  1. Thank you for the input, gives me a better idea of what I should research/ look into & the price I should expect.
  2. Thanks for replying! I am fine with new or used. I had no idea that the Sony A6000 shot in 1080p 60fps (I only recorded with it a little bit, but only in 720p 30 I had the wrong file type selected) I think I might take a look online with Craiglist & Facebook marketplace for some things, I know it could be sketchy. Camcorder: If I was looking to go the camcorder route, I found these that were brought up when I was searching around: (Sony AX53) https://www.sony.ca/en/electronics/handycam-camcorders/fdr-ax53 and there is also the step up (Sony AX100) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1022653-REG/sony_fdrax100_b_hdr_ax100_full_hd_handycam.html Other: Sony ZV1 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1565880-REG/sony_dczv1_b_zv_1_digital_camera.html I think I am leaning towards a DSLR & Mirrorless hybrid at this time, but honestly open to anything. I think the most important factors to me are video quality & framerate. I will mostly be using it in a still environment, at least for the time being, limited moving around but I guess a gimbal may work if I do moving shots etc.
  3. Hi, I am currently looking for video camera recommendations for several different things. Main uses: 1. Drum covers/ music covers (most likely a still location, or maybe minimal movement) 2. Traveling, nature, vlogging 3. Family gatherings & events 4. Live-streaming at home (Not sure if there is one that would be decent for all 4, but #1 & #2 would be important to me) Location: Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Budget: Around $1,500CAD (with gear) (not sure if I need to spend more or not) Possible Specs: 4K 60FPS or 30FPS Decent zoom Decent battery life I don't care about weight, brand, or size. I do own an assortment of XLR mics that could be used for alongside with the video camera if possible or I might need to invest in a lapel microphone or an appropriate attachment. I currently own a Sony A6000 (mirrorless camera) which I think does the job in the picture-taking department, now I am just looking for something that would cover the video portion. (I think it only shoots in 720P 30fps) If there is other information needed or there are any questions, let me know!
  4. Hiya, I was just wondering what is a "suitable" amount of back-light bleed for this particular monitor or if I should return it and try again. I purchased it from Amazon late June and can return it within 30 days of the purchase if needed. If you need more or better pictures just let me know, this one looks a bit greasy. It does not look as bad as the picture makes it, but still noticeable when the screen goes black, loading something, dark scene etc., mostly in the upper-right corner. Monitor: ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q The current levels for the monitor are: Brightness: 45 Contrast: 30
  5. I do own an iPod 4th generation 32GB as well and that things kicks butt. The battery life on that thing when you are just listening to music lasts so long! I think for me, transferring things or dealing with iTunes is annoying. I have a large amount of music on my phone, and iTunes will transfer my music over to the phone but some of the songs will either not get transferred properly or they end up being grayed out after the transfer is complete. Music if a big thing for me. Storage space, there is no expanding unless you pay for the cloud storage. (I knew that when I bought the phone) Battery life. I would like more battery (I could use a power bank), although it still holds up for about 3-ish days without charging it again depending on what I do. Though that might be typical for the phone. Those are probably the top things that are driving me away from the phone, especially the music and storage. Maybe IOS limitations was not the best phrase to use, I should have just listed the things that I found annoying.
  6. Hiya! I am currently looking for suggestions on upgrading from the iPhone SE 64GB. I am tired of the limited storage and limitations from the OS in general. Location - British Columbia, Canada. Price Range - $700-$1200CAD GSMArena for reference: https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_se-7969.php Preferences: OS - Android Internal Storage - 64GB+ Micro SD Card slot - Supports 256GB Camera - Primary 14MP+ & Secondary does not matter Battery - Something that lasts a good while Brand - Does not matter to me Screen Size - Does not matter to me The only games I play on the phone are rhythm tapping games. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for a phone, I am all ears!
  7. UPDATE: Ended up ordering an ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q Ordered from Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529526666&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+rog+swift&dpID=41NvEug7zyL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch I will see if the gamble is worth it! Thank you for the information from everyone. ORIGINAL: I think I have enough information now to go with a 27"! I am just wondering what you guys would prefer: ASUS ROG PG278QR (TN) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236797 ASUS ROG PG279Q (IPS) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16824236660 I have only used TN panels before and have not seen the look of an IPS, at least in my household so I am not sure what I am missing out on. I have heard of backlight bleed and smearing on an IPS but I am not sure what that looks like compared to the monitor I have currently. I would probably be browsing the internet and gaming 85% of the time, and the other 15% I would be doing some form of audio, photo, video editing etc. I know that the panels have different response & input times and a TN based panel is usually faster than an IPS, but I still don't know what would be a close-to-perfect monitor for myself.
  8. I'm guessing I am future proofing myself going 1440P rather than sticking with 1080P which is a very good thing in my eyes. I can always upgrade GPU down the road, SLI, lower graphic settings etc. if needed. I have to be honest, I thought 1440P was some weird resolution that did not scale well which is why I was never looking into it. (Silly me) I think I have narrowed it down to ASUS, 144Hz, 1440P, the thing I do not know is if I want to go for a 24" or 27", I am leaning towards 27". Is there anything to know about playing in 1080P on a 1440P monitor? Does this change live streaming games in anyway? (Myself streaming from Open Broadcast Software to Twitch for example) Side question, is there a reason TV's went from 1080P straight to 4K dodging 1440P? Appreciate the replies so far!
  9. I am not sure, do you recommend 1440P? I have never had a 1440P monitor, is there anything in particular I would need to know before looking into one? Do some games not support it and/ or does it have a different look? I usually play a wide variety of games, DoTA 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Terraria, Stardew Valley, Path of Exile, Warframe, World of Warships etc.
  10. Hiya! I am looking to purchase a monitor with at least 144Hz Refresh rate and a 1-6ms response time (It will be my main monitor). I would probably be browsing the internet and gaming 85% of the time, and the other 15% I would be doing some form of audio, photo, video editing etc. A few examples of games: DoTA 2, Terraria, Stardew Valley, Rocket League, Path of Exile, Warframe etc. (Currently using a GTX 1070 Graphics Card) Preferences in the monitor: Refresh Rate - 144Hz (or higher) Size - 27" Resolution - 1440P G-Sync - Yes Reponse time - 1-6ms Condition - New Panel type - TN or IPS Ports - Does not matter Brand - Does not matter Curved - Does not matter ORIGINAL: Preferences in the monitor: Refresh Rate - 144Hz (or higher) Size - 24-27" Resolution - 1080P G-Sync - Yes Reponse time - 1-3ms Condition - New Ports - Does not matter Panel type - Does not matter Brand - Does not matter Curved - Does not matter (edit on June 12th, 2018: update information) Location - Canada Budget - $500-$900 (possibly more if needed) My current monitors consist of: #1 Main: BenQ 24" GL2460HM (1920x1080) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014377 #2 Side: Acer 20" X203Hbd (1600x900) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009158 (American website) This is what my set-up currently looks like: I am open to all ideas and suggestions, any help is appreciated because I have no experience in searching for a 144Hz monitor or what to look for entirely. Maybe a bigger resolution monitor is recommend or a bigger size for example.
  11. I think I am going to stick with Intel only because that is I have used in the past. I have never used AMD before. I think so too. I think that it is the processor that will keep me going for a good while! I looked at both and prefer to stick with the Intel route. I looked deeper and saw that Coffee-Lake (i7-8700K for example) processors would not work on the X299. I have realized I might not need to spend as much on a processor. It looked like the only major difference between the Coffee-Lake processors (compatible with z370 board) and the Sky-Lake processors (compatible with X299 board) was workstation performance which I do not need as much, maybe not to the extreme that I thought I needed. I was thinking of a build that consisted of something like this: Processor - Intel i7-8700K (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117827&ignorebbr=1) Motherboard - Z370 Motherboard (not sure which one) (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=z370&ignorear=0&N=-1&isNodeId=1) RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233871&ignorebbr=1) Possibly upgrade power supply? I don't believe I have had many if at all, any issues with the current power supply I have. Sorry it took me a little while to reply!
  12. EDIT: June 7th, 2018 I believe I have completed the upgrade, it consists of this: Pricing in CAD (Canadian Dollars) RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) ($489.99) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233871 Processor - Intel i7-8700K ($439.99) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117827 Motherboard - Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 ($283.99) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145036 CPU Fan Cooler - Noctua NH-D15 (I have enough room in my tower) ($99.95) https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAB984BD8348 Total price on Newegg was around $1300-$1400 CAD Thank you for all the information and thoughts on upgrading, helped quite a lot more than I thought it would have. Appreciate it! I am not sure of the differences between the two to be honest. I lost track of some of the advances relating to PC's (At least in terms of what you gain/ lose going from one or the other)
  13. The PC is the main thing overall for me. I use it for, video editing, gaming, audio editing. Different programs like Cubase, Adobe Premiere etc. will be used.
  14. My current budget I would say is about $1500 for both, although I would like a processor and/ or motherboard that will work for a good while down the road.
  15. ORIGINAL TOPIC: Hiya, I am looking to upgrade from my current processor and motherboard. Current processor: Intel Core i5 2500 Quad Core Processor LGA1155 3.3GHZ Sandy Bridge 6MB Current Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Z68 LGA1155 ATX 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 2 PCI B3 Motherboard (Current graphics card is GeForce GTX 1070) This PC was built back in 2011 (aside from the graphics card which I picked up in 2016) I use the PC for gaming, video editing, audio editing, everything overall. I live in British Columbia, Canada. My full PC specs are listed on my profile page I believe. Budget: 1500$ for both I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to go for, I am not too familiar with the current processors, motherboards, and such.
