  1. Any of you guys been having a similar experience? Of course you can't tell what happened to my system without more info, but does it sounds like I might as well accept the PCI-E is dead? How robust are they? It didn't smell burned and there's nothing to see.
  2. Hey peeps, I recently had some issues with booting my computer so I installed a new motherboard and PSU. Before doing this my computer wouldn’t boot properly. I had to hold down the power button for like 30 seconds for it to boot. Suddenly my graphics card didn’t work either. After a while it wouldn’t boot at all. The MB and PSU are now replaced. I figured I’d give my GPU a try, even though it didn’t work with my old setup, in case the PCI-E socket was damaged on my old MB (I don’t have any other sockets on it which I could use for testing). The GFX was recognized and I managed to install drivers, something I wasn’t able to do on my old system after the GPU stopped working. I was surprised to see it working and moved it to another PCI-E slot (one working better with just 1 GFX installed). After having moved the GFX to the other socket I had to download GeForce Experience anew for some weird reason, but once that was installed it recognized my driver which I had installed after putting in the other PCI-E slot. I thought everything was fine, but then I couldn’t boot my computer, history repeating itself. The GPU is trashed now but I wonder if it has managed to take along with it my 2 PCI-E sockets on my new motherboard. When the GPU was connected to my old MB it suddenly wasn’t recognized by my computer (ie. dead PCI-E since it was recognizable on my new MB)? Thanks in advance
  3. Gotcha, thanks! I have read several places it's a good idea to do a clean install when installing a new motherboard due to potential software issues..
  4. Thanks I upgraded to Windows 10 for free from a 8.1 license key a couple of years back. I just found the old key (which differs from the Windows 10 license key I was given after upgrading). I have managed to register by using that instead. How do I mark a topic as solved? *rookie*
  5. Hiho, I installed a new motherboard yesterday, formatted the hard drive. Now Windows 10 tells me I don't have a valid license. I have tried using Troubleshooting. Here I select that I have recently upgraded the hardware, then get redirected to a page where I can select to reactivate Windows 10 by checking off "This is the unit I am using". When I try to reactivate it tells me it's not possible to reactivate on this unit and that I should try again later. How can I fix this? Thanks!
  6. Thanks a lot Figured out I had to switch to HDMI on the monitor, whoops.
  7. Hiho peeps, I just installed a Gigabyte Z87X-OC Force motherboard in my computer case and connected it via HDMI (which is my only option - I don't have a GFX installed). There's no screen though it's up and running. What should I do? Can't I connect via HDMI without MB drivers installed? Thanks!
  8. Thanks a lot, problem solved :-)
  9. Hi, Can somebody please help me identify (with documentation) the specs (CMF, fan speed, dB) for the following Corsair fan? Corsair Support seems to be bugging a lot at the moment. The model/identification number is 31-000403. I have bought 3 of these with the following stated specs: 35 dBA, 62.74 CMF and 2350 RPM. They seem not to be correct after having compared them with other stated specs of this model. Thanks in advance!
  10. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance
  11. Replaced my PSU. It was the problem after all. Too bad it took my GPU along with it... or so it seems. I haven’t been able to test it in a different PC. The fans are spinning and the lights are on, but I can’t find it in device manager. I suppose it’s most likely that my faulty PSU is the root of this rather than a broken PCI slot? Unfortunately, I don’t have other slots to test on my MB. The PSU was a Seasonic SS-750HT by the way. I don’t know if it has some anti-surge technology or whatever you call it.
  12. Thanks for the help. Didn’t notice I had to use a bracket in the heat of the moment, doh! Problem solved.
  13. I just replaced my PSU. I bought a Corsair RM750x 2018 model but it doesn't seem to fit with my NZXT 440 case. Is there any way to work around this problem? Thanks
  14. Tried the paper click trick, it didn't work. I got a Seasonic SS 750-HT PSU. I used a keychain to short the pins - shouldn't be a problem, right? Guess it's the PSU after all..
