Hi Folks, I'm new here but a computer tinker for my whole life, except the overclocking part, reason why I came to this forum. I was looking at the 7980xe and found a great deal of $1200 for it so I started planning; Ordered a x299 R VI Apex and looking over RAM and on the QVL list found a few "cheap" 4x8 DIMMs at 3-3200Mhz, particularly from corsair, like the dominator platinum or the RGB ones. The only problem is my lack of overclocking knowledge, where I would like the forum's help: If I go for, let's say 3000Mhz, will I be able to overclock this RAM over it's XMP profile, to 3800 or above? I know overclocking shouldn't be done if you're not experienced, but I have the PC know-how and did some OC (but couldn't pass 2999) on my ryzent 1700x + trident Z RGB 3200Ram (attached pictures that I found) - mainly because I liked the ram but didn't use the QVL though I didn't find it listed there.
