I've also been told to buy a 3600x, but i'd rather not spend a lot

So i have a I3 8350k , is it worth for me to upgrade to the Ryzen 2700x? i would need to buy a b450 MB though. I checked CPU userbenchmark and the results, is a 1% loss in effective speed. Gaming is 1% loss, desktop is 4% loss, but workstation is a 38% gain. While i'm gaming i'm typically on Discord + Youtube/watching some type of TV like Hulu & on skype. Does that mean i need to prioritize more cores aka Ryzen 2700x? Recently purchased the AW2518HF , purchased insignia Dp cable from BB since it was certified as a DP cable. problem i'm having is the hotplug issue, when i turn off my monitor, everything reassigns. [Example : Ihave skype opened on my secondary monitor, and web browser , i turn off my main monitor [aw2518hf] and it acts as it disconnected itself from the computer. Thus bringing my taskbar to the second monitor for a split second then going back to my main monitor while dragging Skype + web browser.] Making me having to either drag it back or just never turn off my monitor and let it power save. I tried everything suggested by people, installing recent drivers, turn off DDC/IC. Only thing i couldn't do was configure my TMM registry because , uh i'm missing my TMM registry..
