  1. ah ok never used that button before ah ok it doesnt matter then ya i figured static fans as linus mentioned it his video for this computer case.. as its pulling air in as the fans are behind the hard drives so it has to suck the air in as you can see from the amazon link.. as it pulls the air in from 1 side of the motherboard and pushes the air out on the other side of the motherboard but i no expert at choosing fans.. 20 yrs ago wasnt this many options lol hopefully they know which one is the best soo many options... when you goto there website
  2. send them an email.. as i watched that linus video and i dont know the math or what be the best fan to pull. for that case so i emailed notuca what the best fan be they can do the math lol
  3. ah ok .. ya i figured id have to do custom.. if i went that route.. i do find that the 7500rpms is loud but it can suck the air as the hard drives are tight together as i got 20 hard drives plugged in i have this case NORCO 4U Rack Mount 20 x Hot-Swappable SATA/SAS 6G Drive Bays Server Rack Mount RPC-4020: Amazon.ca: Computers & Tablets and the fans included the 3 120s werent fast enough to pull the air over them i did try the corasair one.. but it wasnt good enough i only tried 1 fan so far and allowed the other 2 fans run Corsair ML120 Pro, 120mm Premium Magnetic Levitation Cooling Fan, CO-9050040-WW: Amazon.ca: Computers & Tablets so that one wasnt good enough i did try this 3000 rpm one it wasnt too bad ran at 3700rpms unraid said ran it off the motherboard Delta Updated AFB1212SHE 120mm CPU Case Cooling Fan Ultra Strong DC 12V 120mm 12cm Cooling Fan 200CFM 3Pin Connector Cooling Fan with Metal Finger Guard Grill: Amazon.ca: Electronics it wasnt too bad it says its a DC fan but i set it to PWM in the bios or something.. but seemed ok its hit and miss but i never tried the norco ones yet i didnt know which one to choose? i looked that the static pressure fans not high flow linus talked about but i could always email norco see what they recommend?
  4. ah ok so thats not going to work for me then my other idea was get a 3 fan spliter chop off the end and mod it so 2 power wires goto the power supply molex.. and the 2 other wires goto the motherboard chassis port as i couldnt find anything to handle 5amp fans and 3 of them together at the same time and wasnt sure if there was a product out there instead of me moding it and not sure what those 9 pin headers are?
  5. @thrasher_565 ah ok is it this one the comando the 75 dollar one? Corsair CL-9011110-WW Fan Controller Commander Pro Temperature Monitor: Amazon.ca: Electronics
  6. so what i have is 1 of these Antminer Cooling Fan,ASHATA DC 12V 5.0A 7500RPM Cooling Fan Replacement 4 Pin Connector for Antminer S7 S9: Amazon.ca: Electronics i plan to get 2 more i need a Fan Hub to control all 3 from External power and be controled by the motherboard chassis fan port so they all run at the same time and adjust the same time my only thought was to get a 3 way splittler and those Fan hubs for CPU and 9 other fans but problem is i dont think the CPU Fan port on the board is ran from the external power but the power off the motherboard.. so it defeat my purrpose
  7. sorry dislexia gets best of me yes i looking for a Fan Hub that can take at least 3 Fans be controlled from the 4 Pin Fan on the motherboard but be powered by Sata Port the ones on Amazon are only for CPU and the other 9 fan pins run at 100% so i wanted to know if there was a hub out there that all the fans run off a single 4 pin on the motherboard so the rpms are controlled and the power for the fan comes from a molex or i as was asking i guess maybe i have to Modify a 3 way splitter or a hub etc. so power comes from the molex and you use the 2 other wires to go directly to the motherboard the tach and pwm wires i also was saying i emailed norco about the 6 pin header on the case if i can simply run 2 wires from it to the motherboard.. but no ones replying.. so i was asking what my options.. probably have to make the cable myself ok ill look at the video.. well i looked at the link had no video i could use and like i mentioned the fan draws 5amps so i cant probably run 15 amps off a single plug off the motherboard.. i doublt it can handle 5 amp fan let alot 15 off 1 port
  8. so all i can find is external power to a 10 fan hub and only the first one or CPU one is controlled i looking for at least 3 Fan Hub spliter to take external power and to run off the motherboard.. as i dont think i can run directly from the motherboard.. i dont think they can handle 15 amps as i using the Norco 20 hot swap bay.. the 3 120mm fans are not adequit.. so i bought a few different fans and best one that works is a 7500 rpm 120mm 5amps .. and i use 2 60mm 5700 rpm fans for the back.. i run those 2 off the board so they will shut off in unraid when its below a certain temp but i wanna do the same for the 3 120s now there is a 6 pin header on the fan backplain but no reply from norco so i dont know.. so do i have to make something up or possibly if the header works the 6 pins take 2 wires and run them from there to the chassis port on the motherboard for Tach and the other wire.. and let the power pins from the molex power things as hard drives hit 60C degrees with this heat we are having and the 7500rpm cools it pretty good for running unraid
  9. @WoodenMarker so for my array thats running these are my hard drives and they running hot least the one is i set the cpu fan to max in bios and the 2 exhaust fans on max too but its not cooling enough? the 3 middle fans they only run at 1 speed i guess you cant increase them?
  10. well i used to be able to copy at 120mbs sometimes higher but i seem to be capped now at 80m/s as for the drives they are teh 12 14TB drives and a couple 2TB and 4TB for the wd the sas;s i not sure VPBA300C3ETS11_N_JHVNRE7C - 300 GB (sdx) ST3300555SS_3LM17MBG00009745U5Q3 - 300 GB (sdaa) MBA3300RC_BJ59P8300FMA - 300 GB (sdy) VPA146C3-ETS10_N_JDVY55DK - 147 GB (sdv) MBA3147RC_BJF9P8500ABH - 147 GB (sdz) the 300s i only did 3 as the other 3 i have are the same models and i also figured maybe i running at sata 2 because i have these Sas drives plugged in i dunno used to get better speeds but i dunno i experimenting at the moment
  11. i have 12 Sata 7200 RPM WD drives gold and ultrastar then i got a 2 old Sas 15k 146GB drives 6 old Sas 15k 300GB drives my cpu in unraid also runs idle 51 degrees i noticed if i leave cover off they hit 45 degrees or so and unraid told me off saying my drives are hot.. i not sure what the operating temperatures should be? i also know for some reason with that above combination i getting sold speeds copying to my array i not sure if u know 1 LSI 6gb card into Expander card that services 16 ports and then i use 4 Sata ports on my motherboard to get the 20 but when i copying over the network i get only 80mb/s copying over gigibit nic and SSD to SSD or SSD to array i should be getting the 125mbs so i was also wondering if i have too many drivers for 1 card to handle thats why i getting slow speeds i thought it was maybe because the drives were hot.. but i tried it when the computer was shut down and cold and tried after a boot up and still 80mbs to copy 15gb so not sure what to do to speed it up i did see 12GB/s lsi cards not sure if that help things or if i need 2 LSI cards
  12. hi i finding with the stock 3 fans and the 2 in the back with the power supply running isnt keeping the hard drives cool all around the 40 degree mark i also dont know what that extra hardware for a fan is for where you put it? but my question is what fans did you guys use to pull that air in faster and out of the case faster get those hard drives down to 30 degree area.. i did watch linus tech tip video you want a static pressure fan i did amazon some but that didnt help.. but what you guys found that works to bring hard drives down to the 30 degree with it filled with 20 hard drives and no airconditioning..
  13. ah ok ya like seems good and like i had 3 of the Acer H340 cases 4 drive bay.. 1 backplane failed after over 10 yrs use so its never let me down but then i also went to antec gaming case but u cant actually get the hot swap module unless you live in South africa as they dont ship to north america and ya i noticed its an old video but i figured since they still have it on the market.. and hard drives have really changed it be good.. i dunno what todays standards are but it handles my 12TB and 14TB drives all the way from my 2 and 2.5TB drives up... so i figured it was a good choice.. i liked the 45drives/backblaze but the cost of the case id take me a year or 2 to pay for it and thats just for a case lol. i also build a computer case out of wood that was like 45/backblaze drive but i couldnt get the parts so i turned it into my gaming case that sits in my rack and it also doubles as a dehydrator for food from the heat so i get food and game at same time lol
  14. ah ok and did i make a mistake buying this case? it was affordable to a supermicro at 2000 bucks and that was used from ebay. it seems to be a pretty good case. ah isnt all companies really chinese these days like frig nothing seems to be canadian/usa made alot of times cuz i bought it because linus said it was really good from his reviews.. i can see trays not a thick plastic but how often you removing trays for a home user right already filled 12 out 20 drive slots as i was up to 8 hard drives in my Antect DF-85 gaming cases but needed more space.. so hopefully i didnt make a bad buy.. and if i did what is a decent server case for home user as those synologys too expensive as i also went with unraid as i saw it from linus too and it fited my needs over freenas even the 45drives he uses too is too expensive for the home user was like 1200 for just the bare case. when i emailed them or it was backblaze i forget
  15. watching linus tech tip video about the norco hotswap enclosure i picked up a new 20 bay case not bad tight and such.. but i tried hitting the website incase i need parts like a back plain in case later it breaks but typically they dont least not on ACER nas but i finding the website not working and i did find an email and tried emailing but nothing.. is the company still there? or anything? or maybe Linus knows? since hes involved in all the tech ... maybe he knows if they up down or whats going on there
  16. so this is the modem and the Caller ID part does work kinda StarTech.com USB 2.0 Fax Modem - 56K External Hardware Dial Up V.92 Modem/Dongle/Adapter - Computer/Laptop Fax Modem - USB to Telephone Jack - USB Data Modem - Network Fax/Voice/CMR/POS (USB56KEMH2), 0.80" (20.32 mm) x 1.10" (27.94 mm) x 3" (76.20 mm): Amazon.ca: Computers & Tablets so from Step 7.. i can only do AT+VCID=1 from exampl 8 this works for me for Local, local VOIP,and Private Callers so they get displayed this way RING DATE = 0720 TIME = 2351 NAME = BEILEY SOFTWARE NMBR = 4807050129 RING RING This Part is what i see for Long distance and Telemarketer numbers so i figured maybe a different setting or A different speed for 5600 i dunno If your modem is not supporting caller ID or it isn't enabled, you will see something like this: RING RING RING so this is why i confused does it mean i can do caller ID or cant or is it only working half.. or is i a speed issue? i cant find protocols you set for Caller ID on speed of the modem i have set minicom from 56000 down to 9600 to see if the baud rate changes anything
  17. i use a Startech modem at 56700 8N1 Hardware Flow and i use caller ID software also minicom in Linux it can detect Private Callers, Local Numbers, Local VOIP numbers but it cant detect Long distance, nore the telemarketers .. all i get is RING RING RING RING i haave Caller ID enabled AT+VCID=1 but it just wont detect.. is there a different Setting in Canada? different speed etc.. anyone expert at knowing Caller ID speeds protocols.. Startech wasnt able to help well they still looking to help but figured Linus tech group has a vast of people.. maybe someone knows why it doesnt detect im also using Bell and In Ontario Canada for my DSL, Landline phone service
  18. i guessing there is nothing people have asked back in 2006.. but those links seem to have died.. guess i have to code myself one. if i even remember how to code in VB...
  19. i also been having issues seeing my 19 laptop monitor.. and gone to a 65" tv for display just to read things better.. same i cant read my damn cell phone lot of times.. times for glasses i guess lol
  20. well thats cool that be good too.. if she was at the TV and a phone came in but i mean if she is walking and the phone rings.. she cant goto the TV to see.. but if i had like Tablet over top of the phone attached the the wall soo,. instead of trying to read the small print of the hand held she can look up to the tablet and see whos calling.. as for the tv be nice i in canada with Bell Express Vu Satellite tv.. i also use Real Phone line not that VOIP dunno if that matters or not..
  21. with my mom having issues with vision cant read her land lines.. and i tried googling but not really anything out there.. but i wanted to know if any you guys know of a like Windows App or ubunut my Idea is Using Unraid as the Server with a UsB Modem Unraid Running a VM of Windows or Ubuntu etc and runs this app full screen then each spot i have a telephone.. id have like a Tablet that VNC'd full screen to the VM so each time the phone rings the Tablet or screen would be linked and display whos calling so she can answer the phone.. is there anything like that.. if not it be a good suggestion for Linus to maybe come up with that Jake guy hes smart.. i sure could use the help.. and even possible to link to cell.. but for now she has trouble reading the phones.. on landlines they dont make big enough screen or have like a HDMI on the phone so it can display to a bigger screen
  22. depends.. if you built the computer yourself.. lot of power supplies come with 10 yr warrenty now Ram is life time SSDs HDS 1-5 yrs motherboards 1-3 yrs videocards 1-3 yrs these just averages.. and even though you work on them it should be covered now it used to be if you bought a computer from BestBuy/Future Shop (same company) or a staples or your local computer store they stuck a sticker on your case and said void warrenty if removed.. but that has gone of the way... as you paid for the computer.. you bought it.. your not renting it.. you own all the parts in there.. so your able to open it up but if you bought it say from a store.. you should have gotten at least 1 year warrenty just pack it up and take it back there.. and if your worried about touching it warrenty.. tell them you didn't open it up.. just it wont power up.. and let them deal with it... this way covers you... and you don't need to feel aww crap no warrenty I opened the computer … this was an issue when people wanted to upgrade there hard drives in there computer and it would void the warrenty by adding a 2nd hard drive in there.. but those days are long gone.. least for Canada and UA im pretty sure.. hope that helps a little
  23. ah ok so possible motherboard is shorted out.. and same applies what I mentioned if you can find a friend with the same CPU gen/socket see if they will test it for you... then you can narrow it down dead CPU dead motherboard.. heck if you can get another power supply test it too.. as maybe the board is only getting partial power on the power lines on the 24 pins... that isn't powering it.. if you have a spare computer or easily remove test using that power supply on it... then you can scratch that off the list... just because the power supply powers up on a paper clip.. doesn't mean its supplying the power to the right wires
