  1. After finally updating BFV today, I immediately set out to test it out- only to find I couldn't even launch the game as my CPU performance immediately jumps to 100% before closing the window. I've tried to restart my PC and have tried other games- AC Odyssey & Unity, and experience no issues. Any solutions/ideas as to the origin of the problem would be greatly appreciated. Specs are: i5 8400 2070S 16gb 2666 HDD ()
  2. Hey, so there was this great deal going on at some store around where I live and I ended up with a 2070S and 16gbs of DDR4 RAM for an extra 20 euro. Now the problem is that my PC isn't exactly at the same level. I'm rocking an i5 8400, 16gbs of DDR4 (total now 32) and a 40 $ 1TB HDD. I'm now wondering just how bad my older and cheaper CPU and HDD will affect my gaming ; I've heard that no matter how good of a GPU, the CPU and your HDD is still important and may still slow down your PC and cause FPS drops.
  3. France. As said above, would rather go for a thinner type of laptop. I don't mind the battery life- as I'm using it as a desktop it's going to be plugged in most of the time. It just needs to be sufficient for the occasional movie or assignment while travelling.
  4. I've been trying to find a laptop under 1500 euro in order to use both at home and at school, and in order to replace my current "gaming" desktop. The laptop needs to be powerful enough to run recent games at high FPS and with high settings and should be future proof. I would like to be able to connect it to my monitor and be able to use as my main computer. I will mainly do some gaming and light work, nothing too serious. I've been eyeing the following laptops and would like some advice and other recommendations if possible. An ASUS Zephyrus with a 7th gen i7 and 1080 Max Q GPU, 16gb of RAM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071XDXLPG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1X019B82D4KP7&psc=1 An ASUS Zephyrus with an 8th gen i7 and a 1070 Max Q GPU, 16gb of RAM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G5Z9H8R/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 A Lenovo Legion with a 9th gen i7, a 1660 ti GPU and 16gb of RAM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QDKML8D/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 A Sager gaming laptop with a 9th gen i7, a 2060 GPU and 16gb of RAM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S2GYS12/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A2NIBB411IB6WW&psc=1 I do not mind a lot of noise or a lot of heat as I plan on buying one of those "laptop fans"- if they really work. I would however prefer a thin laptop, and not one of those enormous, bulky and flashy red gaming laptops, but if it's the only thing that can suit, I can do with.
  5. Hey, I'm from France however will be buying from any US or international English reseller since I need that US QWERTY keyboard. Budget is around 1.5k however wiling to go a bit over if it's really worth it. The models I'm eyeing are the following: Link to the 1080 laptop (1500 USD) : https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-Full-HD-Ultra-portable-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B071XDXLPG?th=1 Link to the 1070 laptop (1400 USD): https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Zephyrus-i7-8750H-GeForce-Military-Grade/dp/B07G5Z9H8R/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?th=1
  6. I'm talking about the ASUS Zephyrus GX 501 for the 1080 MQ. It's a slim laptop however I haven't seen many cooling complaints, and I plan to buy some laptop fan/stand if those work anyways. It's as I said, mostly for gaming and some light homework. Do you think a 1660Ti or 2060 would be more worth it for the price? I've found the GX 501 for around 1500 USD, looks like a great deal for me. 7. Hello, I am a student looking to buy a new and cheap gaming laptop and have my eyes set on 2 specific models, both with just about the same price. However, one has an i7 8750H CPU with a max Q 1070 GPU, whereas the other sports an i7 7700HQ CPU with a max Q 1080 GPU. I will mainly be using my laptop for gaming and for some light student-related work. I am tempted to go for the 1080 however I am scared that the CPU will quickly become completely outdated in a few years, and as I also plan to replace my desktop with this laptop (just hooking it up with my monitor and keyboard really), I am afraid that the 1070 will not suffice for my needs. Both have 16 gb of DDR4 ram and a 512gb SSD (plan to use an exertnal hard drive though).
