  1. Well the cable was brand new on the t430 since I had just modded it to have a fhd screen. And I tried with both brand new ram and the stuff I took off of the computers. Both do use integrated graphics, so that's why I'm thinking I might have just killed the cpu and the mobo is fine. Maybe. But yea the boot problems were more like every 3rd time it would boot on the dock and never without it. It turns on normally the thinklight just before bios splash screen and then turns it off and it just got stuck with the thinklight on every time.
  2. Even tho the consensus on the internet seems to be that RAM can not kill a computer, I think I've just murdered my second thinkpad with a stick of used ddr3l. Could this just be the ram murdering my OS install or genuine cpu/gpu/mobo murder? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCUOsFvHY80&feature=youtu.be To me this looks like a gpu issue. On the first murdered thinkpad (t430) I ran the ram for almost a week until I got a blue screen and the thing didn't ever want to boot outside of the dock. It did have similar graphical issues aswell after it. I changed both the cpu and mobo at the same time on that one. I decided to retry the used ram but just run memtest86 on it, but the laptop didn't want to boot at all, and when it did, i wasnt fast enough to pick the memtest86 option on grub. This is what awaited me on bootup. Can someone explain what has happened here? What could be dead, could it just be eeprom corruption or something? Fairly annoyed that I keep killing great laptops. Usually just after spending hundreds of € to buy upgrades for them. Also if someone wants to pay for shipping, I got 16 gigs of so-dimm ddr3l on offer for free ;)
  3. Update: Could it have just been windows update? I've seen weird behavior with almost all of my computers when a windows update is coming up, and later the same day the laptop decided to do an update. Haven't seen the bug since. I'm 90% ready to switch to linux
  4. That's was my worst fear... Last expensive laptop I'm buying, it's gonna be old thinkpads from here on out. Doesn't hurt as much to have them break on me.
  5. Hi, I just opened my Dell XPS 13 9360 with the fancier touch screen and noticed this weird vertical line glitch. I couldn't find any mention of something like it on the internet but might be my poor google skills. https://youtu.be/gshgE6eolog I tried updating the bios and nothing happened, tried updating the graphics driver and it just said straight up no thanks. Tried the built in diagnostic tools, the one you get when pressing enter while booting had the glitch on screen all the time while doing the test and it found nothing wrong. The screen only test (one you get by pressing d on bootup) is the only screen i don't see this bug on. This is really weird and I'm not too happy about it. Both of my laptops seem to be dying and kinda hard to do school stuff on paper nowadays :/ Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I feel like its not windows since it's also present on bios but also it feels like its not hardware related since its not there when doing the display test Update: alright tried to film the display test for you and now the fault is totally gone. It did boot to an preparing windows screen, could this be windows 10 being crazy buggy once again?? I mean either both of my laptops have dying motherboards or something and both decide to die on the same week or windows 10 should be eliminated. Still doesn't make any sense that it was also present on the bios screen. I'm a bit sceptical of the dell also because every other bootup it doesn't recognize the ssd at all, but it has been doing it for like 2 years now.
  6. Hi, I'm running a t430 and I'm feeling like I should upgrade my perfectly fine machine just because I don't feel like reflashing the embedded controller to get my modded oldschool keyboard to work perfectly. Plus I mean... a modern quad core would be nice too even if I could mod this easily I've been looking at a custom sku of the t495 but I can't really decide if the ryzen 7 3700u is worth the 160€(more than I paid for my t430...) over the ryzen 5 3500u. I'm not looking to do too much gaming on the thing so realistically the extra power on the gpu side might not make any difference, even tho it'd be nice to have it just in case. Plus I have heard that the 3700u does perform worse in some laptops than the 3500u thanks to thermals. Can anyone confirm if thinkpads are one of those laptops? It's not really fair to compare 3700u on a badly cooled laptop to a 3500u on a well cooled one. Also I've been missing the touch screen I had on my xps13 but I don't know if it'd be worth the extra money either. I'd probably install linux on the thing after I've passed all the courses that need windows software in uni. Does anyone have experience with getting the thinkpad touchscreens to work on linux? I remember having some issues with the xps on everything but ubuntu, but it was years ago.
  7. I finally did get my money but the way they seem to treat their customers really sucks. I just emailed them through their regular customer service but it took ages for them to even answer
  8. I complained to them via email, and after 3 days waiting for an answer, they answered me, blaming indiegogo for taking too long processing the refund. 10 minutes after I received the email from dbrand, I got an email from indiegogo telling me how they just started processing it. Sounds pretty suspicious, almost like they were hoping that I forget the thing. Maybe the next time I am getting skins for my device, I will consider getting them from someone else.
  9. The 10 business days they promised me to get the refund in have now passed, and I don't see it in my account. Also its been 11 days for them to "dig to the bottom"
  10. Oh, yea, by the way, my bad, even tho previously I have had bad experiences with their customer support, they did promise to refund this to me. Sorry, I mentioned it in my indiegogo comment but forgot to mention here. Thanks big man
  11. The application is the hard part with the curved screen, after that the protectors have been fine. S8 is the only curved phone I have owned. Most of the cases work with the curved screens too. But not being able to use the edge menu thingie and being the worst case to crack screens that I have seen is pretty serious imo. Also, I thought I made it clear that I don't know where to post this necessarily, and I figured this would be the best place to actually get something from LTT, especially since they might get some other input from dbrand other than "sorry, our robots messed up". So, this kinda isn't news, but thats what I literally started the post with.
  12. Yeah to be fair, besides the buttons not feeling too good I probably would be okay with the purchase if it wasn't for the curves. But also I think the comments about it being too loose were for the pixel 2, if I'm not completely mistaken
  13. This isn't necessarily a news story, since every crowdsourcing campaing is a mess, but I would like to hear a statement from LTT on Wan show or something since you guys advertised the dbrand grip so much that you got me to buy it aswell. I even finally joined your forum for this. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/dbrand-grip-phone-case/x/3311458#/comments According to the comments I am definetely not the only one who found the grip case to be sub-par. In my case, I bought the case for the galaxy s8, and the glass screen protector bows like 1cm away from the screen. I tried with a couple of different types of glass protectors, and it cracked all of them. Oh, and also I cant use the edge at all with the case. That seems just like poor design too. I have also read about some people having problems with the phones coming out of the case when dropped so I definitely would not run it without the screen protector. I haven't read all of the comments obviously, but these seem like pretty major issues for a phone case that cost me 50 usd and I was even one of the earliest people that ordered it. If there is a more suitable place for this thread, please show me da wae EDIT: Also, am I the only one that has had bad experiences with their customer support? I have tried to cancel 1 order, and change a second one but they did neither of the things asked. Just feels like they hide behind the robot roleplay. And also just to be clear, I left a comment to the indiegogo page myself too, I am wonmotlow over there just so one unsatisfied customer doesn't skew your view of the comment section
