  1. So for a while I've been having an annoying issue, where at random times the majority of my devices will suddenly not be able to reach the internet even though it shows as being connected to Wifi. Checking the router all lights are on as they should be and some devices (wired ones) seem to usually work okay. My router is dual band and has seperate 2.4 and 5Ghz channels. At first I've noticed 5Ghz devices seem to lose internet first, with only some 2.4Ghz devices following shortly after. I also noticed last night when this happened, when attempting to login to the router's setting in the TP Link app it said it couldn't find any devices to connect to. The most annoying thing with this problem is there doesn't seem to be any pattern with when or what devices exactly it happens too. The only way I've found to fix it is to reboot the router, but then I know it will happen again a few days or so later, though occasionally it's happened more than once in a day. I've tried factory resetting and updating the router's firmware with neither making any difference to the situation. Router model is a TP Link Archer VR600
  2. Thanks for your help Princess Luna What I may do is use this picky Kingston one in the laptop that currently has the Crucial, as they seem to get on okay, and then use the Crucial from that in the VAIO. Or what I might do is return it to Amazon, say it's faulty as it's not working in this particular laptop (so in a way I suppose it is), and then order another Crucial.
  3. Thank you. So it sounds like it's not a very good one, though I hadn't previously heard this (looking at Amazon reviews) and I also have had a Kingston SSD in my main PC for the last year+ now without issue, so assumed they were pretty decent. By the sounds of it there's nothing much I can do/try to get them to work together then? Do I just give in and get a different SSD for it?
  4. After having upgraded other PC's and laptop's to a SSD in the past with no major problems, I thought swapping the stock HDD in an oldish Sony Vaio laptop (Fit E 15 model) with a new SSD would be a breeze. Unfortunately though it just doesn't seem to like it. If I put the new SSD (this Kingstone one) in to it, replacing it's HDD, it just refuses to do anything. It won't boot, it will load up the Vaio Recovery screen (via the Assist) button but selecting anything (even the BIOS) just produces a blank screen, with nothing ever loading. Taking the SSD out of it solves all those problems. What's odd though is I've tried this Kingston SSD in another laptop I have, and it works completely fine. What's even more odd is I thought I'd try a Crucial SSD I also have from another laptop in the Vaio, and it boots and loads completely fine too. So, the Kingston SSD seems to be fine as it works in other systems, but the Vaio seems to be okay with SSD's as it works with the Crucial one I have. I've since updated the Vaio's firmware/BIOS to the latest available and it's made no difference. Any idea what the problem is? Or is it just the case that these just don't "like" eachother and that's that? Not sure if it helps but while the Kingston SSD is in, the drive indicator is constantly on too.
  5. I'll look in to Corsair's stuff as well then, as they look good and I have always heard good things about them But what are the differences between the included hub in this case and the Hue hubs? Is it the amount you can connect to them?
  6. Hi In the new year I plan on getting a new case, and I'm quite set on the NZXT H500 but I cannot work out whether it's worth the extra money to get the 'i' version as opposed to just the normal H500. It seems the main (and only?) difference is the H500i comes with a 'CAM-powered hub' and some LED strips, but I don't really understand the differences between the hub that comes with this case compared to the NZXT Hue+ (or Hue 2) hubs that are sold seperately? I don't want to pay the extra for the H500i to find out the included hub is very 'limited' when you can purchase the seperate Hue hub for a little over the difference in cost between the 2 case versions. Hopefully someone can confirm what the differences are and which option is better. Thanks
  7. Does anyone have any ideas? This is frustrating me as I just don't get it at all. Basically the first day of the new TP-Link router it performs amazingly and then the very next day the max speeds I can get from it almost half. I haven't connected any additional devices to it and I haven't changed any settings. I've tried restarting it which makes no difference either. The 5G network is pretty much the same as the standard 2.4G when doing a speedtest now, maybe about 5mbp/s higher but thats it.
  8. When you say signal strength are you talking about the iPhone or the router? I'm not sure how you find out either if I'm honest
  9. I'm hoping maybe someone here can help me here. I got myself a brand new router yesterday (TP Link Archer V600), all setup without any problems. First time I've had a dual channel WiFi so was really impressed when I connected my iPhone 7 to the 5G channel, did some Speedtest's and got pretty much my 'max' internet speed at around 70mbp/s. However now (less than 24 hours later), I haven't changed any settings in the router, and upon doing the same speedtest with my phone on the 5G channel I now generally get around 40-50mbp/s. Of course this is still pretty good but not hugely better than the 2.4G channel, and so after yesterdays results am just a bit dissapointed and wondered why this has happened and if theres anything I can do to fix it?
