  1. So, I have the same question as everyone else, I need help on finding a laptop. I'm starting to study in september and will need a notebook, I will hopefully have my abitur (German finals) in a few weeks and will use the money I will get as well as some of my one to buy me a notebook. I would like to do some gaming on it so I'm hoping for something with a 1660ti but if that isn't possible than I will settle for less. It should be portable enought to carry in my backpack etc I'll guess that everything below 4kg should be fine. The battery life should be fine enough to use it for notes during lectures but I'm fin€ with plugging it in while doing heavier stuff. It should be a 15", I don't care about speaker and webcam, so something like a zepherus without one is also fine. Thunderbolt would be very nice as it will most likely be faster than my desktop so I might get a dock. On the cpu side, it should be good enough for a little bit of gaming and, as I'm studying computer science, coding. I'm hoping to spend in the low 1000€ range but if necessary I will spend up to 1500. I already set my eyes on the gs65 with an 1660ti but the availability of it in Germany is horrible, I cant even get a price of it because most reputed stores either don't have it or only sell it used. I hope you can help me a little if you need anything else let me know. Edit: I forgot to add that I don't want a gamer look, if it's rgb that's nice as long as you can fully turn it of. So if possible an understated look
  2. I, have another question, my pc is folding know, but it says "These are high-priority **CPU** projects to simulate the main " while computing on my gpu(taskmanager says gpu copy). Is that normal or am i doing something wrong?
  3. jup, thats exactly what it says, thank you very much
  4. Hey guys, i wanted to start folding to help in the corona virus research. I just installed folding@home and quickly made an identity, but know my cpu and gpu are sitting at 0% not doing anything. Does anyone know why this is? Its very likely that i just configured something wrong. I´m sorry that i cant attach a screenshot, the forum only returns an error when i try to attach it.
  5. @Eumel2@GeneXiS_X What do you guys think of notebooks with ryzen 5 2500U or ryzen 7 3700u Processors? They seem to be very available here unlike laptops with an mx150 like antony recommended in yesterdays video.
  6. @GeneXiS_XShes manly playing Sims 4 and the battery should be big enough that it´s not extremely annoying when your just browsing but shes always going to be plugged in when gaming or editing. The weight and size doesn't matter to her as long as its in like normal bounds (not 5 like the alienware laptops where you need a forklift to cary them). Upgrade able RAM would be nice if its not 16gb (which i doubt you can get at that price point) but 750€ is not that much so im not expecting too much. The display would be nice if its good but i think she has a 27" monitor at home.
  7. Hey guys, a friend of mine is searching for a new Laptop and asked me to help her but im not that up to date in the notebook scene so i wanted to hear your input. She's looking for a Notebook around the 700 - 750€ range (in Germany) and will manly use it for Photo Editing and a little bit of gaming but i already told her that the gaming experience will probably not be the greatest. Battery Life doesn't should be ok but nothing fancy is needed, shes also very flexible on the screen size. For Photo editing she uses light room and apparently she also draws a little bit with something like a wacom tablet. I thought of buying something with an AMD CPU because of the superior graphics but im not sure what is needed for photo editing. Do you have any suggestions on what laptop she should look into?
  8. @vjizzle2384 i stopped playing with the fan. it seems like that created some static electricity
  9. @vjizzle2384so your suggestion got me thinking, in the last half a year or so i was always playing with my cpu fan(letting my finger run on it such stuff) while games load(my sidepanel doesnt fit anymore) and that seemes to have built up static electricity. So i just stopped doing that and i havent had any hardlocks in nearly a week?
  10. @vjizzle2384intressting ill grab an esd wristwrap and just ground myself for the next days while using the pc to see if that has any effects but that would explain why it seemed that it never happened when i wasnt on my pc
  11. @vjizzle2384i let the stress test run for an hour and it didn´t seem to make any problems heres a screenshot of the temp graphs:
  12. So..... karma came and f***ed me?? about 5min after posting this: my pc had a hardlock as described before. In the last 2 days it ran without a problem but now after about 1hr of on time it happened again while watching a yt live stream
  13. @vjizzle2384i fixed the problem already but i´m still gonna try it and see if any temps look worring
