Hey Guys,
my new PC build is slowly taking on forms. I will get my 5900X next week I think until then I´m not fully set on the Motherboard, aswell not entirly
on the RAM.
At the moment I definetly have the
- 5900X in (duh)
- aswell an BeQuiet 750W Straight Power Platinum PSU
- BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4
- and an Samsung 970 Evo 1tb M.2 SSD
I've looked at a couple of Mobo's and at the moment I´m more interested in the Aorus Elite B550. Problem here is, that I haven't found anything about M.2 behaviours.
Means that I have seen some issue that came up that if you plug in 2 M.2. SSDs (which will be the case in my build aswell - bringing a second 256gb Samsung M.2. over from my old build),
that some SATA Ports will be disabled, does someone know if thats the case with the Aorus Elite B550 aswell by any chance?
I´m planning on keeping my old CD Drive (drop the old what are those meme here lol), aswell my old HDD for Data grave things. Aswell one 500gb SSD - I suppose I could drop my old
120gb SSD with two games on it. But that would "free-up" only one SATA port. Would still need atleast 3 working SATA ports, so I can't afford of disabling 2 out of the 4 on the Aorus.
In terms of RAM I've made up my mind about 32gb <-> 16gb and I´m going for 16gb, because there is really nothing that would justify 32gb.
The problem I´m facing now is, that I´m insecure about the performance in the long run in case I do wanna go up to 32gb in the future. I wanna keep
the possibilty open though. Are there any downsides of going for 2x8gb Kit (Crucial Ballistix 3600-CL16) and later MAYBE upgrading it to 32gb?
And if the Aorus Elite accepts the 3600MHz RAM, because according to the manual it just goes up to 3200. But on the Mobo website it lists 3600 (O.C.) as supported,
even goes up until 4400 (O.C) I think.
Would love to hear your opinions and inputs about this.
