  1. Good. With an x3d CPU, CL isn't as big a part so 30 or 36 is just fine
  2. Cool. The builds are more than fine and even if an SSD isn';t as good as another, they won't notice any difference in any way. The case is subjective and as long as it has a fan intake and a fan exhaust, it'll handle the mid-budget build fine. Not everything has to be min/max, if they enjoy their machine.... that's awesome.
  3. Someone needs to train you on being under budget one day I second this build tho. Cut back to 16GB RAM if 800 is a hard ceiling.
  4. Also, check your flight/airline to see if you can plug in the phone/laptop etc on the place. Some do.
  5. Good. Thought I would have routed the GPU power connector over the backplate to minimize it. What exact RAM and motherboard?
  6. How are you making your calculations about "spare room" with your current system? Never use TDP as a power measure. I'd get a 13600KF and a quality 750w PSU.
  7. While that one is expired, they have the PowerColor Hellhound for $850 after code...
  8. Same. I use motherboard for limits and -30 in CO. I've tried -20 and -25 with no difference in performance but slight gains in voltage and temp.
  9. As an aside, do a tax calculator. Getting a refund isn't proper money management. 7800xt is more than enough. You can spend yourself into the grave by choosing that little bit more for a bit more.
  10. Yuor budget determines a lot of this. Like what GPU to get? How much money do you have? 70 for a 3950x is excellent. Why do you have a friend if you think he might be scamming you? use a different word, like some asshole I know, or something. Tho you need to ask yourself if you truly need a 3950x for gaming 1080p, even for a good price. It's not a gaming CPU, but for the price it'll do.
  11. No, you need how much power you actually USE/NEED, and your 750w PSU doesn't power your monitor which the UPS does need to. The PSU itself means nothing at all. So please give us the specs of your entire machine, including monitor, and we can help.
  12. Fractal Define R6, has 10 bays for HDD and 2 for SSD. There are others but I am heavily biased towards Fractal.
  13. So that 24 pin doesn't fit into the motherboard? Or they fit but don't work?
  14. This. I "think" Steam and other game libraries will log into the proper account based on the user Windows is logged in under. So you won't have to keep swapping Steam accounts.
  15. Well sorta. He was probably correct if you were correct in your original post. You were NOT at idle, so the solution was different than we were led to work on. Glad you figured it out.
  16. Good point. Many people assume idle is THEM not using the machine, whereas Windows (or any OS) can be doing quite a lot even with the user downstairs eating dinner.
  17. Why is that intriguing? What are YOUR thoughts on it? I find it incredibly non-interesting. So 1 game has less input on Linux? Why should that be anything other than "cool, I guess"? Linux has benefits, Windows has benefits. *shrug*
  18. 1. No 2. No 3. Yes You won't notice a difference at all, as they will both perform in Gen 3 mode far far far above anything you'll need from them. Gen 4 boot vs Gen 3 boot - no difference Gen 4 gaming vs Gen 3 gaming - no difference No combination of Gen 4, Gen 3, Boot, Gaming will produce any real world noticeable difference.
  19. Ican't see the seller's site at work, it's blocked. Sorry if their pcpartpicker info is fraudulent. Look at the 7900XT then. Or the 4070 Ti Super. Any model, they only have looks and cooling differences, so pick the one you like the look of best.
  20. Edit: Seller has different price on website vs pcpartpicker
  21. Make sure to PBO/CO, to get a little more from that 7700X.
  22. So you're having issues finding the PERFECT fan, is that right? Chasing waterfalls... What's wrong with the ones you have? Can you point out what they are failing at or you don't like? Or is this all an OCD issue where you struggle to settle or make a decision? I ask because all these fans are simply... just fans. They all work with minor variations. If you';re squabbling over the smallest of details... you're going to just get more "someone said" stuff here. Someone will like Corsair, someone won't, someone will recommend Lian Li, someone will say they suck cuz their dog had them in their super computer, etc etc etc. Hopefully you can come to terms with the fact your current fans are just fine and enjoy them. Or ignore all the chaos and buy what YOU like.
  23. How are you unsure about them if you HAVE THEM? Can't you make the decision for yourself by looking, listening, measuring temps, etc? I can understand issues when trying to choose a fan. What about Lian Li Uni Fans?
