I have the xps 2-in1 here in germany with 23GB RAM but it's just too expensive... The spectre(HP Spectre x360 13-aw0030ng) was already my limit and this is far beyond. (I got the Spectre for around 1,5k)

I had to send it back. I am quite sure that the ram never went over 50% usage. If I didn't have it in energy-saver-mode the cooling fan ramped up immediately, thus why my guess is on the cpu.

It had 16GB, I figured that would've been enough. I will look at the XPS 2-1, thanks. So your suggestion is, more RAM, the CPU isn't the issue?

Hello everyone. There are so many of these threads, I hope this hasn't been asked before. I wanted to replace my iPad + Mac - Combo with a 2 in 1 device. I bought the HP Spectre x360 (HP Spectre x360 13-aw0030ng; i7, 1TB SSD) and was sadly disappointed. I am not planning on gaming, but I do some heavy multitasking (20-40 Chrome tabs, multiple ssh connections at once, multiple desktops, word and PDF, etc. most of the time all open at once). The i7-1065G7 in the Spectre x360, seemed to not be enough for my multitasking needs. Or my spectre was faulty I don't know. I had to send it back due to super bad palm rejection and that the screen flickered randomly. I currently have no laptop but I need one asap. (latest i can wait is first week of july) What I need: Good palm rejection so I can write with the pen like on the iPad I used to have Good Multitasking Light 13-"14" Maximum battery-life possible The only competing 2 in 1 that seems to work really well with a pen is the Surface Book 3, but it also has the i7-1065g7 and it is super expensive... Do you have any advice? I would love a 2 in 1 with the Ryzen 7 4800HS (or similar), but there seems to not be any....

Pop OS installation blocking
flololan replied to flololan's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Update: just found that when the installer hangs there is a "fsck.fat" process at 100% CPU so I'm gonna leave it for the night and give an update tomorrow.- 14 replies

I wanted to follow the guide: https://pop.system76.com/docs/dual-booting-windows/ But I just tried shrinking the partition manually with gparted before starting the installer, same result- 14 replies

Pop OS installation blocking
flololan replied to flololan's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Thanks so far! So I looked a bit further with my roommate and we were able to see in the logs that the last thing the installer does is recognize my windows partition. We then launched the installer from terminal without access to the drives and we were able to get past the step where it hanged before. But still not able to install it. Soooo any ideas? My (a bit over the top-)method would be to just get another harddrive just for pop os but I would prefer a double boot on the same drive as I already have too many harddrives in my system.- 14 replies

Hardware is also in my profile: CPU i7 6700k Motherboard MSI B150A RAM 16GB DDR4 GPU GTX 1070 I thought installing Pop OS directly was better regarding the Nvidia support? I only tried pop os. I will add a screenshot asap Edit here the shot: The installation starts like any other and after confirming the selection, nothing moves. It stays like this and I cant go back or anything. I just can log out and back in to start the installer again but it doesn't fix it- 14 replies

Hi guys, so I wanted to give POP OS a try after seeing it in the videos. But I get neither the LTS nor the 19.04 version to install. After selecting the region, the installer stops after selecting the keyboard layout. I tried selecting other layouts but it didn't work. Do you have an Idea ? Cheers

Hi guys, Hope I am at the right place for this. I bought for my studies a MacBook Pro Retina (Late 2013) It had the stonegate (anti-glare of the screen peeling of). I saw on the net that you could clean it off without any big problems. Well since then my screen has like a green filter. But not all the time. I found this but didn't help me: So the question is. Do you know any product that could work to get the screen back to normal? Cause the screen itself works perfectly fine. It seems just to be the missing coating or whatever that causes this green filter. Thanks in advance
