Backing Up with bad sectors? (Paragon Backup and other options)
vWORMHAT replied to vWORMHAT's topic in Storage Devices
ok thank you, what program do you recommend to use to backup the drive, cant find any workaround in paragon. If i use DDrescue will that wipe the drive that the files are being copied to? -
So crystal disk info is saying caution on my 4tb Seagate barracuda , also ran seatools on it and a test code B196A3c7. So should i even bother with making a sea tool boot tool and try to use that to fix the drive? i know the drive is most likely on its last legs so ill order another one but for now i need to back it up but paragon is giving me an error Is there a workaround for this? or should i or can i use something like minitool to just clone the drive to my backup 8tb harddrive while i wait for a replacement? any input on what you would do would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!!! TLDR Hard drive is going bad, cant backup with paragon, what should i do, and is the seatools bootable drive any good at fixing bad sectors?

Windows keeps telling me im low on space like this but you make a solid point ill look and see what i can clear out of it or move to the bigger drive. Will having more free space on the main C drive help performance at all?

Hey! My 250gb SSD is low on space and i keep getting a message from windows about it, so i got a 1tb SSD I want to turn into my c drive. can I simply use something like MiniTool Partition Wizard to clone the drive to the other? or I see there is a migrate OS to SSD wizard which is probably exactly what I want to do but I just want to make sure I don't loose all the data on it and all the programs that depend on the C drive. Will using the wizard allow all the programs to work correctly or would the programs need to be reinstalled? Sorry I know its such a basic thing to ask but I just want to make sure everything goes smooth and the Linus forums haven't let me down yet!!!

Wired internet + lan data transfer between 2 pc's , Router or Hub?????
vWORMHAT replied to vWORMHAT's topic in Networking
thanks ill try that now, the router only has LAN ports but ill still try it and ill see if disabling DHCP helps with the speeds, if the speeds are still throttled down to 60mbps then ill look into getting a Switch -
sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but the thing is I ran a very long cable up into my attic down a story and connected it to my router and the one and only port i have on my main pc which allows it to get 160mbps + down, (when its on wifi it gets something horrible like 17mbps) i have a second pc that i often want to trade data with and often times ill have to put it on a usb drive which takes forever to upload and offload. I have an extra router so i plugged the cable i have running to the main router into it and then used another cable to connect my pc to the second router and i get half the speed around 60mbps. is this right? im wondering if something is wrong or if a ethernet hub would be better/ **TLDR** ideally i would like to use the one long cable i ran through the house to come to some sort of hub or router that i can then plug both the pcs into so that i can have high speed wired internet on both and also allow the pcs to transfer data quickly through the ethernet cables without having to unplug everything and then connect the two with one ethernet cable. Would you use a ethernet hub for this or a router and do the specs on the router matter? thank you.....pleas help

Matx Motherboard suggestion for 4790k lga 1150
vWORMHAT replied to vWORMHAT's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks , looking on ebay now, you ever buy from eBay? I haven't and worried shipping will take too long -
Got some parts for free and want to turn them into a small media/game rig. Bought this case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R4L54NX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_qfv3FbZWFF4JM And already sent back the wrong motherboard I bought which was a lga 1151 and I need a 1150. Amazon doesn't have many options for 1150. Looks like it may between these two unless you guys have any suggestions https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CRJU3JA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_fhv3Fb3PH6ECC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Or a mini item version https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FYMXEI4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_Lhv3FbRMCJWTA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Also between these two which one would you pick and why?

My ipad pro will connect to my Seagate hard drives but when disconnected it corrupts them, which means it won't show up on the ipad until I plug them into a PC and repair them. There is no option to eject on the ipad and I've seen that it's not neccessary but since they corrupt after unplugging it seems it should be a feature. Anyone know why this is happening and what the fix is? Other drives I have like thumbdrives and sd cards are fine when unplugging. The device is also jailbroken so If there's a fix that involves that I can do that too, thanks.

vWORMHAT replied to vWORMHAT's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Lol yeah! I should probably run a stress test but I'm kinda scared to but I think it will be fine. Man fuck preaplied thermal paste especially on that wraith prism they mineaswell just use concrete. -

vWORMHAT replied to vWORMHAT's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks! Check out the progress , got it off but hopefully I didn't over heat it, also got a tiny bit of arctic cool on the pins when trying to twist it is that okay? -

2700x fused/stuck to heatsink
vWORMHAT replied to vWORMHAT's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Oh dear got it came off! It was insane I bitterly had to hammer it off with a flat head, now I'm worried I broke it with excessive heat but well see, I had a heat gun and temperature gun and tried to not go past 85c. Also I think a tiny tiny bit of arctic cool got on a couple pins should I be worried -

Wanted to upgrade my cooler, the cpu ripped out the socket and is stuck to cooler, I've been Soaking in %70 alcohol (no where has more than %70) As well as arctic clean thermal material remover Tried using the floss method but the cpu is so flush with the cooler Its too thick to get underneath Also tried heating up the heatsink than twisting but it feels like it's on there rock solid All the pins look straight any help would be appreciated I'm still searching the net for more info

I see, thank you! I'll pick up the fuma 2 unless you recomend something else. I want the best cooler I can get but with such tall ram my options seem to be limited down to the fuma 2.

Hello I have 4 teamgoup delta ram sticks which are tall at 49mm Need to upgrade my CPU fan which is currently the wraith prism that came with the 2700x I want to run an overclock on it so I want a high end cooler, the dark rock pro 4 is what I want I'm just worried it won't fit with ram but this forum says it could fit 50mm ram Anyone have this cooler or any experience Also if I elevate the fan will the performance still be as good? If bot should I just get the fuma 2 which has an asymmetrical design to accommodate ram? One thread said
