I got a laptop that was donated to the church that they couldn't use, so they gave it to me. It's an Asus Republic of Gaming Model GL753VD-DS71
I tried to get access to the main account by stupidly downloading one of those programs that gets you access to a password protected windows computer on to my usb stick. I dropped that method of getting access to it. I managed to get access to the computer by using a copy of windows 10 home 64 bit disc I had from my main machine, and using the command line. I was able to create a new admin account and change the password of the main account and get in However, shortly after the main account got corrupted. I'm assuming it did from the program I downloaded on my usb stick that I used previously, or windows is mad at me from not logging in using the previous persons windows password. You can sign into the account, but it just shows a black screen and explorer.exe will not start up. All you can do is use task manager, and after a couple uses of that it will freeze up too.
I have pretty much given up on fixing the corrupted main admin account unless I can get more information on how to fix it here. Since I don't have Windows Professional I don't have as many options fixing it.
I want to do a fresh format and install of the machine, but i don't have a windows cd key for it, and i don't know the previous persons password for their microsoft account. Can i still do a clean install and have the machine grab the key off the motherboard, or do i have to buy a new copy of windows to use the machine properly now and windows be properly activated?
