  1. Bought it around October 2022 and their website says they offer a 3 year warranty. But knowing the drama surrounding Gigabyte's 3000 series, I'm probably SOL
  2. Yeah, I had heard about gigabyte lol. After a lot of testing I threw in my 1080ti and it worked perfectly, so the 3080ti likely died. Big rip
  3. Was playing Warframe last night and my monitors both went black out of nowhere, but I could still hear my friends in discord as well as other audio. My only option was to hold the power button to force shutdown, and when I tried booting back up, I couldn't get an image on my monitors. I use 1 HDMI 2.1 port and 1 DP port. Tried switching the ports I was using on the GPU but that didn't work. The RGB on the card also still works, not sure if that's a good indicator of it still being alive. The GPU being dead is my current theory, since I've 100% confirmed everything else about the PC works. Was able to boot into Windows and verify this via other components' RGB + friends seeing my discord status. If there are any diagnostic tricks or potential fixes anyone knows of, I'd love to hear them. I really don't want to go out and buy a new GPU, especially if it may not be the real issue. SPECs: Mobo: MSI Z790 Carbon wifi CPU: i7 13700K GPU: Gigabyte Windforce 3080ti (3000 series gigabyte card doesn't give me much confidence ) RAM: 32GB 6000MHz DDR5 Corsair Vengeance PSU: 1000W Corsair Monitors are one 4K 144hz Acer panel and one 1080p 360hz Alienware panel. Acer panel is connected via HDMI 2.1, Alienware via DP. UPDATE 1: Integrated graphics is giving me proper image, so dead GPU theory is looking more likely. UPDATE 2: GPU confirmed dead lol
  4. Just finished a new build and my PC can't connect despite it being on ethernet. I've tried downloading the LAN drivers for my motherboard from MSI's website, but I got an error code (code was a 103 if that matters) when trying to install them. Should I try the drivers from Intel's website instead? The motherboard I have is an MSI MPG Z790 Carbon Wifi and my CPU is a 13700K. The ethernet cable should almost certainly be fine. I was using it on my previous PC less than a week ago. EDIT: Just watched a Youtube tutorial from MSI where they loaded the LAN drivers during the Windows installation. Is this really necessary? They were doing it on Windows 11 for what it's worth, and I'm on Windows 10.
  5. Alright, thank you. The cooler's been off the CPU for about a week now and the paste is visibly dried up, so I'll have to replace it. Does the alcohol need to be high concentration? Like in the 90% range?
  6. Sorry to bump this a week later but I forgot to ask, does the paste need to be applied to the CPU or cooler? I know it's normally applied to the CPU, but I ask because the cooler came with pre-applied paste. Not sure if that changes anything and just want to be safe.
  7. Alright, thanks! Figured putting them in a box wouldn't really matter, just wanted to make sure.
  8. Just put together a new build but the motherboard doesn't work right and I need to RMA it. I made the short-sighted decision to throw away most of the parts' packaging and only have one open ESD wrap. Where is a good place to keep my parts until I find them a new motherboard? I have a marble countertop and wood coffee table available, but I'm still worried about static considering the parts are all pretty high end and expensive. Also side note, will I need to replace the thermal paste on my AIO's pump? I'll have to separate it from the CPU, and I imagine that'll take some of the paste with it.
  9. Awesome, thanks. I'll go with the second option then. I'm wanting Windows on the new drive since it's faster than the 970 Evo
  10. So, I'm building a new PC and want windows on the new SSD I got (SN770). I'd also like to take the 970 Evo from my old PC and add it to my new PC so I have two SSDs. The 970 Evo has windows 10 on it, and I'd like to erase all the data from it before installing it. I bought a new Windows 10 key for the new SN770, and I'm wondering if having also having windows on the 970 evo is going to pose any problems. Am I just overcomplicating this?
  11. So assuming I got bad luck and my motherboard isn't up to date, how would I know if it's able to be flashed without the CPU? I'm assuming by just turning it on and seeing if it boots to the BIOS?
  12. I've been told that getting a z690 mobo over a z790 is the play due to savings, but that I'll need to update my motherboard's BIOS to actually make it work. How exactly is this done? Do I need to have a compatible CPU to begin with? I'm assuming the 13700K I'm getting won't work out of the box. The board I specifically got was the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Ultra.
  13. I'll keep this in mind once I have everything built. Still waiting on the motherboard which will come in this weekend at the earliest, but once I have it up and running and I'll see how the temps are with all 6 intakes vs. just the 3 front panel fans on. In the event temps are better with just the 3 front fans, would I be able to run the 3 side panel fans at a very low RPM to still keep the visual aspect of them? Or would that still be creating the dead zone, and I'd need to disable/remove them altogether?
  14. I also wondered if 3 side panel fans would really do much, but in the end I figured they wouldn't hurt and more importantly I thought it would look good aesthetically. I'm down to throw away a little money for some looks
  15. I have a Corsair 5000D Airflow and I plan on filling out all 10 fan slots. The 3 top slots will be taken up by a 360mm AIO (corsair H150i), which leaves me room for 7 fans. The case has three 120mm slots on the side panel adjacent to the front panel, and I'm wondering if any of them should be outtake fans or if all 3 of those plus all 3 front panel slots should be intake fans, with the rear fan as my sole outtake fan. I'll have a 3080ti and 13700K inside this thing, by the way.
  16. So I'm guessing the pins labeled "Gnd" (which I'm assuming means "ground") is supposed to be missing? I can't say I'm too comfortable with missing a pin though. Seems like it could stir up some issues considering my PC will be fairly high wattage, even though the PSU is a 1000W.
  17. I was putting together my PC and noticed this PCIe plug was missing two of the gold things inside. Is this okay, or do I need to get a replacement? The PC being powered is fairly high end with a 3080ti and 13700K. Edit: Just looked through the other cables and out of my 7 of my PCIe 8 pin connectors, 2 of them aren't missing the gold part. Some of the other different cables are also missing them, so it's making me think this might be normal?
  18. I didn't know what this meant and had to look it up. First result was from Urban Dictionary lmao Anyways, thanks for the help. I'll check those fans out but will probably go Corsair just for iCue since I'm getting an H150i elite
  19. Case fans are universal right? I'm building a new PC in a 5000D Airflow and I'm wondering if the fans in my current rig can be recycled for the new one. They're 120mm, and the two in my new case are also 120mm. Might also wanna replace the two already installed with some aftermarket RGB ones.
  20. Thanks, was just gonna go with another 970 since that's what I have in my current rig and was just gonna recycle that one + add another one. I checked out the SN770 and it does look a lot better.
  21. I'll likely just go with that MSI board you shared in that other build. 4 DIMM performance isn't that important to me since I'll only be running 2 DIMM anyways. I'm mainly concerned with a decent VRM since I'll be doing some OC'ing on the 13700K and also want a good amount of USB hubs plus WiFi capabilities. Also on the topic of this, does the max rated RAM speed of the mobo matter much if the RAM I'm getting doesn't reach that speed? My RAM will only go up to 5200MHz, so even if the gigabyte board struggles with it's 6600 or whatever, will it matter since I won't be anywhere near that? And in regards to the case, I'll probably end up going with the 5000D if I can find it well priced (eBay has a bunch of listings for about $150), but I might also go with that Fractal case from that other build. You made a good point with GPU temps, and the 3080ti is the main reason I went with the 5000X in the first place (was originally considering the 4000X but the extra space in the 5000X made it more appealing).
  22. To answer both of you, I already own the PSU and bought it about two years ago. I believe I got it for $180 back then, not sure why it's gone up in price so much. I originally bought it for a 3080 build, but the poor GPU stock situation cancelled those plans. The motherboard I have listed is available for $300 on Amazon, which was where I was planning on buying it. I'm not really sure why you say it has bad memory support though. It supports up to 128gb of DDR5 at 6400MHz. Is there something I'm missing? I will check out some other cases though. I managed to find a new 5000X for $150 on eBay instead of $215, and I saw a bunch of good reviews for it and 4000x (which is just a smaller version). LTT gave it a pretty good review too, but if you know of some other good cases then I'll for sure check them out. Appreciate both of you responding
  23. Hi, just looking for anyone who might see some issues with the build I'm looking to put together. It's not insanely budget oriented, hence the $260 GIF cooler and other dumb stuff. I'm mostly just concerned about logistical issues like clearance, part compatibility, and whatnot. PCPartPicker does tell me that my cooler may require a mounting adapter, which is odd. It seems like every cooler I've plugged in gets the same message, so I'm guessing that's just how the all the Z690s are? Also the 12700K is just a stand-in. I'll likely be getting a 13700K when those drop next week. LINK: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GZPVH2
