  1. I have an old PC that i use to run a hacintosh server for bluebubbles (imessage on android) .I want to keep using this pc for this server so there's no avoiding using macos How do i create a file server on it which is remotely accessible ie. accessible outside of my network can someone give me detailed steps or link any article or forum that does because i have only been able to create a server that's accessible in my network Thanks!
  2. I have the oneplus buds z I have been using them since the past 8 months on my phone without problems At the time i paired them with my laptop they gave the same audio issue mentioned below however after repairing them like 3-4 times they worked fine come 8 months later, the audio issue described below starts happening again It goes like this ___ I pair them and get them in my ear - the successfully connected sound effect plays - i play music/video - plays well for some short amount of time - then the right earbud stops playing - then 2 seconds later left earbud stops too - then 3 seconds later both come back - same sound problem happens every 2-3 minutes This is really f****ng annoying I read on reddit that disabling the Headset part (ie. mic + low quality sound mode) just after you freshly paired them and windows is initialising them and simply not using the mic is a solution, didn't work There is no support for this on oneplus thread, i found 1 but it lead to a dead end
  3. yes, its a fiber modem (ONT) + Wireless AP thing
  4. So i got my isp's router with a 100 mbps fiber plan its fine for my usecase However for some reason it gives much slower local transfer as well as internet speeds on wifi on windows devices while giving the full internet and transfer speeds on linux This isn't a windows issue since i easily get the full speeds on other routers i also get the full speed on android, android tv and ios i am using 5 ghz if anyone's wondering these are the 5 ghz basic and advanced settings on my router
  5. sadly none of that worked WMM was already on and there is no option for no acknoledgement There is no ECO mode on this router already tried lowering rts didnt work i live in a suburb-ish area and used wifi analyzer, found out there is only 1, 5 ghz signal near my house 5 ghz frequency is already 80 mhz
  6. i got a 100 mbps fiber connection recently It works flawlessly on every device except my 2 laptops while using windows with the same Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174A wifi card. I have a pop os(ubuntu distro) dual boot on one of those laptops and on pop os i easily get 110-120 mbps up and down while downloading something / using speedtest However on windows on both laptops i am only able to get around 25 Mbps or so. I have tried 1) Reseting everything network related on both laptops (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/internet-download-speed-is-slow-on-only-one-device/65528449-efc9-4582-8d70-4220b43e0a6c) 2) Changing the wireless mode on both laptops (https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/550011) 3) Perform a clean boot on both laptops (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows) 4) Uninstalling, disbaling, enabling updating the wifi card drivers on both laptops However nothing has worked NOTE:- 1) I am using 5 GHz on both laptops and on ubuntu and windows 2) Both the laptop and router support AC Wifi so have a lot of extra bandwidth to work with ALSO: The local file transfer speeds are abysmal like i am getting 16-17 mbps on doing that while using my phone's hotspot as lan easily gives 200 mbps After assessing the situation 1) the problem cant be with windows since in my friend's house i easily get 100 mbps on wifi also the hotspot lan thing works well 2) the problem cant be with my router since i get proper speeds on linux. where is the problem then

  8. Ik i am in a weird position bcoz most people face internet problems on linux and no there is no background activity sucking up my resources task manager shows only chrome eating the bandwidth when i am downloading something from it

  10. could you plz elabrate on what this client does?
  11. thing is on my phone placed at the same place as my laptop, i am easily getting 100-120 mbps on speedtest AND while downloading something it has to be something with my laptop bcoz its not like the wifi card is from 2010 , i have gotten higher speeds in other people's home i think the problem is some kind of setting with the router
  12. I got a 100 Mbps fiber connection 2 days ago. It came with a proprietary modem+router thing (does have a control panel i can access using 192.168.10.1) It works flawlessly on all devices however i have a speed issue on my laptop On every other device in my home (phones smart tv's etc) the speed on both download and upload is 120 mbps (tested on speedtest.net, fast.com and google speed test and by downloading stuff off google drive) However on my 2 laptops with the same Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wifi card the speed is a maximum of 40 mbps it feels like it being artificially capped or something bcoz it never goes above that. I have tried- 1) Reseting everything network related on both laptops (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/internet-download-speed-is-slow-on-only-one-device/65528449-efc9-4582-8d70-4220b43e0a6c) 2) Changing the wireless mode on both laptops (https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/550011) 3) Perform a clean boot on one laptop (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows) 4) Turning off WMM and Qos setting on my router, which btw resulted in laptop speeds remaining the same and the phones basically unable to do anything on the internet.(https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-1xx-3xx-5xx-7xx/SOLVED-IdeaPad-510s-Qualcomm-QCA9377-slow-wireless-download/td-p/3629594) I am using 5Ghz and my laptop and router both support AC Wifi (WIfi 5) whose theoretical maximum is something like 700 mbps However nothing seems to work at all and i am still getting 40 mbps on any speedtesting site or even while downloading something Heck my local file transfer between laptops using shared folders is literally 16-17 mbps (very very slow) and the weird thing is when i use my phone's hotspot as a wifi network to transfer files locally i get speeds of 200 mbps or so regularly. I have spent 2 nights troubleshooting this crap with no avail. I Ned HeLp
  13. nope its Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A also i checked my router it had pppoe enabled however the pppoe username was of my Indian ISP, BSNL
  14. thing is that when i use my phone(oneplus 7)'s hotspot as a wifi network , connect 2 laptops and use this hotspot network to transfer files locally , the speeds i get fluctuate bwtween 175 -250 but never this low also this wifi adaptor is rated for much higher speeds, although i know that those speeds are just theoretical, 40 mbps is just too low compared to this adaptor's capabilities. i have a gaming laptop(acer predator helios 300)
  15. as you can see the network is private and this is the speed s and this is the speed on mobile with the same speedtest server
  16. what about the normal internet downloads and speed tests
  17. like wow i dont know what kind of secret sauce my phone has lol
  18. i used a ethernet cable i get 120 mbps its a WLAN problem

  20. wth never had this many replies on any post . LOL . Thanks Everyone I will try cloning as my manufacturer (acer ) includes some good software with the system i wouldn't wanna lose it though I know that that data can be recovered but i am kinda lazy
  21. OK. So I have an acer predator helios 300 with a 2.5 inch hard drive bay with the drive in it and a m.2 ssd slot with a 128 gb sata ssd provided by acer in it. I was thinking of buying a new 500 gb ssd and keeping my hard drive. So i would have to buy a m.2 in that case. So i was wondering how do i move my data from the older ssd to the newer one since my laptop doesn't have 2 m.2 slots and i would have to buy an m.2 drive. Should i first clone my 128 gb ssd to my hard drive then clone that to my newer ssd after installing that one? Or if someone has a better solution?
  22. Ok so yesterday i was just looking over my old shelves and found a golden piece of PC hardware A SEAGATE 160 GB 7200 RPM HARD DRIVE(LOL) . Anyway i plugged it into my pc AND IT STILL WORKS however it was so frrikkin slow even opening it from this pc took like an eternity compared to the other 1 tb hdd i have in my system which is also 7200 RPM . I looked over my dad's old files and some of my old photos and tried to transfer it and man have i done worse things in life IT WAS SO SLOW. So i was wondering how my newer hdd is so much faster compared to that one since unlike ssd's hard drive performance isn't dictated my its capacity and both my hard drives are 7200 RPM . So how have hard drives gotten faster??
