This is a brand new computer I built a few days ago so this is the first install of anything, for what I am aware the HDD should be blank (I am doing this from a usb if that makes a difference)

Hi everyone, I just built my first PC and am using the Kraken x61 cooler. The fans are not however plugged into the motherboard but rather the cooler itself and are powered by the same cord I have plugged into my HDD. Despite the fans still spinning when I first boot up the computer it says CPU Fan Error. Is this normal for water coolers or is this something I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance

I know which way they plug in up r down but does it matter which end goes to the PSU and which goes into the other component?

Hi, I am currently installing my Bitfenix Fury PSU and can't figure out the direction of my cables. From what I can see the six sided pins fit in the square ones so it isn't obvious to me which end goes in the PSU and which goes into the motherboard or graphics card. Thanks

Hi everyone. I have been looking at RAM and was wondering whether or not 8gb is enough to not bottleneck a 4690k and 970 in all games (both AAA and indie, etc)? Currently I cannot find a supplier that sells single 8gb modules of the memory I am after so my only option is 2x4gb or upgrading to 2x8gb. What do you guys think?

I am after 650w (that is enough for 970 SLI I have heard), in terms of silence are they still comparable?

HI everyone. I am trying to build a black green PC and you would think it's be easier. Anyway at the moment I am looking at the CS, CX and RM series of Corsair PSUs. I have also heard that Seasonic also make very good ones (and manufacture them for many companies). SO what are your thoughts on those Corsair ones, is the RM series worth going to for $20 more and just creating a new sticker? Which Seasonic psu would you recommend both as a plain black/silver aesthetic and in terms of performance and silence. Thanks in advance

So does that mean i can run the 4690k on a z87 motherboard?

During the good part of this year I lost my interest for PC building and as such missed the release of z97 and the 4970k etc. My question is, what is the difference between z97 and the older z87? Thanks in advance

I am thinking of doing my build in an mATX enclosure. My question is which style cooler is better for my enclosure? The case is the Phanteks Evolv so it has good airflow options at the front, back, top and bottom but will that be sufficient? Also, which style is better for SLI? I am looking at the 970 fyi. Thanks in advance P.S. If you have a better case suggestion please tell me, I am already looking at the Bitfenix Phenom and the cases from Fractal.

What exactly are these exclusive new features, I know there is DSR and anosynchronous warp (I think that is its name) for VR. but are these exclusives, also what are the other features? Do you think 650w would be sufficient for two 970 cards?

So I am about to build my first PC and am wondering which graphics card I should get. From all the benchmarks I have seen the 970 and 780ti seem to be neck and neck. As for the cost, where I live they are both $530 (Australian prices I know...). I am planning at running games at 1440p because I play games other than just demanding AAA titles, but in the future I plan on upgrading to an SLI configuration. I guess my question then is, which card is better in raw performance at 1440p alone and which one performs better as a card in SLI? I know there are other factors, but I mean on average. Also, if there are any other benefits of the 970 over the 780ti or vice versa I would love to know. Thanks, the help will be appreciated greatly.
