After having upgraded other PC's and laptop's to a SSD in the past with no major problems, I thought swapping the stock HDD in an oldish Sony Vaio laptop (Fit E 15 model) with a new SSD would be a breeze.
Unfortunately though it just doesn't seem to like it.
If I put the new SSD (this Kingstone one) in to it, replacing it's HDD, it just refuses to do anything.
It won't boot, it will load up the Vaio Recovery screen (via the Assist) button but selecting anything (even the BIOS) just produces a blank screen, with nothing ever loading.
Taking the SSD out of it solves all those problems.
What's odd though is I've tried this Kingston SSD in another laptop I have, and it works completely fine.
What's even more odd is I thought I'd try a Crucial SSD I also have from another laptop in the Vaio, and it boots and loads completely fine too.
So, the Kingston SSD seems to be fine as it works in other systems, but the Vaio seems to be okay with SSD's as it works with the Crucial one I have.
I've since updated the Vaio's firmware/BIOS to the latest available and it's made no difference.
Any idea what the problem is? Or is it just the case that these just don't "like" eachother and that's that?
Not sure if it helps but while the Kingston SSD is in, the drive indicator is constantly on too.
