  1. i5 7700k oc'd to 4.5gz, 1070, 16gb ddr4. i honestly dont know what i should be spending on monitors, these two ive got were £130 each but from 10 years ago think id be willing to spend £500 on two new ones. from the uk
  2. im not a monitor person so im going to go with whatever's reccomended, my monitors now are 1080p... thats it nothing fancy so whatever i can get without spending too much is going to be a massive difference.
  3. Hi guys i think its time to upgrade my monitors, i've been running 2 LG Flattrons that have got to be at least 9 years old if not 10 and they're starting to show they're age so what would people recommend? i don't want to break the bank but i would like to stick to two monitors, i don't do any photo editing or video editing so really just need something good for gaming. Thanks in advance
  4. Okay so i took the board into work and soldered in some new capacitors, 4 we're coming up with a bad reading with the ESR reader so i replaced all 4. the monitors back up and running again. thanks for your help guys at least i know what to look for now if it happens again.
  5. Well, i managed to take it apart on my lap with just a small flathead screwdriver for help. Mr Stressmaster was right and there are 3 capacitors with bulging caps. ive added photos but i dont know how well you'll be able to see. pretty sure we've got a load of these capacitors at work so ill take the board in with me and solder some new ones on. Thanks again guys.
  6. Thanks for your help, i work in an arcade so i might get lucky and have some spares in the workshop that i can "borrow". ill take it in tomorrow and check back. Thanks again for your help.
  7. Alright so i did a silly thing and thought about buying a new monitor and now ive come home to a dead one, its an LG flatron w2261vp, and ive had it for a good 8 years now. id rather like to keep it running if i can as i cant really afford a new monitor right now. After playing around with it abit i've figured out that if you leave it unplugged for a while and then plug it in, it will turn on and show the lg logo on the screen but then loses all power and you have to leave it a good 5 minutes before you can get it to do anything again. i've tried multiple different kettle plugs and they all come up with the same problem. i've never seen a monitor do this before so if anyone has any ideas for a fix i'd very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
