's been wonderful.
  9. I see. Did you save the box? Please say you did, you will need to RMA it.
  10. Honestly, it's probably going to be impossible without an enterprise version of Chrome (good luck getting that), so try to teach him how to know what and what not to do/download. An adblocker will do wonders for him if you don't have it already. A strong antivirus will be tremendous (I recommend malwarebytes, it has a good suite of other products that you should also have). Stuff like Adwcleaner and frequent scans from an antivirus and roguekiller should prevent a huge issue. And if you have your files in the same computer, make sure you have off-site backups and if possible an encrypted folder.
  11. Alright. In that case, you probably will need to look into a new board/rmaing it depending on where you got it. That probably is the issue. And for now, even though it has worse dual channel performance, use 1 and 3 if possible.
  12. Have you tried Memtest86? Run that and make sure the ram is working. And if you remember the ram dimm you used for the 1x8, try taking one stick out and putting one in the dimm, trying memtest86, then putting the next one in, etc... Sometimes Ryzen can be wonky with memory, so maybe try underclocking it to 2400 mhz (adjust the voltage as well) and see if that helps. Best of luck.
