  1. Damn, just gunna have to save for a bit longer then! Thank you for your help. The RAID holds all my assets and footage, which daily is backed up to an external HDD, with all my active projects manually backed up to the primocache drive. When a change is made to the RAID I have it set up so that it's monitored and that change is replicated to another server I maintain at another location. For long term storage - once a year I move all the old footage onto duplicate HDDs, label them and store them in 2 pelican cases, one in a storage locker, and one at a friends house.
  2. I'll have 1 gpu to start with and want the option to go to 2 in the future. So I have that raid set up with 8tb in my current computer and Im close to filling it atm, so intend to step it up in capacity when I upgrade so ssds wont help there. Then the primocache set up I might be able to get away with just a large ssd, it's 3tb is atm, and that should be plenty for the foreseeable future, it's just the price of a 3tb is expensive. Edit: In regards to the primocache setup I've just reread what I speed typed and I might be replacing the third NVMe with a SSD anyway for more storage. Which makes it 2 NVMe drives, an SSD, 3 or 4 HDDs, 2 GPUs, and a NUC.
  3. So I'm planning a new build for a video editing/compositing/gaming system. I'd like to get a 3950x as it's 2/3rd the price of the 3960x but I know that wont give me enough pcie lanes (maybe) So the set up would be as follows; Nvme os drive Nvme cache drive Nvme + 2 - 8tb hdd coupled with primocache for a mass storage drive 2 hdds in raid 0 (might change this to a raid 5 depending on drive prices) Gtx 1080 Whatever gpu is current at the time Then I'd be using either an add-in card for thunderbolt or 10Gb ethernet to connect to an external nas Finally I think about 7-8 usb external positions would be populated Some things to note, I use davinci resolve, most of my time will be spent in the fusion and color tabs. Then the third nvme I mentioned might be left out for an ssd and a hdd with primocache. There might be more that needs to be changed/added as I'm at work and writing this before it leaves my brain. Any help will be appreciated. P.s my raid is backed up to an external hdd so if it goes i can recover my data easily, and my active projects are on another internal hdd for super quick recovery if I'm halfway through a project and it breaks.
  4. Nope. Nothing has worked. I did a full pass with multiple softwares, I did a reset-physicaldisk. I've tried many a thing. The only thing I can think of is putting it back in the external RAID Enclosure and undoing the raid through the software it provides, but that's so much hassle to get it all set up again and I have a feeling it's still not going to fix it. I'm just gunna buy a new drive. Thanks for the help guys!
  5. About half way through the seatools tests, once those are finished I'll see if it worked, if not I'll use that tool and then report back.
  6. Ok, I tried that, then I tried closing as many proccess as possible and still the same error message for bothe things. Still not showing up in get-physicaldisk. I've run out of time for the tests to finish today so I'll re-run them tomorrow and hope that they fix it, if not apparently I can't use this drive for Storage Spaces and I'll just chuck it in my server and buy another to RAID 0 with. Edit:Ok so I was messing around and noticed some weird behaviour. I wanted to see if there was anything I could watch that was happening in Disk Management while Storage Spaces was making the pool. For the faulty disk it unintiallised it and then it just didn't come back on, and with the health disk it just went straight through the process without the initialising first. Not sure if that's useful.
  7. So I'm trying to use 2 HDDs (identical) that were in a RAID 0 in another machine. 1 of them works fine, but the other one spits out a "Can't prepare Drives" error with the code (0x00000002) error code. The drive itself shows up in everything I could think of to check it's actually showing up, except in one case. So I went into Drive Manager and tried a few things, none of them worked. I did some googling to see what's up and didn't really come across anything specific to my instance, so I tried some of the things other people said fixed it. I ran Powershell and did get-disk and it shows up there alongside it's buddy with the same Uniqueid (as well as the same UniqueID as my boot drive for some reason), then I opened diskpart to check it shows up there, it does. I tried changing the ID by 1 hexidecimal at the end, that didn't solve it, I did a clean on it and that didn't solve it. So I did a get-Physicaldisk and it doesn't show. No matter what I can do I can't get it to show from a get-PhysicalDisk and I think that's why StorageSpaces can't use it to build a pool. I've run seagate seatools and don't a full overwrite and run all the advance tests and it's still not working. I'm currently running a Full All Long on it to see if that'll help. The drive itself works perfectly fine in windows standalone, both of them do. However I would like to have a RAID 0 between the 2 drives for quick access to some data while working. I could do a BIOS RAID with the two, but I've got a feeling from how it works with my motherboard (X399 Aurous Gaming 7) that it'll mess up my other drives which are in a Storagepool underm Primocache and I don't want to have to go to the hassle of rebuilding my comp if it does mess that up cause I'd need to rebuild like 5tb of data from my backup... I can provide screenshots if needed. The disks where in an external raid enclosure previously, I just wanted to get rid of another point of failure in my work environment haha Edit: If this is in the wrong place, point me to where to post this, I know it's not specifically about servers or a NAS, but I couldn't think of where else to post that might be trying to do what I am.
  8. I use the vpn that comes with Delugevpn by routing all the traffic through that. Then on top of that I use ZeroTier. The only thing I can't do is access web uis from my computer outside of my actual network. I set up some duckdns tings for radarr and sonarr and that's it.
  9. Turns out both my bios' had corrupted so I just needed to do a BIOS flash. Thank god for Q-Flash+
  10. I think it's either my RAM or my CMOS playing up. I turned the computer off fine lastnight after 5 months of it running perfectly and it just wouldn't turn on this morning! I can't give a picture of the loop as it happens too fast
  11. I keep getting a loop of error code 14,15,C0,48,66,67,3E, 92. I'm using the gigabyte Aurous gaming 7 tr4 Please help. I'm currently takign everything out down to my CPU and 1 stick of RAM....
  12. Gimmie a TR4 big boi 280 version amd Im sold
  13. I'm honestly not feeling that this is enough performance increase to justify the 1.1k
  14. This is a good come back at Ryzen. Its about 200 dollars more expensive but the 9900k is for sure going to out perform the 2700x if it can be OC'd all cores to over 4.2ghz.
