  1. Hi,I currently have an MSI B450M Mortar Max Mobo. It has 3 4Pin PWM/DC mode system fan headers. I have an MSI RX 470 Armor OC which had problems with its fans not spinning. What I did is I bought a replacement set of fans but they did not work either when plugged into the gpu's fan header. So I got myself an intel cpu heatsink and harvested its 4 wires and connector so that I can wire them to my replacement fan and connect the fans to 1 of the system fan headers of the motherboard. I made sure that I connected and soldered the wires properly and checked 4 pin pwm fan diagrams. It worked on my previous motherboard which is an old 1150 board from ASUS but when I upgraded to my new pc the MSI's board bios does not detect the fans being plugged and does not report RPM. Although I can control the fans when I adjust the fan curve on the specific header the fans are plugged into. One thing to note though that the other fan of the gpu has only 3 wires in it which is connected to the other fan that has 4 Pin. In my understanding though, it should not affect the rpm reporting as the 3rd pin is supposedly the sense pin and the 4th is for pwm control?Any ideas as I ran out of any logical explanation as to why this is the case? Thanks.
  2. Hi,I just switched over to an amd setup from and intel one. I did not reinstall Windows as I do not have a lot of time to do reinstalling including every application I had. Everything works well except for the following.1. Open Hardware monitor does not detect the boards, system fans and temps.2, Speedfan does the same as well.Speed fan is very important to me because my GPU's PWM controller seems to be broken so I fashioned an adapter to instead connect my gpu fans to the system fan header of the motherboard and control the speed of the fan relative to the temperature of the GPU using speedfan. Now I can no longer do it because speedfan would not recognize any system sensors.Specs:Mobo: MSI B450M Mortar MaxProcessor: Ryzen 5 1600GPU: MSI RX 470 Armor OC 4gbRAM: 16gb HyperX DDR4 2400 MhzStorage: 120 GB Kingston SSD A4001 TB Seagate Barracuda HDDPSU: 700W FSP 80+ BronzeAny help would be appreciated. I already reinstalled speedfan and redownloaded HW Monitor but still the same. Thanks
  3. I did. I tried all settings in the tv. I also tried using different gpus with HDMI on my hdtv and they are the same. Only option is to use VGA Adapter with an active adapter. problem is my rx 470 doesn't support them. I have a gtx 750 from msi as well and its ports are vga, hdmi and Dual-link DVI-D. this is the same with my rx 470 but the dvi d adapter works on gtx 750 but not on rx 470.
  4. Hi. Thanks for the reply, If I use HDMI cable, the display is so ugly and over sharpened, colors are washed out. this is a problem with the TV itself EDID-related issue. So I have no choice but to use VGA Input.
  5. Hello.I have an RX 470 armor oc 4gb. It has 1 HDMI port, 1 DVI-D Dual link port, 2x display port. Problem is I have an HDTV at 1080p 60hz. When I use an HDMI cable, the output is too sharp and seems like the problem is with the tv so I am using VGA. I bought 2 ACTIVE adapters, 1 DVD-D DL to VGA and 1 HDMI to VGA however, none of them works. If I use HDMI cable there is output on Monitor. I plan to buy a DP Port to VGA Active adapter however, I am not sure if it will work as well.Any advise?
  6. Update. Got the card working. So I brought the card to a repair shop and they did check the card for any shorts or any problems. Even reflow. But to no avail until they gave up. Luckily their policy was no fix no pay. Me knowing that there is nothing wrong with the hardware, tried to do more research until I learned how to flash the bios. So I did reflash the bios and viola! the card worked. my next steps are to stress test the card out to make sure everything works as normal. closing this as solved.
  7. Thanks for the advise. I'll try to use HDMI. if nothing else works, then It'll probably make a good display..
  8. Hello everyone I desperately need some help with this problem that I have since yesterday. I have decided to replace my perfectly working GTS 450 so I purchased a used MSI GTX 750 Ti Twin Frozr 2GB OC card from a Marketplace posting that I have seen on Facebook. The seller mentioned that the card does not output a display and just a black screen (monitor is not so there is signal, this happens to me as well). I still decided to purchase the card which costed about $18.So when I got home I immediately checked the card and it's back as well as the PCI E connector pins have corroded but still can be cleaned. So I did. I could not clean the small stuff on the back of the card though. I slapped it onto my PC and tried to make it boot. Here are my PC specs. Mobo: MSI H61M-P31W8 (latest bios)CPU: Intel Core i3 2100RAM: 8 GB DDR3 @ 1333 MHzPSU: FSP Everest 700W 80Plus (new)Storage: 120GB SSD (OS) + 1 TB HDD (Files and stuff)Monitor is an AOC hybrid monitor/tv/cctv which has HDMI ports 2x and a VGA port 1x. I use VGA. Things I've already that night: Reset my bios (removing cmos bat method) Setting graphics to PEG Made sure the cables and the card are sitting properly on the slots. Re-seated the card multiple times. After not working I decided to let the night pass. This morning, I gave the card more loving by taking it apart and cleaning it applying new thermal paste. I tested it again and got some progress. If I wait a few seconds, the monitor would get a signal and even display a VGA 700x400 notice on the top right part of the monitor but the screen is just black then the GPU fans goes 100% by the noise they make. Pressing the restart button does nothing. Pressing power button shuts the pc off. I removed the card, used onboard gpu, shut down pc. I install the card boot with the onboard gpu. The card can be seen by device manager I even installed its drivers. Checking the properties though, it has an error Other things I have done: Reinstall drivers Use DDU to clean reinstall drivers Tried one ram at a time Disable intel HD Graphics No matter how I try if I use the GPU as display output just black screen appear. I know my PCI E slot works because I can use my GTS 450 in it. I haven't used an HDMI Cable yet or a DVI adapter and I am thinking that may be the problem. But if so, why won't my vga cable work?I hope someone can help me out.
  9. Thanks for responding. I already did that. I tried all ram positions and combos as well. I have 2 extra sticks that I know are fully working and the same thing happens. Right now I am using the celeron cpu just so I can use the pc.
  10. Hi everyone,So I just recently purchased a 2nd hand motherboard, cpu + ram bundle. However, as I try to use it I encounter problems. Part Details: Mobo: MSI H61M-P31W8CPU: i3 3220Ram: 8 GB Hyperx ddr3 2x4gb 1333Problems: When I first fire the computer up, it would powercycle then turn off. then would turn on the second try. When it turns on and does post, the board always resets saying that the previous overclocking failed even though I did not overclock. I press f1 to run setup and go to bios, reset to default, save changes and reboot. When it does reboot it resets again same message as 2. Sometimes the bios hangs up. When I get to windows and try to restart, 1-3 happens again. Windows usually hangs. At first I thought it was the board so I cleaned it and changed thermal paste to no avail. luckily I have a spare cpu Celeron G1620 which is collecting dust but is working. When I used this CPU, there are no issues. The board bios is updated to its latest version. Is the i3 cpu going bad? Thanks for any help. If you have further questions, I'll answer them if I can.
  11. Thanks for the input. Ram it is.
  12. Thanks for the inputs. Right I have decided to add more ram.. Thanks.
  13. I was wondering what to purchase first as I am on a tight budget right now. here are my pc specs. MOBO: ASUS H81M-KCPU: i3 4170GPU: Asus GTX 760 DC2OC 2 GB GDDR5RAM: Was 8 GB (2x4gb) but one went off to my father so now 4 GB Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz ddr3.PSU: True Rated 600WSSD: Kingston A400 120 GB(Windows with AC Origins installed)HDD: 1TB SeagateSo I am pretty much tight in budget right now and can only afford 1 upgrade so I am wondering if I would purchase another stick of 4GB ram ($27 here) or swap out my CPU with an i5 4460 ($36.84).I currently play AC Origins and get approx 28 - 45 fps with the current set up. sometimes 50.mixed medium, low and high settings at 1366x768 reso. What would be more beneficial? a stick new of ram or a CPU upgrade to i5 4460?next month I will be upgrading to GTX 960.Any inputs? Thanks!
  14. Yes, it does happen with every folder I tried to delete. Not when deleting batch of folders though. The OS is newly installed and yes I did many restarts. All I did was copy the files from my crashed drive to the new ssd. No tweak tools on my system. I appreciate you checking on this.
