  1. Nothing. Would you recommend the Maximus VI Gene or the G1 Sniper m5? OR maybe something maybe a bit less expensive like the d3h by gigabyte?
  2. Got a good deal on it
  3. Well i might not need the ln2 features as I will never go that far! What motherboard would you recommend for a normal oc? Would the sniper be worth for the audio? Just wondering if normal audio chips are enough or crap(I'm not an audiophile but I like to have the best often times if it's worth it)
  4. I already thought about going air but I really prefer the looks of the aio and I feel it's more worth it as I can't fit the nh-d14 nor the ph-tc14pe. Well I guess at this point it would be sad to skimp on the mobo! I like the onboard audio and the looks
  5. I see, what kind of overclocking are we talking about? Would they ne worth it or would I achieve the dame kind of overclock on the d3h? Thanks vert helpful
  6. Well I picked the 860 as I might add another card on the future and I thought it would be better to buy this one and be done with it. Anyone can tell the difference between the sniper m5 and the d3h? Thanks a lot for the (fast) replies guys! Great community.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions! I like the motherboard and honestly I don't know why I haven't looked into it before. What are the differences, if any... Then why would such motherboards(sniper m5) exist? I also won't change the ram as I like the idea of low profile ram. Pictures will come for sure I'm ordering tonight! Wireless will come in handy because I'll probably move in another room in the house soon so we'd have to route other cables and I'll definately plan some LAN parties with my buddies so it'll be easier to go wireless and I'm also not giving up anything for it. The thing with ram is that it's the same price as 1600mhz...so why not. I know I won't see any benefits but meh
  8. Hello guys! I'm currently planning a build and I'd like to have some opinion on it. Here is what I have picked so far : PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($261.98 @ Newegg Canada) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($117.98 @ Newegg Canada) Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($194.98 @ Newegg Canada) Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($100.98 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($206.98 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($77.98 @ Newegg Canada) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card ($619.98 @ Newegg Canada) Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($50.33 @ Newegg Canada) Case: Corsair 350D Window MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($114.98 @ Newegg Canada) Power Supply: Corsair 860W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($174.98 @ Newegg Canada) Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($129.99 @ Newegg Canada) Total: $2051.14 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-02-16 15:00 EST-0500) What do you think of this build? I know I pay a premium for certain things where I could save money but I have some reasons for them. Nonetheless I'd like to have some feedback on the build! Thanks.
  9. Thank you!
  10. WEll my motherboard supports up to 4 dimms but i'd then be limited to 16gb, well I guess that doesn't matter since 16gb since to be plenty for the next years. Am I right?
  11. Hello guys I was wondering what was the best and also cheapest (from newegg.ca) 8gb ram kit that would look good on a g1 sniper m5 motherboard as I have a windowed case. Also, would it be better to get a single 8gb instead of 2x4gb to be able to upgrade to 16gb later and sacrifice some performance now? Thanks!
  12. Sorry, forgot to include these information! I'm in canada probably ordering from newegg.ca (planned on ordering from canadacomputers.com but I've heard their service is crap and the only advantage they had was retail stores close by while having a lot less choice). I don't really have a budget but trying to keep it as low as possible of course! I'm around the 2000$ mark. The system will be used mainly for gaming, programming, internet browsing etc. Might do some light 3d animations in the future but not much, so I don't feel the 4770k would be that beneficial. Thanks for the replies guys!
  13. Hello LTT community! I am in need of your great knowledge, as I have some questions concerning my next build. The build should be something along those lines: Case: 350d windowed CPU: 4670k CPU cooler: ? Motherboard: Maximus VI Gene GPU: ? RAM: 2x4 G.Skill 1866 cl9 PSU: AX860 HDD: WD 1T Blue SSD: 840 Evo 250gb Monitor: 23.6 in 1080p 120hz As you can see, there are a couple of question marks; First of all, what CPU cooler would you recommend? Still not sure about air cooler vs AIO unit. AIO units sure look a lot better and cleaner (in my opinion) but I've heard they're quite loud and with minimal risks of leaking. On the other hand, Large CPU coolers such as the nh-d14 and ph-tc14pe are out of the question as they simply don't fit. First question: What would you guys recommend between and AIO unit and an air cooler? Secondly, would you rather go for an h110 (heard it's a tight fit in the 350d), kraken x60 or h100i considering an AIO is "better" or opt for an air cooler such as the ph-tc12dx ? I am also undecided as to which GPU to go for! I'm pretty dead set on the 780; Considering the classified or the superclocked (not so much since prices seem fucked up on newegg.ca, the classified being only a couple of dollars more or even less than reference cards or the the sc acx, weird). The 780 lightning from MSI also caught my eye for that sweet backplate and good reviews but I've heard the bad memory chips used in these cards makes it not so much of a good overclocker. What would be your pick? Feel free to suggest anything. Another question related to the GPU... As I've never overclocked (rocking a laptop at the moment..) but I want to get into it, would the Classified be overkill? And what kind of improvement would I get from overclocking? Is it even worth it in the end excluding the fun of the thing? As for the parts that I've listed, I'm pretty confident in my choices after weeks of reading but again, feel free to suggest improvements and prove me wrong! Some might say my PSU is overkill... I'm taking it just in case I might SLI in the future and currently, I can get the 860 for the same price as the AX 760...it's a no brainer! So also might say to get something like a 770... Well, I don't really like the idea of a 680 on steroids, even though it doesnt really make sense as I've read a 770 would be plenty for a single 1080p monitor. I also believe a 780 will be easier to resell in the future if I ugrade. P.S.: Nevermind budget, I mainly want opinion on performance as I pretty much can afford everything I've mentioned. (Even though I kinda don't want to throw money out of the window for nothing...might include opinion on best bang for the buch if you wish!) Sorry for the long post and the poor organisation of my post... It's late and I'm quite tired so sorry about that! If anything is unclear, just feel free to ask me to clarify. (Might be the case as english is not my mother thongue) Lots of questions, and a lot of indecisions ! Thanks to anyone who will answer. Good night!
