  1. Oh yeah, sorry forgot about that terribly important part… It will be used for cad, some video/photo editing and some gaming. thanks
  2. I have built to may computers lately for other people and have made the decision that I need to build a sweet system for myself. I have the age old question (and it's getting older)... that is, old server gear or new consumer? I would be going with dual xenon X5690s (6 cores @ 3.46GHz base each) and supermicro MoBo with 7 x16 pcie 2.0 slots and 12 ddr3 dimslots (witch I would fill with 8gb sticks… of course). On the other hand your average 8th gen i7. Buy the time I purchase all the pcie adapters to gain modern i/o it will be around the same price. Regardless I plan on water cooling it with an extremely clean, custom case. Thanks for your input.
  3. Hey so we have all the parts now aside from the case. I did go with a better GPU and Power supply here is the build... https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/zFj4dX
  4. Hey so I am building this computer for a friend and I thought I would get your opinion. He is using it for CAD, video editing and light gaming. I am confident in the build however I was thinking about going with a radeon video card instead of nvidia. Any input would be great, thanks https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/northerntech/saved/3rMWXL
  5. Well we got the AMD APU today as well as an 960 m.2 SSD. Also we got the case about a week ago. everything else including a corsair SF450 SFX PSU is on order. thanks for your input.
  6. So I am building this computer for a friend and thought I should get your opinion. she is big on aesthetic so... RGB. We also have a cool plan for the bottom of the case witch is why we went for a very small PSU. She is into light gaming and older titles so I feel the integrated graphics will suffice with the possibility for a GPU in the future with a PSU upgrade to go with it. Thanks! https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/northerntech/saved/8qpPsY
