  1. Ok so im planning to build a new server and thought it would be a novel idea to build it in an old Apple G5 Power mac i have (dont worry it dosnt work apple fans) using two old Cooler Master 4 in 3 Drive Moduals https://www.newegg.ca/cooler-master-stb-3t4-e3-gp/p/N82E16817993002 Ive had laying around and slide them into the front of the case to add fans and house the drives! Now I might just be smoking glue but all the G5 to PC conversions ive seen have the motherboard upside down due to the mac being orianted opposite to that of a PC and this drives me nuts. Now that being said if im cutting both side up (one for the rear IO and the other for the drive moduals) Im thinking of just fliping everything so that the motherboard and GPU sit properly. I know this would ruin the side panel lock but i can fix that easy enough. Anyone have any thoughts?
  2. So I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but my friend gave me their acer pre-built with a i5-9400h, socket FCBGA1440. I was wondering if that would be compatible with your typical LGA 1151 motherboard if someone wanted to upgrade the motherboard?
  3. Well if it's not one thing it's another with computers, but having trouble enabling secure boot ony PC in preparation for Windows 11. System: I5 8400 16GB Ram GTX 1070 Gigabyte Z390 UD motherboard I have already switched the bios to UEFI using the mbr2gpt comand but when I go to enable secure boot it give me a notice that CSM is running even though I disabled it. Any suggestions?
  4. Hey everyone! So it turns out it was the fan, I tried another Noctua NF-P14 and everything seems to be good! Thank you for all the help everyone!
  5. Well @The89Lunderthat's a good point, the fans I'm having trouble with are 3 pin fans split off a 4 pin header. And every other fan in the system is a 4 pin so I'll have to check in the bios.
  6. Hey everyone! Been having an issue with the fans in the new system I have built. The motherboard (Gigabyte Z390 UD) has 3 fan header. One header has a single Noctua NF--P12 in the rear, the second has three NF--P12 s on a 3way fan splitter at the front. Lastly off the last header there are 2 NF-P14s up top. My issue is one of the top NF-P14s stops spinning up top after a minute or two and just sits and trys to spin while the other spins fine. It does spin when plugged into the other splitter at the front so the fan is good. I have tried two different fan splitters, am wondering if I am missing something with the amps on the motherboard or something along those lines
  7. Hi everyone, I just upgraded the fans on my Corsair H100i aio for greater performance. They are in a push confirmation at the top of the case like everything was before. My question however is when I put my hand on the outside of the case to check airflow there is only air coming from the right side of the radiator as if the other side is blocked. I was curious is this normal or is this something I need to fix. Thank you
  8. I'm currently building a home theater that will be used to host a Plex server. It's a budget built so I'm trying to not spend to much money if it's not necessary. I Have an existing motherboard in the form of the Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A (https://www.gigabyte.com/ca/Motherboard/GA-H110-D3A-rev-10#kf) it's a mining bord but I have it already and it fits the i5-7500 I have on hand. I am going to add some networking cards and a GTX 750 TI to it as well. I'm just curious if this board is a good choice or if I should look for a new board Thanks for the feedback!
  9. Yeah thats what made the most sense t me as swell. I'm not to sure what revision of the bios i s currently on the board. I have had it in storage for a little over a year, so i believe the its when it came out. Im not to sure if AMD still sends out processors to pop in the socket to make the change and send back still, but ffrom the sounds ill likely need a temp CPU to make the update?
  10. Build: Motherboard = Asus ROG STRIX B350-F Gaming CPU = AMD Ryzen 3 2200G RAM = 8 GB HyperX Fury 2400mhz GPU = PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 580 Hi everyone, So i recently upgraded my PC to a new case and a new motherboard. Everything worked fine in the old case with a MSI B350M Gaming PRO AM4 B350 but when we turn it on to post nothing happens and the indicator LED says its a memory issue. Iv'e tried half a dozen sticks of RAM to fix the issue but none have seemed to fix the problem. I have had the asus motherboard for almost a year so i am curious if the board needs a BIOS update due to being a first gen ryzen board with a second gen chip, or if its just dead and needs to be replaced. If anyone has an idea please let me know Thank You!
  11. So I've build my computer a little while ago and am in the middle of doing some upgrades. I am looking to add an RGB fan to my existing heat sink and picked up the the RGB Fan listed below. I am just wondering if it is compatible with my motherboard. The fan has two wires coming out, one 4 pin and one 3 pin. The motherboard has a RGB header but it says its for light strips but i was hoping it could be used for the cpu instead? 12. It's a SPI power supply. Nothing special by any means. However being a side project I don't really want to put much, if not any money into it if possible. I pulled a GT 240 out of a dead machine and am just going to use that. Thanks for the help everyone.
  13. I think getting a better PSU is the best route. I don't have any plans in burning the house down. The wires on this one look like string anyway. Is there any PSU anyone would recommend for a decent price ?
  14. Hey everyone, I have another random question. I've been playing around with an older Windows XP machine for older games. I have an Radeon HD 5870 that I want to put in it but the power supply only has one 6-pin connector and the card needs two. There's extra connectors of different sorts ready to use so I was wondering if there are addapters to make one of those work to power the card. The Power Supple is a 460 watt unit so it should have enough juice. Also the case I have didn't have alot of ventilation, only one 90mill fan on the back that wasn't connected yet, is this going to be a problem for gaming and extended use Thanks
  15. Ok that makes sence. Thanks for the help everyone, it is greatly appreciated!
