A PC owners worst nightmare just happened to me. Before I explain my situation let me give you my specs just in case it's useful in any way. (Obviously if ur here trying to help me fix my CPU then you probably want to know what it is)
- CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
- GPU: ASUS ROG Strix 1080
- RAM: 32GB of DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz
- MOBO: AMD X470 AORUS Gaming Wifi 5
- Cooling: Corsair H150i Pro (360 rad)
- Harddrive: 2TB Green Barracuda something, not sure
- SSD: Samsung NVMe M.2 970 EVO 500GB
- PSU: EVGA 650 G3 80+ Gold
The Issue
So recently my PC has been randomly freezing and crashing forcing me to do a force restart. At first I thought it was an innocent mistake but it started happening more frequently. I did some research on common reasons for crashing, went into my windows reliability and I got a hardware error saying "LiveKernelEvent 141" This keeps happening randomly when I am just playing games but so far I don't think it's happened while my CPU wasn't under stress. (Now that I think about it, it might have happened once or twice not quite sure).
What Have I Done
- I've done some basic level diagnostics/attempts to fix it/troubleshooting.
- GPU stress test completed without issues
- RAM stress test completed without issues
- CPU stress test caused the crash like it usually happens while I am playing.
- Reinstalled windows to no avail
- De-fragmented both drives
- Checked both drives with the windows drive checker thing (sorry forgot what it's called). No issues there.
- Contacted AMD asking them for help. (No response yet but if I get one I will post it.
Where I'm at
Right now, I am just trying to do what I can to limit further crashing in fear of it damaging anything. All signs point to a CPU issue but I'm not 100% sure which is why I am here asking for help...lol. Any advice or help would be very greatly appreciated and thank you for reading.
