  1. Could be the problem... I did think it was something to do with all the christmas lights up soaking up the juice or causing interference, but even at night when the house was dark, the problem still persisted.
  2. Unsure if I can see that exactly, as I'm using a powerline adaptor... How did you get to that window, as I can't remember off the top of my head. Also no, it is not only steam, it is anything that could use a download. It's strange because this does not happen on any other device, they still get much higher download and upload speeds, even over wifi.
  3. Sorry, I forgot to specify. Yes it's a wired connection
  4. Hey guys, bit of a problem here. I've tried everything I could think of to fix this problem, but to no avail. Do note, this same problem I will describe happened a few weeks ago, but somehow managed to fix itself a few days into the problem happening. Right so, to start with system specs, just in case this helps someone help me: Case: Fractal Design Define R6 Motherboard: Asus Prime Z370-a CPU: Intel Core i5 8600K CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken x62 GPU: EVGA RTX 2080 Super RAM: 16GB G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3200 HDD: 2TB Segate Barracuda SSD: 1TB WD Blue SSD: Intel Optane Memory 16GB M.2 SSD: Corsair MP300 256GB PSU: Corsair VS 650 I was using my PC one night, no problems at all, turned it off as usual when I was done for the night. The next day I start it up, and need a few updates to games on steam, but I notice now I'm only able to get no more than 1.5MB/s, sometimes as low as 900 bytes per second, compared to my usual 12MB/s or there abouts. I've tried to flush my dns, which only help slightly, and is how I was eventually able to get as high as 1.5MB/s. I even tried using the 1.1.1.1 dns. A windows reinstall didn't even seem to help. And yes, even smaller things like just turning off and on again, but nothing has worked thus far, and it hasn't managed to fix itself like last time within the same time frame. Any help would be much appreciated.
  5. So, my pc has been getting BSODs the past few weeks, more and more frequently as time went on. Eventually it happened so much that I tried to repair the windows installation (windows 10 pro) but it would also bluescreen during that. Eventually I got tired of trying this method, that I tried to just completely format the C drive from within the windows installation media and as far as I could tell, this worked, so I began installing it again onto the primary partition, and it seemed to go well, until it bluescreened again mid install. I then tried to install it onto one of my other SSDs, with nothing yet installed on that, and it bluescreened again. I'm not sure what to do at this point, short of buying a new drive to install windows to. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. There is a way in Nvidia control panel to set the refresh rate above that of its specification, but, that could also, from what I've read, destroy the monitor, and possibly damage the GPU...
  7. Thanks for the reply, but somehow, it seems to have fixed itself when I just turned off the PC and left in for an hour or two...
  8. I've rebooted the PC countless times at this stage, and it's not something taking up the download speed and nothing appears in the task manager's network usage, and also that I doubt it would be still downloading *something* for the last few hours that i've been trying to fix this issue.
  9. Well, checking the test on Ookla on my phone shows the speeds I expect, but doing the same test on my desktop shows that I get a ping near or at 200ms, and a DL speed of 1 Meg' and under. Also I have downloaded this game before at the high speeds I'm used to, I'm just reinstalling it today, and the speed is not near as good as it should be.
  10. I've done this already, and at the moment, nobody else is using devices, the bandwith is free.
  11. I am measuring the speeds by Ookla and the one provided by steam when downloading a game. Usually in steam (as I check that often enough, I can give good comparison) I get about 10~MB/s while downloading a game, but now it struggles to get over 600KB/s
  12. Hi, So I got back on my PC today after a few days away from it, and came back to find that my download speed has been significantly reduced. I thought it was the last windows update I got before I turned off my PC for the last time I was on it, so I uninstalled it but that didn't seem to fix it. It also only is on my PC that this is happening as every other device on the network is fine getting the maximum speed they can, but now I am downloading at less than a Meg' a second. I have been on to windows support and my ISP, but so far no solutions. Any help appreciated.
  13. I did use EZ flash to update my bios, and it is at the most current. And everything i've read suggests it is fully compatable, its just not working.
  14. Hi. The other say I got an Intel Optane 16Gb M.2 stick. I installed it onto my Asus Prime Z370-A Motherboard running an i5 8600k. I then got the software from Intel's website, but found I couldn't even run the installer. Because of this, I contacted Intel support, and after a Window's reinstall to change from BIOS to UEFI. After that, the installer now works, and it set itself up correctly. After the required restarts, I tried to enable Optane, but the program said it ran into a problem, and force closed. This then brought up a popup in the corner that says to click it for more details, which only re opens the program to cycle the same process again, showing no details of what happened. After browsing around the PC, I found that the Optane stick is not even being detected in BIOS, or in Disk Management or DiskPart. If anyone has had this problem, or knows a solution, I'd love to hear it. Extra something you might want to know: Windows 10 is installed on my SSD, a Samsung 850 EVO 250Gb, and I am trying to accelerate my HDD, a Segate Barracuda 2TB
