Cool! I read that current Nvidia laptop GPUs are only ~10% slower at max than their desktop equivalents.Can you replace the CPU in these laptops if you want to upgrade?

I know now.Back when I bought the laptop 3 years ago,I was completely tech oblivious and my reasoning was like this "Both the laptop and desktop have 4gb graphics and intel i5,they both will work the same,might as well get the smaller one".

I guess they ll have to replace the mobo and gpu.I won't attempt to have it repaired now as I am building a PC in 2 days.

I don't know,i tried explaining to him beforehand amd drivers might install but it would bsod.He didn't pay much attention to me.I think only they have the authority to pass it to some major location where gpu can be replaced. Edit:Laptop's ctrl and caps lock keys are also broken.They didn't have the keyboard replacement for my laptop either.

The graphic card died 10 days after warranty expired.I took it to a Lenovo service center but they kept the laptop for 2 weeks,installed amd drivers and gave it back to me while it kept bsoding every 10 seconds after boot.

I have tried fully formatting the hard drive and reinstalling windows but amd card still didn't work.

I still have the laptop,but I am currently having difficulty installing OS on it.There were many different crash reasons on bsod screen but atikmdag.sys was one of them too. Edit:Lot of the BSOD errors pointed to driver issue.But I have tried almost everything with drivers,uninstalling old drivers with DDU in safe mode,uninstalling drivers using amd cleanup utility.

To remove laptop battery I have to open the back panel and the keyboard which I stopped midway in fear of breaking something.I will have to try it again.Thanks for the advice!

I am not sure,I just downloaded the most recent card update from the amd site at the time and my laptop was always plugged in at 100% battery.

Almost 2 years ago,I decided to do a driver update for my amd card in hopes it might get me closer to 30 fps in overwatch.Mid driver update laptop blue screened and laptop kept crashing until amd drivers were uninstalled.I tried at least 10 versions of amd drivers but none worked. I am not looking for tech support.I just want to figure out how my gpu died.I can't link my laptop since its discontinued.But here is the model name - Lenovo z51-70 80k6 Specs: i5 5200u 8gb ram 1tb 5400rm hdd amd r9 m375x 4gb

the RM550x has 1 6+2pin PCIe cable and 2 connectors.My graphics card needs 6+8 pin power,will I need to buy another 6+2pin connector?Also your PSU tier list was really helpful.

I can also get the RM650x for 15$ more.
