  1. Hello everyone, Anyone that has this issue and is hiding in the shadows, there is a solution. If you have dragon centre, uninstall it (it can affect CPU clock speed/voltage). Install Intel XTU, apply the overclock that it has pulled from the bios. Reset computer, uninstall XTU, reset computer. PROBLEM SOLVED! Its some funky jamz going on around the new microcoder in windows 10 2004. All you need to do is tickle its .dll's and she wakes back up. Now ya choochin! Thanks to everyone who viewed or posted. Thanks to the silent majority, unable to post due to absolute obscenity of it all. All the best, from Australia, John.
  2. Shameless self bump - hoping that someone knows this issue and can provide a fix. Linus I need you. Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the reply, I don't have any software for overclocking. I do it all in the bios. I think the micro coder was updated with the 2004 windows patch. I feel this is a very unusual issue. The cpu is locked at 4.7 max frequency on every core no matter what the overclock settings are. Ive checked each individual power plan to ensure its not limiting the cpu. There is no change on any power plan. I wonder if anyone managed to stop window interfering with the cpu clock speeds. Thanks again.
  4. hahah all good man, i would be a nutcase to not appreciate people trying to help me :D. Thanks so much for the reply, I have tried the different power profiles and they dont seem to make a difference in the max core speed i can get. Thanks again, Cheers.
  5. Thanks for the reply! I just went through and updated to the most recent one. There dosen't seem to be a beta bios just yet. I went through and set it to Fixed frequency instead of dynamic and it seems have gone back down to 4.7 again in all monitoring software. The problem is still there. Any advice if somone has solved this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, John.
  6. Too add to my troubleshooting steps, I just went through and updated my BIOS on the MSI Carbon Pro z390 board. Re-set my overlcock, and go into windows and its still stuck at x47 multiplier. I changed the file back to .dll from .BAK, reset the computer, still stuck at 4.7ghz. I also noticed that when the computer boots up if I start any monitoring software quick enough I can actually see that the clock (5.0ghz) is actually working when windows starts, then within about 30 seconds it goes back down to 4.7ghz then stays there no matter what stress test or app I run. (edit. I have turned off EIST, advance turbo boost, and the TVB Ratio Clipping. Still only goes to 4.7ghz nothing more.)
  7. Hello, I am looking for a solution to my overclocking issue with a 9700k. I just updated to the windows 10 v2004 and it seems that it is taking control over my core speed and keeping it at 4.7ghz. I've gone back into bios and checked to see if the clock is still set, it is. I've also found an artical thats 2 years old in which it explains the troubleshooting steps in order to solve this issue https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/9g8lqi/windows_10_interfering_with_overclock/. So this has happened in another windows 10 update before. I followed the steps in the troubleshooting artical to the T and yet my core speed still wont go over 4.7ghz. I am absolutely stuck, I have no idea how to get my overclock to apply again. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, John.
  8. I just tried both HWinfo and Ryzen Master...... They both display the high temps of 95 degrees. So its seems it might combining two temps, one core and the infinity fabric.
  9. I have a Gigabyte x570 gaming x mobo, I think most people will experience this issue with these new chips. I'm keen to try the Ryzen Master program.
  10. I spoke with a tech today and they said that the infinity fabric has its own temp sensor. She said that it seems to be picking up the temp of both the core and infinity fabric and combining them in most programs. Its a genuine temp, but half it.
  11. I just updated the Bios in a last ditch effort to fix the issue, but it made no difference at all. I'm pretty sure the CPU is buggered out of the box. I'm going back to the shop tomorrow to get a replacement. See how we go. Thanks.
  12. Thanks for your reply, I ran the program while doing a couple of tests, it seems it only pulls an average, it doesn't display individual core temps. No worries though, I know which core was the issue.. I stopped the tests there because the temp looked like it would have kept rising. Still over 90 degrees. I removed the back plate and put some rubber washes to space the cooler out as it was bottoming out on the screw. This got me to bring it a little bit closer but the cooler still bottomed out and there was no change at all to temp. Thanks again.
