  1. Noted, thanks for the info. I really wish I could pay someone to built this PC for me cause I'm just so busy working and hauling freight.......I haven't had a vacation in 10 years.......
  2. Yeah, I'm going to measure out the dimensions of that cupboard and find a good case that will fit into it for storage. Another issue I want to avoid is the graphics card and CPU cooler getting loosened by vibrations as the truck goes down the road. Any ideas on that?
  3. It's a cupboard (currently holding a duffel bag of clothes. It can easily be cleared to store it when not in use. As far as hiding goes, I just don't want it to be visible while I'm outside the truck that way people won't see it and be tempted to break into the truck to get it.
  4. lol yes and no, it's technically called an "Air controlled automated manual transmission" - while it does shift automatically, it's not done like a car's transmission. Driving does get boring at times, but we have our ways of staying awake that doesn't involve taking pills or "stay awake" meds.
  5. As far as power goes, I have a diesel powered APU and an 1800 watt inverter so power isn't an issue for me even with the engine turned off. I don't want to use the passenger seat as a "stand" for it because there are a lot of issues that would bring as far as DOT (the police) are concerned. I posted pictures in a reply on this thread, so please feel free to check those out of you want a spacial comparison to look at. As far as the parts list you posted is concerned, PC parts picker did post a compatibility note on that list.
  6. Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I might just do that instead of buying things one at a time.
  7. Here are some pics of the inside of the truck for spacial reference. I was thinking I could lay it on it's side and strap it to the top of my fridge to keep it secure when not in use. These were taken after I had a detail job done on the floor so that's why they look shiny and wet.
  8. Well right now, the stock speakers that come in this truck from the manufacturer are pretty crappy, but I could always run a 3.5mm aux cord to the stereo once I got better speakers and a sub-woofer installed.
  9. Okay, so a while back I started planning for a build inside my 18 wheeler. I own the truck so I can do whatever I want to it and my end goal (since I live in this thing) is to have a gaming rig installed (and preferably hidden, like a sleeper build) into the truck. My Original Idea My original idea had me utilizing the top bunk of my bunk bed as a "stage" for this thing since it's not being used anyway and then run cables to the bottom bunk for the monitor, keyboard, mouse ect. After a long time of talking to many people on the discord server, and also talking to hardware manufacturers, I've come to a conclusion that it would not be the best idea to use the top bunk to put this thing. That's when the gears in my head started turning and I got to thinking What if, instead of the top bunk, I just build a small gaming rig (like really small) and hide it somewhere in the truck when it's not being used. I started looking at LTT vids on small gaming rigs. I've also found a few products that are not your standard PC gaming setups like the one here (https://www.zotac.com/pk/product/mini_pcs/qk7p5000) The only issue with the zotac machine is that 1. It's not as powerful as I'd like it to be and 2. I can't find it to buy anywhere (not even the "Where to buy" link seems to work. I've had a few people ask me why I don't go with a laptop and I'll tell you why, I've had a bad experience with laptops. The one I'm currently using is a Dell Inspiron 7000, and it's okay for what it is, but after a while of use, it is slow and get's hot very quickly. I want something with a little more power and the ability to be cleaned easily and upgraded if needed. For wifi, I'm just going to do what I've been doing now, which is use PDA net on my phone and USB it to the rig for internet (which actually works really well with my galaxy note 9. Here's my biggest problem, I've never built a computer before. I'm jumping head first into this but I've found it's the best way for me to learn. Any help would be appreciated. My budget for this whole thing is something around the 4K ballpark. I will be buying parts and stuff throughout 2019 and my resolution will be to have everything built and up and running before the end of the year. This is a big project for me seeing as how I've never done something like this before and builds like these are done too often.
  10. I'm hoping to keep my budget as low as possible. And I'm in America. Tennessee, to be more specific.
  11. Hi, I'm looking into building a server to keep at home and I'd like to have one for a few reasons. I'd like to be able to back up my Laptop on the go because I am an Owner Operator of an 18 wheeler and everything that has to do with my business is on my laptop. 99% of the time I fall asleep watching YouTube at night so what I would like to do is be able for my laptop to upload new files (or anything I've edited) to the server sometime in the night. I'd upload the initial backup on day one and If I change anything, that night my laptop would send it to the server. I'd also like to have all my media hosted on it as well, I rip a lot of blue rays to my laptop because it's easier than just keeping all the discs in my truck. Is this something possible and/or realistic? I'm afraid if I were to ever get into an accident and my laptop is broken, I'd lose all my data on this HDD. I do have a backup on a seagate 1TB drive here on the truck but if that were lost too I'd be pretty SOL. So I'd like to have the server for keeping a backup and keeping it updated on a regular basis. TIA!
  12. Yeah, I'm going with SSD's for sure just for speed alone.
  13. Hmmm.....maybe if I could find a pipe bender, I could form a logo out of the hard line. Might take more fluid but as long as performance isn't affected, I think it could look pretty good. I could look into RGB line fittings and a nice color for the liquid and make it look like a neon sign within the case.
