  2. hi all. After looking around and reading reviews, i decided to purchase the acer swift 3 as my new laptop about a week ago. However a few days ago the speaker occasionally goes very static-y. I have tried just about every solution I can find online. I have re-installed the drivers, messed with setting in the control panel and so on. i believe it is a software issue as this happens even when i plug in headphones. The only thing I haven't done is mess with the BIOS. its up to date, and quite honestly, I dont feel comfortable messing with it as i dont need any more paper weights. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? if so were you able to solve it yourself or did you have to contact acer? I dont have the box the laptop came in any more, so if i have to contact acer will they provide a box or will i have to makeshift my own?
  3. hi all, i am looking to purchase a new laptop. My current one is about 5-6 years and old and is starting to have difficulty with basic tasks. I'm looking for a laptop around the $600 usd mark, though i'm willing to spend slightly more if it means i can get a long lasting one. it will primarily be for school and general youtube/twitch/netflix watching. after doing some digging on this forum, as well as other websites, I have seen the Acer Swift 3 pop up multiple times. I am also eyeing this laptop. My only requirements are decent battery life and reasonably lightweight. I would also like some local storage, but it will mostly be word documents so 256gb or so would more than suffice.
  4. hi all, so i'm in the market for a new gaming pc. however, some of the pcs at my price point only come with a 500gb or so ssd hard drive. my concern is that with the large size of more recent games, i will only be able to hold a handful of games at any one time on my internal hard drive. so i was wondering if it would be possible to load games on an external hard drive and still run them efficiently? i've looked into this a little bit and from what i can tell there might be some slower loading times, but i dont fully understand how much slower as i couldn't find any exact information. i also found conflicting information regarding any performance issues this may cause i was hoping anyone who has tried this themselves could share their experience. what sort of issues did you run into?
  5. hi all, i'm pretty sure my desktop is about to be on its death bed (still trying to figure it out but its either my power supply or my GPU) and its several years old anyway so i began looking for a replacement. problem is any computer worth buying is going to cost me thousands of dollars if i buy new. out of curiosity i began looking on my local craigslist for used desktops and i found some decent ones for a good price. I've looked around a little bit and many agree that if nothing else i'll need to buy a new hard drive, and if i were to buy one used i would insist on opening it up and looking at the components as well as running some benchmarks to make sure everything is square. so what do you guys think? is this a decent idea or should i just hope my desktop doesn't die for a little while longer while i save up for a new pc?
