  1. Thank you all. I've taken away that digital apps can't break the headphones with EQ, however, if I boost my AMP to 100%, which is not necessary, my drivers could damage themselves. I see what you mean with the Bass evening out with the rest of the music - which I enjoy, but i also like some louder bass too. Something I can feel. Thanks for the help! I love learning about new topics. I feel I'm pretty well versed in PC hardware, but I like learning about audio now
  2. I meant I didn't think it was broken, because it sounded fine and was wondering if I should listen for anything specific to tell if it's broken.
  3. at normal volume it sounds fine. Any tips on what I should listen for?
  4. lol thanks. in that case ignore my questions about how to do it. still tho... how come so many people have guides on boosting bass like the first thing?
  5. Aight. I see what you're saying. Ok, lets try to imagine I'm not an audio professional and I just follow guides from the internet. Thanks for your help. Imma link some images. I think I understand what you were saying. The V is a no, the Decreasing one is a yes? And how about the eq I got from that huge headphone eq reddit thread?
  6. Yeah, I wasn't sure if i could break anything like that. Thanks. I always have Window to 100% just for ease of only my amp knob changing stuff. I'll check for hairs. By the way, do you really think bass eq's are that bad? It's just Peace Eq's default bass boost setting.
  7. I've had these DT 770's for about 2 months now after some incredible suggestions. I love em. They sound great, look great, and work well. But, I noticed that during some bass heavy songs - or when I bass boost with EQ - My (primarily) right driver rattled. It seems like it went away under regular use with a little blowing in the earcup. I tested the bass and my AMP with https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/ and https://www.audiocheck.net/soundtests_headphones.php. At normal (100% windows, 50% amp) levels I don't get an issue but as I increase the volume on my amp (closer to 100% windows, 75% to 100% on my amp) I hear crazy distortion and rattling. I assume that's normal and that my amp just can't power my 250 OHM's that high. It's the FX Audio DAC-X6. I have no issue with distortion at those levels since I'll never need it that high, but I want to know if this is normal and ok for my setup or if it's dangerous. If I continue to experience rattling, is there anything I can do besides RMAing them? Thanks a ton for any help or input I hope this can help other people with this issue.
  8. Idk if this is a dead topic yet, but I just saw this. I'm using an external DAC, so not internal. However, it seems like you don't have to "configure" your device as 7.1. I dropped the VAC because I wanted to see the difference and there is little to none. However, I will try wasapi. I used the Kernel Streaming because there was less latency. Edit: wasapi is installed by default and idk how it'd affect anything.
  9. So I'm using Equalizer APO for control, Peace EQ for simple EQ changes, HeSuvi for 7.1 sound, and a Virtual audio cable. To link HeSuvi and my VAC, I'm using Audio Repeater KS. Every minute or two, I'll hear a crackling sound. I've set Peace to prevent audio clipping, but that doesn't seem to work. Obviously, these are a lot of programs all altering the same audio, but there shouldn't be much room for error. We can rule out Equalizer APO and Peace since I've used those with no errors at all. I read on a forum that with my configuration (Which is recommended by the HeSuvi dev as a work around for his software) will cause some crackling, and that the commentor didn't know why. I'm wondering if anyone else does, since it didn't seem like he looked for an answer. The main area I think might be changeable is the Audio repeater, since it changes audio buffering, output, input, and more. Thanks for any help you can offer. There is little to no info on HeSuvi around the net, so any input is helpful.
  10. I never got help with this I don't think... I totally forget what I did to help it. I barely remember the situation in general. All I know is it doesn't happen anymore. Make sure everything is updated I guess ?
  11. Thx all. Fyi, I literally saw the option to set it higher than it is now. I saw 32 bits @ 96000k. I even had it set like that for a bit, but it changed randomly, or after I installed other audio drivers. So even if it is snake-oil or just for advertisement, I was curious why the option went away. No biggie. All good info, thank you.
  12. When I first plugged in my dac, I was able to set the audio to like 32bit, 96000Hz. Now, after installing some Realtek Drivers from my motherboard manufacturer's website, it only goes as far as 24bit. I'd kinda like the 32bit back, even though I probably couldn't hear a difference. But more so, I want to know why this happened. I'm very curious since I don't see how Realtek drivers could affect something they aren't driving. DAC: FX-audio X6
  13. for the short duration I used hesuvi, my sound was really muffled. It seems like a lot of people say it works well, though, so should I try again? maybe I had something wrong. Would it be worth a shot?
  14. This whole thread pretty much led to the conclusion that I could spend money for 7.1 audio, or download software and get muddy, muffled audio. I'll continue using Games' own audio settings and try to find an eq good for gaming that I can toggle to. For the record, I would not recommend HeSuvi after using it for a little bit. but I appreciate the help.
  15. So are you recommending software or hardware? I googled Creative audio but tons of irrelevant stuff came up. You got a link to something? I'm not really looking to buy anything.
  16. ill look into it. Don't worry about game sense. I literally just couldn't hear the footsteps.
  17. Tonight, I was playing CS:GO with some guys, and they were all making a callout for a guy right around a corner. I couldn't hear any of him and ended up dying. Apparently, his noise was super obvious, and them with their 7.1 blah blah blah headphones could hear him. He WAS right in front of me how I was looking at the corner, not left or right of me, so I assume it's because my headphones are stereo. I know CS:GO has a 3D audio setting, and my DAC (This) also has "Virtual Surround" in its enhancements tab. Which should I have enabled? Both? My DAC>CS:GO or CS:GO> my DAC? The CS:GO setting does say to disable other audio enhancements... But then my audio in other games wouldn't have virtual surround. I also have Equalizer APO turned on to a config I found on Reddit that someone made specifically for the 770's... Could this be a hindrance? I don't see how it could. I think I might just throw some money at "gaming" headphones and switch them out for games. I know that it's not real 7.1, and they're not BETTER, but it seems like they are for position. Thanks a lot. Btw, after breaking these in the past two weeks, extreme comfort and sound quality. Beautiful.
  18. I signed up because there was no reason not too. I can understand the appeal if you did have a mac or a laptop, and that would be why it's limited to 60 fps, I suppose. But what's more surprising is the quality the games were in. Besides fps or framerate, the quality was awful.
  19. After downloading the free beta and playing a few games for like an hour total, I can firmly tell you that I don't want to continue using it. Unless they make major changes. First, I have above or equal to the recommended specs to run it. I expected that it would trump my 1080ti for a little while, maybe let me play some games at ultra or something. But upon playing every game, I noticed a few things. Even if the game is running at 200 fps, you only actually play it at 60, which is shocking to my brain, eyes, and hands since I'm on my 144hz monitor. Second, even at 1080p, the game looks barely 720p quality. The bitrate is SO low. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but so far my actual pc feels lightyears better than their 10,000 dollar server, which isn't what I expected from the hype. It seems like every game gets scaled really really weirdly. Even Minecraft was uncomfortable. Tell me what you think about it, or if I should try different settings or something to make it look better. I have it set to custom, everything as high as possible. Maybe I'm trying to push too fast bitrate, but I don't care to mess with it unless someone says I should.
  20. I've decided on the C920 out of the lineup because it looks just as good for like ~20 dollars less than the others. Peep the linked video (should start at a high-movement part, Tyler uses the C920) but I noticed that even though the C920S seems like it's different than the C920, it's advertised on Amazon as the same cam just with the privacy thing. Is this the case? did they just add a privacy flipper thing? Btw, the S is a dollar more. That's the main reason for my question, if it comes with a privacy flip for a dollar, that would be simpler than a sticky note and cheaper than the ~10 dollar add-on. P.S. he cusses in the clip idk if I should make it a spoiler or something, you've been warned ?
  21. Update for people looking for info: Great fans... Very very quiet. I got the high-speed and I CAN hear them when they're loud, but they stay near-silent 85% of the time. Some noise when starting programs, apps, etc. but that's more because of my CPU cooler.
  22. Why do some people say that USB 2.0 peripherals (For example my Fifine K669 USB or the Logitech C920) should ONLY be put into 2.0 ports... This would be an issue for me because I don't have any USB 2.0 ports... But I've noticed my mic sounds good anyway. I would be surprised if I ran into an issue because USB ports are backward compatible, but some people swear there are issues. [Issues with mics are apparently just terrible quality and for webcams, video corruption.] It's really confusing to run into in reviews, etc. Any input? Maybe if someone searches for this question, this thread will help, since when I did, it only brought up articles about how USBs work.
  23. Marked as solved, because you gave the most info, but thx everyone. I'm confident in my purchase Have a great day
