  2. I recently got around to installing a third monitor which is capable of displaying a 4k resolution. But as soon as I plugged it in, my windows 10 UI become somewhat laggy. For example when I switch desktops, the transition is not at all smooth. Pressing WIN + TAB isn't that smooth too. But besides these two examples, the rest of windows seems pretty smooth although it sometimes starts to lag. Please keep in mind that my other two monitors are Full HD monitors. Do you have any advice what I could do? My system: -GTX 1080 -Intel I5 8600k -16 gb of DDR4 RAM -Windows 10
  3. First of all, sorry if I seemed ignorant. Yesterday I just wasn't in the mood to try and adjust some settings - I mean the issue was fixed (it still is). But yeah, I think you could be right about that. While I had Firestorm installed, Firestorm could have applied its default OC values to my GPU. Maybe those were too high. And yes, the default specs of my Firestorm AMP Extreme vary from the default values of Nvidia-produced gtx 1080. This idea hadn't struck my mind before because I had Firestorm installed even before the freezing appeared; I built my PC last summer and the freezing occurred around Christmas. For reference: The processor frequency of a default gtx 1080 is 1733 MHz. The processor frequency of my zotac amp extreme is 1771, but in boost mode the frequency gets increased to 1911. I don't know what exactly the boost mode is; I just know that under heavy load the GPU's frequency gets increased to said boost value. Does the default gtx 1080 also have a boost mode? One more thing I would like to point out. I'm a little confused because in msi Afterburner the processor frequency still seems to be the same (see picture). What I could do now is increasing my processor's and memory's frequency in the hope of reproducing the stuttering. If I manage to consistently reproduce the stuttering the overclock my gpu, I think I can say that I found the cause of my problem.
  4. But, nontheless, the issue is fixed now. I don't know exactly how I fixed it, but it's all good now.
  5. Excuse me, if I'm being stupid. But I'm using a gtx 1080 Amp Extreme. As far as I'm aware, this card is not overclocked by default. Furthermore, I didn't underclock my GPU or anything in that direction. I merely deinstalled Firestorm and only kept MSI Afterburner. Do you think that MSI underclocked the card by itself? Maybe it was just that an issue that occured when two overclocking applications were installed at the same time.
  6. No it wasn't GPU overclock. The freezing occured even though my GPU wasn't overclocked. Additionally, my GPU isn't overclocked atm - and Chrome crashes. Honestly? I don't know what exactly per se *fixed* the freezing, but doing my steps helped me.
  7. I'm planning on mounting my speekers to the wall. But the cables that connect them to my subwoofer are too short. Thus, I would like to extend their cables. Does anyone have an idea what cable I need as an extension? See the pictures for more details. 1. Picture: The cable that connects the speeker to my subwoofer. 2. Picture: The socket, where the cable gets plugged into.
  8. Okay people, I have done multiple troubleshooting steps over the course of weeks. My issue is now resolved. To do so, I did the following: Reverting my BIOS to an older version. Resetting windows BUT keeping my files. Choosing XMP as an OC profile. I'm using a ASUS Prime Z370-A and there's two ways to select XMP. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE selecting the XMP profile from the EZ-Tuning menu causes this freezing issue. I did NOT install my antivirus and I did NOT install Geforce Experience. I think that having two applications to overclock my GPU, e.g. Firestorm and MSI Afterburner, caused this issue again. Thus, I deinstalled Firestorm and the issue went away. At this point the was actually fixed. Reinstalling my antivirus or Geforce Experience didn't cause the freezing to reappear. Although, I had some issues with Chrome. NOTE: I haven't yet tested whether having both applications installed caused the freezing to reappear. The only issue that was left was Chrome freezing. But this only occured with Geforce Experience or my Antivirus being installed. I'm still working on fixing this problem.
  9. I can try installing older drivers. I'll let you know how it goes. I've done this. I used the option to keep my files; issue is still present. Next thing I'll try is installing older GPU drivers.
  10. Yeah, reinstalling OS is my last go to option. It seems that using the XMP profile hasn't fixed the issue. What do you suggest I should do next?
  11. I don't have any OC software - I use the UEFI of my mainboard. But I've got a modular 650 Watt TX650M by Corsair. But yeah, I'll quickly set XMP. I did as you asked, but sadly I can't just instantly say that my system is stable because way I know to stability test for this issue is to just use my system for everyday stuff and see if the problem appears. But thanks, I'll let you know how it goes
  12. I mean, I set my OC values back to default. It should be stable at these temperatures. Or?
  13. My System: CPU: Intel i5 8600k GPU: GTX 1080 (AMP!Extreme by Zotac) Motherboard: Asus Prime Z370-A Ram: 16 GB DDR4 possible to run at 3000Mhz. It doesn’t at this speed because I need to overclock it in the BIOS and for the purpose of troubleshooting, I have reverting all my overlocking This issue started to appear around the same time I overclocked my CPU and updated by BIOS. So, naturally, I thought that this issue could be resolved by reverting to the default OC values (reverting my overlock). -GPU overclock back to default -CPU overclock back to default The issue still persisted. So I started to test whether my BIOS update could cause this issue. While overclocking I used Asus’ EZ-Flash utility to update my BIOS to the latest version (I know, I know you shouldn’t just update your BIOS). I then tried reverting to the BIOS version before this current one. This also hasn’t fixed my issue. Keep in mind that I still have plenty of other BIOS versions to test out. The next thing I tried was to update my drivers. -Intel drivers -->They were already up to date -Nvidia drivers -->Didn’t fix it -Chipset drivers -->Didn’t fix it -Realtek audio drivers -->Didn’t fix it °I can still update my VGA drivers Finally, I took apart my PC: I wanted to try and test whether the GPU maybe wasn’t connected properly. I took it out of my PC and built it in again; hasn’t fixed it. While I was at it, I reapplied some thermal paste; cleaned the old one off first, then put the new on the CPU.
